April 13, 200917 yr Sorry to hear that, but there isn't really much you can do about it. I'm sure living two hours away from her put a strain on things as well. Doesn't sound like it was your fault really. I wouldn't hold her to going to prom with you because it's pretty soon and a lot of people don't want to see the person they just broke up with. Since your prom is a little ways away ask her if she wants to go closer to the date of it. There is always the possibility of going alone or asking someone else as a means of getting over her if you don't think you will get back together with her in the near future. Also that whole "opposites attract" is total [cabbage], just doesn't work.

Still I don't know if I could do that. I need to sort out how I feel about her right now. Someone else suggested asking another girl to go as a friend also. This seems like the most logical course of action right now. I'll see how things progress and then decide. Thanks for the replies both of you. People who ask our advice almost never take it. Yet we should never refuse to give it, upon request, for it often helps us to see our own way more clearly.--Brendan Francis

Sorry, but at that age, I can only gather that they still think its like a social status thing, and with popular media the way it is, its too highly glamourised. April 15, 200917 yr It'll also make me 16 years without a girlfriend. W00t. Heck, I made it 19 years without a "girlfriend"(For full story, see last couple of pages.). Not saying serious relationships don't happen before college, but serious relationships don't happen until college/after high school. Believe it. Anything before that is not that likely to be worth it. Not directed at you, Da_Latios, I know you've got a head on you, but just in general.
April 15, 200917 yr see, my situation is that... i am extremely afraid of rejection. There is this girl in my class that i am head over heels for, I am completely and undoubtedly in love with her, but I am afraid of rejection and what would follow rejection. What I think that makes me fear rejection like I do is that two girlfriends have cheated on me and one of them cheated on me with numerous guys. So I am basically also saying that I am paranoid another girl will cheat on me. There is one more thing that blocks me from asking her on a date/to be my girlfriend is that what if we aren't friends again after that. We aren't best friends, but we are definitely friends. April 15, 200917 yr Well, I would say you've already made the first mistake, and that is being "head over heels" for someone without actually doing something about it first. That is to say, you should have done something about it when you realized you liked her, not wait until you are "head over heels." That definitely makes things easier. You can actually make conversation that way rather than be completely worried about whether you will say something wrong. That being said, you're in the situation now. Just remember that you should talk. Ignore any tightening in your stomach when you want to say something but aren't sure you want to say it, and just say it. Most people are forgiving, the hard part is forgiving yourself. This does not mean just run up to her and burst out every feeling you've ever had about her, but communicate. Ask her to a dance or something casual, where nothing is really forced, that's what I did. I got lucky, and everything kind of just happened.(Though the girl I was head over heels for I figured out isn't right for me, and have now gone the way I recommended in the first paragraph with someone.)

Look, either get over the fear or be controlled by it. Just because those others cheated on you, it doesn't mean she will. God, if you're thinking that she will cheat on you because others have then you deserve to be alone. Either ask her and find out what happens then live with it, or live in fear. Your choice. April 15, 200917 yr you should have done something about it when you realized you liked her, not wait until you are "head over heels." That definitely makes things easier. This. (is good advice) But now that you're in that situation you have a desicion to make. You have a history of having bad girlfriends. Its normal to fear the same thing from happening, and that's probably why you like this girl so much, because you were friends first, and with that comes trust. That's perfectly fine, but sometimes you're just going to have to bite the bullet and stick your neck out in the future. The "safe" choice" isn't always the best. If this girl likes you back, go for it. If not...do yourself a favor and just move on and continue it as a friendship. Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic.
