Battlefield: Bad Company.

Game'll be released within a few weeks across the world. The (primarily multiplayer) demo was released recently on Xbox Live Marketplace.

I must say, I'm impressed. I loved Battlefield Two, and this should definitely keep the good Battlefield name. Near everything is destroyable, which is definitely a plus 8-)

My only annoyance is a quite extreme learning curve, as well as slightly confusing controls. Most people also have bad connections, although that could be because there are too few servers. I myself love this demo, and will certainly save up for the game in the next few weeks. :)

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Oo i was gonna make a topic on this in the next few days

I've been playing the demo on 360 for the past week and it is one of the best games i've played in a while

I love how you can destroy nearly everything on the map ,especially being able to shoot down trees. The only thing i don't like is the helicopters on it, the controls are so darn difficult.

My enemies always rush the helicopter spawns and snipe anyone who gets close.

It's funny, too, because I'm a master at taking down choppers with an RPG :P

My biggest annoyance is not noticing someone is an enemy or ally if they're a long distance away. It's very easy to accidentally put your plow (bullets) in an ally's field (head).

If i fought the way i normally do in CoD4, then the whole map would be gone by the time I'm through with it.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

Pshaw to Inuasha. Pshaw.

I hate tanks now. Me and some friends were paired up 3-7, and the other team constantly used tanks. But we got retribution, next game it was us versus....nobody.

Major annoyance with this game: You get guns that you would normally acquire at the last level from the very start if you buy the more expensive "gold" edition. And from what I hear those guns do make a big difference.

[bleep] [cabbage].

Don't forget that they're gonna add more "Pay-to-play" guns. That is one reason I'm never gonna buy this game.

Worst game in the BF series so far IMO.

+1

How? Please, elaborate.

Vehicles have had their skill level nerfed, plus they have unlimited ammo which overpowers them. If you play as anything besides demolitions you will be screwed over by tanks and/or helicopters. Snipers can't seem to hit crap, even on something standing still. Compared to the level of skill and depth in both vehicular and foot combat in BF2 and BF2142 (or even BF1942), this game is pretty easy to play. If you think that this game has any sort of "extreme learning curve" you probably haven't played earlier games in the series that much. Gameplay (at least for the demo) is extremely slow paced, even worse than Vegas 1. You can't even talk to your entire team, just your 3 or 4 member squad. You can't even choose your squad! This isn't even BF anymore, it's feels like a watered down and dumbed down version of BF2. Not to mention the precision mortar strikes that can be called down anywhere on the battlefield. Gold rush is also very boring compared to Conquest and Titan modes.

What is everyone's deal with destructible environments? Sure, it's fun for about 5 minutes, but when is chopping down trees with a knife ever going to affect game play besides the "OMG d000d" factor (similar to the GoW chainsaw. It was cool for a bit, but when you have a shotgun that's more effective, what's the point?).

My two biggest gripes with the game are A) it's slow-paced and dumbed down compared to the other games in the series, and B) EA is making you pay to get new guns over time. They did this exact same thing with Pro Street, you'd people buying top-of-line cars and just destroying people who didn't spend money on that kind of stuff.

Pay for more guns, infinite ammo in vehicles and slower paced not to mention no pc version? Bleh, disgusting. The only reason why they are what they are is because pc gamers have supported them, and now they've completely screwed everything over.

Stupid-tupid Jjrox.

Oh well, maybe the actual game will be better. I still like it.

So could we have a discussion about the game instead of bashing it, folks?

If it had been a stand-alone game, I probably would've liked it better. But it was just such a letdown compared to the rest of the series.

What was the stupid-tupid thing for?

We are discussing it, Jjrox has just brought up some downsides and I agree with him on those.

Don't hate just yet; BC was never going to be for PC and most of the people in the BF community I have spoken to have known this for a long, long time.

The thing is that I e-mailed EA, and a rep told me it was going to be released for PC, they just didn't have a pre order option set up. So I'm not sure what to believe lol.

The Inside Battlefield Show (live-cast from the guys running netgameradio) got some EA/DICE reps on the phone over the cast and had it "leaked" that BC was not for PC just console and that was a while ago now. Then the rep got smart and started being more selective on answers. Didn't manage to get anything from them about BF3 unfortunately, that slip of BC was enough to start hype up again though, if BF3 was going to follow similar line as BC or not.

I mean, you don't invest time and money into a game and limit it to consoles when the demand for the next PC installment is so high. Personally I'm of the impression Bad Company is a raped-version of what will turn up on PC's; but the release will be probably be second quater '09. I mean, when you look at the BF2 that hit the consoles compared to the PC version; it smells like that again with Bad Company, just released in reverse.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts!

Bad Company should indeed be coming out for PC, though it doesn't look like we have the pre order option setup for it quite yet.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Landon F.

Someone at EA didn't know what they were talking about LOL.

And it sounds like BF3 will have the same destructible environment as BC, just with bigger maps for the 64 player Mp.

I'm sure shooting down a tree will someday come in handy. Like if some guy is with bad aim is chasing you and you have no ammo, knife down the tree and maybe he'll trip or something.

Knife down a tree? What the hell. That's so unrealistic...
