Before I go on, I realise this is an announcement and my staff rank may be seen as an official Tip.It view. I want to say that is definitely NOT the case, and this is my personal opinion. But so what if they are? I agree with you when you say it's horrible to read. I too usually type in full prose, even on an IM service. It just seems natural to me. However, you have to realise most people don't attempt to write in perfect grammar while they're on the Internet. txt-speak has, whether you like it or not, become the social norm in how people communicate using the written word, and I'm not going to sit on my high horse and criticise others because they've missed out capital letters or punctuation when it's actually me in the minority who write in perfect grammar. All I ask is they attempt to put enough grammar to make the thread readable, and if people do genuinely have trouble reading what they're saying, that they go back and rewrite it instead of relying on a mod to clear up the mess, or replying with flames. If anything, I've found talking in txt-speak is actually more relaxing, which reduces tension, although obviously I'd still prefer to read good English. We've got to make Forum.Tip.It a generally more welcoming experience though, and flaming others for not using grammar is just a show of needless hostility, and could possibly even cause personal offence if the person in question suffers from dyslexia, or another learning disability. I REFUSE to let Tipit become a place where threads have titles like "Post ur fav cloths" And the original posters say things like "Ya mine is like a hoode and shots, dey r kewl", If let TheChamp and JB post stuff like that, soon will have to let more and more people doing it, after a while Tipit will be just like Myspace, 12 year olds posting topless picutres of Zac Effron say "Lol wat a cutie!" Thanks for the help ;) If you just ignore it, that is. As long as your report all trolling or spammy posts so that they get a mod's attention, we can cut them off. Problems arise when you either respond to the trolling, or let it be (since we mods simply can't read through all of Tip.it's posts); instead, give a good example to new users, and ignore & report all offending posts. Thanks for the help ;) Hey bud, you are over reacting. rushrock has the exact idea, report spammy or trolling posts, and ignore any that you don't want to deal with. TIF WILL NOT become a 4chan. Wanna know why? Because users here care, and are willing to help via reports and by not feeding trolls. It's working. Things are already much cleaner around here, and people are acting more mature. Just because TWO users out of the other hundred on this board start acting up, does not mean anything. And because the staff are not going to ban people for acting this way does not mean we are letting things by. I talked to the two users in question, and apparently English is not their first language. Know how I responded? I offered to help by giving them translators, so that they can post in their own language without having screwed up English. I got an offical warning for posting A RickRoll, but they made several spam threads, did many multi-year bumps, their bumps did not even contribute to the topics, I mean how does that not warrant a temp ban? In this case, you should be lenient and open-minded when you're thinking of banning them for good.
