RSBDavid
How about a forum for "grown-up" discussion (not uncensored discussion, just discussion adults would be more interested in) which doesn't have an age limit on it? For one, it's hard to determine whether someone is lying about their age, and secondly you'll have immature 18 year olds, while having mature 14 year olds. I don't understand this contradictory idea of "mature = uncensored discussion". I don't understand it either. As to your other part of post... That would still be good. I hate trying to make a mature conversation because some idiot using slang immature terms. For one, it's hard to determine whether someone is lying about their age, and secondly you'll have immature 18 year olds, while having mature 14 year olds. I don't understand this contradictory idea of "mature = uncensored discussion". I suggested that long ago, apparently it would take too much away from the Off Topic forum. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

I don't understand this contradictory idea of "mature = uncensored discussion". I like this idea and I agree mature does not mean uncensored. When I hear the word "mature" in the sense of forums and whatnot, I think of topics where it would be best to keep younger viewers out of due to bias views, not understanding things just yet, etc. It doesn't need to be uncensored, but a place for us to chat more freely than being heavily restricted as we seem to be right now. Honestly, I see little discussion value in many topics currently floating around here. A few quick examples: -The topic for pics of your shoes: Honestly, there's very little discussion to be had -The topic of the man stabbed/beheaded: It's all "He should be killed" and "He shouldn't be killed". Little more than that will be said. -The topic for pics of your room: It's nice to see where your fellow TIF users reside, but very little discussion value Internet Marketing For Newbies

llamster
It's a bit absurd that you're trying to make the TIF G-rated. The Spongebob Squarepants Movie was rated PG. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

warren211
The "ever caught them?" thread became pretty useful to some mods where any adult discussions could be moved there, while to other mods it was 4chan waiting to happen. The different standards of our little forum here means that discussions just barely on the borderline between appropriate and innapropriate are usually tugged around differently by different mods and eventually locked. I think a sticky similar to the "ever caught them" thread should be brought back, with detailed descriptions on what's good and what isn't, and strict punishments for anyone who blatantly crossed the line, and direct warnings when someone is pushing it. Tipiters seem to have different definitions of mature, and we need to set one standard for everyone. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Ginger_Warrior
I find it strangely ironic how those who used the "Ever caught them?" thread claim it drew in adult discussion into one place, when near enough all the adults on this board have called it for the hell-hole it was. What people fail to understand is that there aren't two levels of maturity - child and adult - but there are three levels. A fourteen year old isn't going to be interested in adult discussion OR universal discussion. There's a middle ground called puberty. This is the archetypal person who would be interested in topics like the "Ever caught them?" thread. Talking about boobs isn't adult discussion. It's adolescent discussion. There's a massive difference in maturity between the two. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
Da Pirates
I can understand why Ever Caught Them thread was removed, but why the funny pictures thread? It was seldom a mature picture was posted, just ones with bad language. If there was a "if it's blocked by the censor don't post it" mentality that thread would do fine. BR BR BR? Latinoking
I still don't get why these forums are even PG. I mean aren't parents suppose to watch little kids on the Internet, but even then RS is 13+ and since this forum is "geared" towards the game (RuneScape and RS is 13+) why not raise the "ratings" for these forums. I understand why the forums is G rated, for one can not use swear words, bad pics, and etc. but then again it's G rating isn't really enforced. G - General Audiences All ages admitted. No nudity, no sex, and no drugs, violence must be minimal, and there may be language that goes beyond polite conversations, such as the word darn. "Such as the word darn", yet I see words like damn (which is consider a bad word when people use it a certain way) all the time. I'm not saying these forums need to enforce the G rating more strongly, yet it seems like these forums are PG right off the back. The G rating has some gray area imo. Or else they're trying (and failing) to be funny, or just dont care about mods. I still think the Funny Pictures thread could be re-created, as long as no mature pics are to be posted, and that there's a clear warning sign that says that no mature pics are to be posted. Rainy_Day
I think the "Alone topic" is an example of how it wouldn't work. With a warning in that thread, users still ignore it. This would happen within an images thread. If users had the maturity needed to handle topics and not ignore warnings, then one would probably be allowed, but people just don't. It's not a majority I'm sure, it's a minority ruining it for the rest. But why should we risk people being able to post crude/inappropriate images openly thinking "haha this will be funny", when in fact it just gives us more work. They do it still just in random topics (the 4 chan topics has had a few). ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)RIP Michaelangelopolous
meol
I still think the Funny Pictures thread could be re-created, as long as no mature pics are to be posted, and that there's a clear warning sign that says that no mature pics are to be posted. That was my original mindset as well; I personally despise this attitude of a few spoiling the fun for the rest. However, people kept pushing the lines, posting bad pictures all over the place, and we had to put a lot of effort into cleaning the threads. Even when posts were deleted and people warned (and in some of the first attempts, banned) they went on. We've already have enough threads were we "post clear warnings" and enforce the rules, but it hasn't worked so far, it's always got out of control quickly. I hope that clears up why such threads were removed. This signature is intentionally left blank.

Everytime you open up any page in that topic , it will be there, and of course, you can exit it. For once, you'd have to speak with the Techies around here, I personally don't know if that's possible at all. Anyway, I'd say everyone knew about the warnings at that time. I doubt anyone -with, perhaps, a rare exception- posted offensive rules on accident, but rather on an attempt to troll/be funny, because "they didn't find the image offensive themselves", or simply to push the limits and test the mods. IMO, the warnings and rules were clear enough, but there were still some people breaking them despite deleted posts, warnings, etc. This signature is intentionally left blank.
