Now, the identity of this man has been revealed! His family thought he should reveal himself and get some recognition before he died.

It's amazing how long someone can keep a secret like that. When I researched a little into the watergate scandal I always wondered who deepthroat was; I remember making a comment to my friend about how he should tell the press when he was about to die. Guess someone else was thinking the exact same thing. :D

Of course, but it was a lot more celebrated at the time and his alias still got credit. And he knew it was him so he could still feel good about what he had done. I understand that he got pressured into revealing himself by others, but all you could gain right now is just more publicity and nothing worthwhile.
