"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Featured Replies

Anyways, since I'm sure some noob will yell at me for spam (I seriously just wanted to post the above), I may as well just offer some advice anyways. So, maybe you've heard the saying "If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it's yours." Well, there are a lot of different ways to interpret that, but in the following sense, it's actually good advice. If you find yourself in a one way crush, or in your eyes in love/destined to be with someone for the rest of your life (;o) and they don't like you, and you're in the friendzone, I've actually found a potential escape route. Just drop contact with them. Don't ignore them; but don't cater to their every need either. Don't call/text them so often, stop acting so loving, quit dropping hints, and they may realize what they're missing. For me, it's worked every time, except I screwed up each one with an unrelated matter a few months later (that's just my luck).

Yep, piques interest. Cat-string. All that.

But I probably won't be interested in them, guys. I don't like long-term relationships. I just want to approach. Hopefully my friends will watch and I can teach them to be good wingmen. I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete.

It is not a perfect metaphor.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Hi, guys. My brother gave me his account so I use this now. Anyways..

Im 13 and like this girl. Theres a catch though, shes 15 and 2 months from 16, and my sister's bestfriend. The girl I like, whos name is Valentina, is great. She hangs out with me, watches movies with me, and plays football with me. Not to mention I think she is beautiful. She knows I like her, but the age difference between us causes a problem. She doesnt know how much I think about her, like everday almost every second. Shes staying the night over my house this Friday and I can't wait because shes awesome to hang out with. I've known her since I was 12, actually through my sister. She sais im cute , but I dont know if it's the just kid kind of cute. Not being able to date her sucks, and everytime she gets near me or hugs me it makes it alot harder. Theres also another really personal detail about it, anyone who cares to know just message me. Should I resist liking her? I cant say I love her, but I dont know what you call thinking about her everyday, love being with her, all that stuff. I know when she's older shes moving to california for college, because shes like really smart. She said when she finishes college shes moving to Romania, since she was born there. Id go with her if I had too if we could be together (yes I know cheesy) I mean 20 and 22 , not a big difference right?

Better go to her and tell her how you feel, if she actually means the cute cute, then youre a very lucky man!

She knows how I feel, and I tink she means the cute cute. Shes said to me before If I was a little older she would date me, but eh. 13 sucks. Before I told her how I felt about her, she told me she had a dream that we were walking on a beach, and we were both 20. I interuppter and said, how did I look? Her answer was pretty sexy  Anyways she said I kissed her, she kissed me back, and one thing lead to another. So I sure hope that means something if im in her dreams. :D But being away from her makes me feel un-whole, hard to explain. She tried to stress to me she wasnt that attractice, and about what she looks like in the morning. Tbh, I think she looks just as beautiful in the morning. All she had to say about that is "Then It seems you dont go out much" And when im laying down and she lays down next to me? Geez, Knowing I cant make a move sucks. hard.

Personally I think she just thinks of you as cute as in, her friend's little brother. But, hey, give it a shot. At the very least, if you get rejected, it'll cure this one-itis you got going. So, if you feel up for it, just go, hey, maybe we should do something as more than friends sometime.

Sounds like a plan!

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

By the way, when she said she'd date you if you were older, she might have just been play-flirting and not have actually meant it. Maybe once you guys are older, you can be together, but if it doesn't work out now, don't hold your breath, there's other girls out there.

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

Well how do you know there isn't someone even more awesome, even smarter, funnier, and possibly your age too? Maybe there's a girl you know that you'd go perfectly with, if you only payed attention to her.

I remember 13, that was a terrible time to be a guy. Every girl you liked was "the one" and you couldn't realize that, in reality, she was just the best looking girl you talk to. If I'm you, I'd tell her and if it happens, cool. If not, move on and don't waste time thinking about it, even though thats hypocritical because I know I did the same thing when I was younger, as did most people.

