muggiwhplar
the only 2 capes that show real skill to me now are the fire cape and the quest cape. Both demonstrate the ability to not stand in one place and left + right click over and over again. RS has never been a matter of skill though - the fight caves is the only part of RS which tests your personal skill to do something. Even then, it's a pretty simple test to pass. tortilliachp
the fact that the discussion even pops up, is in my mind unfathomable. Runescape is a game. you play games for fun. if someone enjoys themselves more in their free time "buying skills" or whatever else they do, that is completely 100% up to them. questioning other people's means of having fun, and labling people after judging their interests within the game is not in the spirit of a game. Don't over-interperate meanings into things within the game. If someone has more fun playing the game in a different way than you, how does that change how you play the game? Keep in mind that probably 50% of people when pking was out bought their fire capes off other players (eg transferred 2 mill for another person to do it on their account). Quite a while ago I actually did fire capes for people, I only did about 7 and then stopped, but even then I still got people asking me to do their's for weeks after every day, and I still get people asking me atleast once a week to do it for them. Bouwzie
I am currently getting 99 herblore, and I got 3 hateful comments from 99 herblorists so far. All 3 came down to the same thing: "Lol, you didn't farm your herbs, get out." I worked my [wagon] of to get the money for 99 heblore, and I most likely still don't have enough for it. I ofcourse did farm a little, so that I have to spend less. Low budget ftl/ftw. Low budget makes the game more interesting, high budget makes it easier. If you have a lot of money to start out with, look into buying massive amounts of grimy kwuarm/ranarr/snapdragon then cleaning them and selling for profit. Yeah my old caves guide was posted on Runescape Community... but then when I tried to post the new guide (guide to the whole caves w/o guthans) they wouldn't allow it because they already had a caves guide (and it was mine..) So I said to hell w/ them and posted on tipit lol But yea back then only RSC people knew of me, and now it's mostly just tipit people Wonder what'd happen if I posted all the vid guides on youtube >_>
jonstark7x8
I have absolutely no problems with buying skills. It takes a lot of time to make the money, and some people find grinding for skills fun. Personally, I was using your spot in MM tuns over the past week prior to the update :P. However, I was rudely interrupted en route to 99 by a certain update  . DarkDude
The reason I got 99 range was because it was my favourite skill and I enjoyed training it - I didn't get it as an accomplishment - I got it because I want to. The point I was trying to make is a lot of people just get it for a 99 - thus making it "worthless". All 17.5 or however much Range xp i have has gotten without even touching a chin, and I don't plan to. Atleast people who use chins to get 99 range are actually doing *some* sort of ranging, unlike people who got it with PC, the most unbalanced training method in the history of RS. No money needed to spend - no risk a very high reward. Fair enough if you chinned to 99 if you plan to use it - It's just people who use chins just to get "another 99". hellbellz
Also it's just sad that that person can't stand doing it the 'right' way. There is NO damn "right" way to do a skill. You're supposed to do the most efficient method, and if you have money chinning was the way to go, but if you're stubborn you could just train the "old fashioned" way. You shouldn't make the journey harder on yourself. And you're the one to be talking about grinding. Also, darkdude98, people used chins because they wanted to, they wanted 99 ranged, just like you, but they wanted to train with some chins rather than a bow and arrow. One more thing, Muggi, you said this forum whines about people buying their skills, RSC do much of that? I havn't browsed the general RS board there often enough to see their opinions. Chained_life
I can go to sara right now and get 43mil split or so because of luck. Ah so spending 1 hour at GWD gets me 99 range, and others are supposed to feel good about it when they spent years at 99 range? What I don't like is people mocking me and laughing at my skills because they aren't as good as theirs. And generally those are people that PCd their stats, AFKd somewhere, "bought it" with their luck money. I've killed 450+ Metals with one d skirt, I've gone to 2 rex trips with no drops, I've done 150+ level 3s with the best thing being a black cav, I've opened 600+ barrows chests, the most costly item being dharok helm. Most I've "risked" at barrows : 20mil Most I've "risked" at Dks: 14mil Most I've risked at metals: 9mil while I'm doing this a level 93 with 68 range, risking 10k in gear goes to metals gets a visage on the second kill, gets 99 range and calls me a noob. I'm not jealous I'm pissed off.

Obtaurian
I have no opinion one way or the other when it comes to how a person trains any one skill. If they spend 150m to get 99 Smithing, then so be it. If they mine every ore, then that works too. It all just depends on what's more important to you. I, however, train my skills only when I need to use them. If I need food, I fish and cook, if I need potions, I throw them together. I also train skills when I need to reach a higher level in order to use something or do a certain quest. My favorite skills are Slayer, Summoning, Farming, and Mining. I regularly train these skills because I find them to be fun and relaxing. Combat is my favorite aspect of the game, and so the only 99's that I'm actively pursuing are Slayer and all other combat skills. In conclusion: do what you need to do, and have fun doing it. If spending that 150m on Smithing is fun for you, then by all means. Just don't forget to have fun. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
amoeba_009
A 99 is supposed to be an accomplishment not for showing off tbh. Chinning is not an accomplishment you put such little work into such a great output. A 99 should be something you enjoy too and if you enjoy chinning go ahead and do that for 20M range xp since you enjoy it so much. Also it's just sad that that person can't stand doing it the 'right' way. Sure you save time which is money but you had absolutely no fun and there is where you fail at life when you take this game so seriously you'll do anything to get a level as fast as you can. I swear most of us started this game for fun and yet some turn away from that and grind to be better than their friend or beat their friend or the same for someone on the Hiscores. Frankly it's just sad sometimes. Maybe chinning is someones idea of fun. And who are you to judge them?! :shame: I can go to sara right now and get 43mil split or so because of luck.
