mad4u689
In the early 1970s, reporters Woodward and Bernstein of the Washington Post did some major investigative reporting of the Watergate scandal... eventually leading to US President Nixon's resignation in the face of impending impeachment. One source, high-up in the chain of command with lots of inside info, leaked information that was vital to their investigation. This source was sworn to secrecy and had been nicknamed "Deep Throat." Now, the identity of this man has been revealed! His family thought he should reveal himself and get some recognition before he died. His name is Mark Felt and he was #2 in the FBI chain of command. http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/article ... 5709990025 A better article is available at the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com) but you need to sign up to read it. Evil_Elf
I still can't believe he willingly called himself "deep throat." By the way, use the bugmenot extension in FF (or go to bugmenot.com) to get into washingtonpost.
vladmoney
Uhm... cool! :? He did the right thing, and its cool he was able to keep a secret for so long. Great work. But his family seems a little bit to snobby if you ask me. Almost bragging for him, and persuading him to tell everyone, jeez. He is an old man if he didn't want to tell he didn't have to. A bit overly boastful if u ask me, but maybe they were just portrayed that way. wickedknight
It's amazing how long someone can keep a secret like that. When I researched a little into the watergate scandal I always wondered who deepthroat was; I remember making a comment to my friend about how he should tell the press when he was about to die. Guess someone else was thinking the exact same thing. :D

Peter
I thought deep throat was a porno. I thought I was going to have to lock this :). I guess its cool that this came out, but it means absolutely nothing to me. I guess you'd kinda have to be alive at the time or have a good knowledge of the event to know what's really happening. I was surprised that a mod already hadn't locked when I read the thread name lol. And I agree, I don't know a lot about it, Australian and all, presidential matters seem to only actually effect our prime minister, so he knows whos [wagon] he has to kiss. Bubsa
Wow what a guy. Now I can add a face to the mistique about him....Ok, the novelty's worn off. His legend will live on but revealing his identity isn't that big of a deal, because what are we meant to do with it? This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. Mercifull
Devil in Miss Jones was better  oh wait, what we talking about? I hadnt heard anything about it, i guess its a very American thing. It doesnt really affect anyone else but i did find this on the BBC. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4597503.stm So i guess now that little conspiracy is closed we can get on with finding out who shot Kennedy ^_^ Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Demeige
LOL I heard that on the news today and I was just flabbergasted that he would name himself after an oral sex "move." [/sexual innuendo] How does a profession differ from an occupation?
Ryan
Not really that interesting. It's not like he revealed himself and then brought out all this new information the public never heard before. Not worthy of all this attention imo.

Ryan
Not really that interesting. It's not like he revealed himself and then brought out all this new information the public never heard before. Not worthy of all this attention imo. Yup, that's the same feeling I got. However, there's no arguing that what he has done (as his alias) was pretty remarkable stuff. Of course, but it was a lot more celebrated at the time and his alias still got credit. And he knew it was him so he could still feel good about what he had done. I understand that he got pressured into revealing himself by others, but all you could gain right now is just more publicity and nothing worthwhile.