Here's my (short) story :

So , school's about to start again , and there is a girl I am atracted to (How obvicious).

Most of my girlfriends were people that I was friends with , and it just 'grow' to a relationship , but I really feel atracted to her..

I'm not shy , but I just KNOW things like 'Hey I'm [NAME]' won't work with her (and others to)

The reason it's hard for me is because I didn't had the best experiences with her friends (at te time I was a complete dork).

So what is your advice on talking to a 'stranger' and getting to know her?

(I have no problems with my looks , at party's , girls come to ME , instead of ME going to HER , so that probably means I'm ok with that  (I had a good laugh writing this sentence XD).

But this is a different story , I have NO idea what she likes , and I have reall no idea what to start talking about after the 'Hi I'm [NAME]' , asking for where she lives , what she does in school won't work , really (Because I look at here netlog regulary (omg I'm a stalker :x ) )

So :

How do I approach her without being an idiot?

What kind of things do I talk about (OK , Now I'm an idiot)?

General tips?

Other things I can do (in general , or for the girl specifically)

Thanks ::'

Her telling you that dream was the sign that she liked you more than 'aww you're cute'.

Think how awkward it is for her to be even considering liking you, think of what her friends would say. Hence this is why she would never go public with you. Your closest bet is to get a bit of fun out of this behind closed doors. But first of all you need to tell her that you like her and that you understand that the age difference will mean you cannot go public, however in the meantime you would like to take the relationship further and have some fun. Make sure you make her feel like it's her dream and that you're the prize not the other way round.

A friend to all is a friend to none.

the school situation is a really awkward one. Simply because of the number of cliques and groups there are. Hence it's really difficult to try and talk to a girl that's not in your classes and not in your circle of friends. What I used to do is use a middleman(woman in most cases). This way I would tell the middleman that I like girl X and I want you to introduce us (of course the middleman would have to know the girl). Now the introduction usually followed like so; I'd talk to the middleman and make loads of complements about girl X , and tell the middleman to tell girl X that I would like to get to know her and to ask the girl her number and pass it onto me. If the middleman comes back with she doesn't want to or she has a bf, etc. Then I get the message and I tried. The girl then knows I tried so when she changes her mind or has a breakup she knows I like her. Then of course because she knows you like her you can share smiles when walking past each other and say goodmorning etc. This usually sparks little conversations which then lead on to other things.

If the option of the middleman isn't possible, then you would have to rely on the smile whilst walking past and saying "good morning I like what you've done with your hair" or something like that to start off the short conversation. Of course do this when she's alone away from her friends.

best of luck

A friend to all is a friend to none.

Most of my girlfriends were people that I was friends with , and it just 'grow' to a relationship , but I really feel atracted to her..

That's a very bad way to have relationships. Growing is very passive and slow, and usually you just stick together because you're all each other know.

I'm not shy , but I just KNOW things like 'Hey I'm [NAME]' won't work with her (and others to) Wrong. It's the only thing that does work.

The reason it's hard for me is because I didn't had the best experiences with her friends (at te time I was a complete dork).

So? Changing completely is the best topic. Kids are all over you if you change a lot over summer, it's been like that for me since I went to the West Coast.

So what is your advice on talking to a 'stranger' and getting to know her?

...Talk to her. Just walk up and start talking. Be confident dammit.

(I have no problems with my looks , at party's , girls come to ME , instead of ME going to HER , so that probably means I'm ok with that  (I had a good laugh writing this sentence XD).

No. Girls don't like to approach guys. It goes against everything that's hardwired into their DNA. The man is supposed to be the one to approach the woman, it's been like that since prehistory and it sucks really bad. But, hey, it can be fun.

But this is a different story , I have NO idea what she likes , and I have reall no idea what to start talking about after the 'Hi I'm [NAME]' , asking for where she lives , what she does in school won't work , really (Because I look at here netlog regulary (omg I'm a stalker :x ) )

...Okay as to the last part, you should really stop doing that, because it's really creepy. But try TALKING to her. If you know every single thing about her when you first meet her, not only do you sound creepy as living [bleep] [bleep]s, there's absolutely nothing to talk about.

So :

How do I approach her without being an idiot? Approaching and talking to her. Since it's obvious you don't want to use the, er, methods I do, just go straight-up confidence. Walk up to her. Tell a joke or something. I'd recommend not asking her name or telling her yours. Girls like a guy with a little mystery. Use body language to say you're a) confident and B) ready to walk off and leave her there. Just have an honest-to-God conversation, DAMN IT.

What kind of things do I talk about (OK , Now I'm an idiot)? Just let it flow, bro.

General tips? Body language. Stand erect, hands by your side not playing with anything. Walk and talk slowly, and project your voice, especially if it's loud.

Other things I can do (in general , or for the girl specifically) Stop being a creepy stalker.

Thanks ::'[/hide]

My answers were bolded. Take them as you will.

Also, while school is much more tricky than the real world, I do not recommend using someone else to try and get a girl's number. It's nowhere near as ballsy as walking up and asking her.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Alright guys, god knows how long I've been putting off posting this, but yeah, I need some help.

First of all, a bit of basic information about me. I'm 16, I live in England, and I'm depressed. I have been depressed for over a year now and it feels like [cabbage]. The depression has mostly been brought on by loneliness, which I find is getting worse every day. Hell, it hurts. Really badly. I want to find a nice girl to be with, so I can stop feeling so bad. I have a number of problems though.

First of all, I know NO girls at all who I am attracted to. Plus I have very few female friends to begin with, most of which I can't get in contact with anyway.

Following on from the last sentence, most of my friends all live huge distances from me, and therefore we can't really meet up to 'hang out'. So I'm pretty much alone in both friendship and relationship standards.

I have big issues with going on buses alone, this being a part of a disorder I have. (Aspergers syndrome, if you need to know. This also effects my social skills, making things much more difficult for me). So this is another irritating problem.

There is nowhere in my city where I can go to meet girls. Too young for things like clubs, pubs, and things like that. You'd think I should join a club that involves something I enjoy, but I have no idea how to even begin finding one. Plus I have very few active interests.

As you may have previously guessed, I'm quite shy, and really have no idea how I'd even start a conversation if I ever DID find a girl. I'm NOT going to go up to a random cute girl on the street and start talking to her.

All I've done this summer was sit here at the computer, gaming away my life. And I hate it.

Please, I really need help.

ezegyc.png

That's why you're on the TZDF blackdawn. Even your balls can tear zombies to shreds.

Nobody's going to give you some magical solution. You're in a terrible mind frame, for one thing. If you think it's impossible for you to meet girls or join a club or make friends, it will be impossible. If you think you're depressed, then you are! You need to start thinking you're a cocky, cool, hot piece of [wagon]. For one thing, start sitting up straight.

Now, for one thing: have you actually been diagnosed with Asperger's? Because it seems like anyone who spends a lot of time playing games and not being social thinks they do. Not trying to be an [wagon], but if you're a hypochondriac, you need to realize it NOW before it really gets out of hand.

Anyways. You have to start with your mind frame. You think every single thing to improve must be so hard, and your situation makes it impossible - all wrong. Don't want to get on the bus? Walk, take a bike. If you live in a moderately sized city, there will be plenty of places to meet girls. I mean, you could always wait for school, but that won't help as much as just walking around. Maybe go to a shopping mall. A big thing is, you need to make more friends, preferably ones that live close and/or drive.

If you only think you can stay in your house, your mind and body will force you into staying. You need to walk around, enjoy life! Also, I thought the legal drinking age was 16 in England?

That's about as well as it could have been said, you just have the WORST mindframe. From like 10-12 I was a straight up playa', all the ladies. Then I started smoking weed and skateboarding, I didn't have a girlfriend from 12-18, it was horrible, when I was 16 i felt just like you. Don't worry though man, you probobly feel like at your age you should be all over girls, but you have a long life ahead of you. Things can change completely, make a total 180', it happend for me and it can happen for you. Just get out more, walk around, even if you have nothing to do just get yourself in the public.

First of all, thanks for replying.

Yes, I have been diagnosed with Aspergers. That is one thing that is concrete.

Making friends has always been an issue for me, the only ones I ever managed to get were those from school. But seeing as I've finished school that isn't an option. Although, I begin college in a few weeks, so that could be a chance. As for the alcohol, I promised myself I'd never drink. I hate the stuff anyway.

We don't really have shopping malls around here, all we have is a few shops people get stuff from, then leave. You just don't talk to strangers around here, if you do, you're considered weird and the ones you're speaking to will simply walk off.

Honestly though, I've heard all that 'act cocky, confident, hot [wagon]' stuff all the time. It makes it no easier. Believe me, I've tried getting into mindframes like that, but I can just never manage it. I'm NOT the sort of person who will act incredibly confident around complete strangers. I can act completly fine around friends, but not strangers.

That's why you're on the TZDF blackdawn. Even your balls can tear zombies to shreds.
[hide=]Here's my (short) story :

So , school's about to start again , and there is a girl I am atracted to (How obvicious).

Most of my girlfriends were people that I was friends with , and it just 'grow' to a relationship , but I really feel atracted to her..

If you know every single thing about her when you first meet her, not only do you sound creepy as living [bleep] [bleep], there's absolutely nothing to talk about.

Thanks ::'[/hide]

My answers were bolded. Take them as you will.

Also, while school is much more tricky than the real world, I do not recommend using someone else to try and get a girl's number. It's nowhere near as ballsy as walking up and asking her.

not as 'ballsy' but the other person knows the girl and can put in a good word for you. I'm just telling him what worked for me from personal experience tis all.

A friend to all is a friend to none.

Blackdawn, if you just get yourself into the public and let people recognize your face, eventually strangers will talk to YOU. Just don't seem like it's wierd for you to be there, act like it's something you always do and something you're used to. Maybe it will start with regular adults, maybe a young kid will talk to you, who knows. All I know is that you have to start meeting people, anyone, anywhere.

wait till college, there will be loads of girls to approach and friends to make. Don't go into it simply hoping to fulfil a gap in your life go in there to add something to your life as an extra not as a centre piece. Don't go in serious - that will probably scare girls off, have a bit of fun and relax and see how things go from there. About making friends, I know people say stuff like be yourself but that's rubbish be better of yourself. Make an effort with people observe what makes them laugh and happy and try and do that. Act cool, calm and collective but don't be an [wagon] kisser. Always stick to your principles, about the not drinking - Your friends will probably want to, you can say your on antibiotics and can't drink so while they are drinking away have a coke.

Think of socializing as a game the more time you spend doing it the better you become. No one is born with friends and a gf we all start as lvl 1 noobs, you have to train your sense of humour, charm, etc. And to train is to put yourself in social situations. Sure you'll make things awkward, people may laugh at you, make fun of you but so be it, you're learning. As you see what makes others tick you can adjust yourself to get along with people.

Good luck

Well said, the only way to learn social competence is through practice and experience.

That might be how it works in America, but in England it doesn't go like that. I've honestly never seen someone start talking to a complete stranger off the street. I DO plan on going out more, even if it's just a walk. Hell, I'm gonna try and go tomorrow. Although there are few places I can actually walk to.

I expected someone to say wait for college. It was pretty much my only option anyway.

Although, I really don't think anything to do with gaming should be on my mind when I work on my social skills. Even if you used it as an example, it just doesn't seem like a good idea. My sense of humour is rather good already, seeing as I can make people laugh quite easily. My charm may need some work, ect. But yeah, thanks to you both for the replies.
