Kiriyama
An interesting idea. The art looks pretty good, and I like the idea of using the fluids to help describe the symbol and meaning of her art. I don't really see a problem with this. People can do what they want. If we can do what we want... Then why the hell would there be such things as crime. This is just taking disgusting to a whole new level. Theres art, and then theres art. If she needs these materials to help convey her meaning, then she's a really [cabbage] artist. Theres art, and then theres art. If she needs these materials to help convey her meaning, then she's a really [cabbage] artist. That's not what I meant, and you know it. The fluids are just a creative way to show the meaning through her art. It's quality work. Have you viewed the paintings? It may be different, but it's still art. I'm not going to put a limit on something so abstract as art, and neither should you. Or anyone else, for that matter.

I disagree with you on most of your points, other than the fact that it is a little disgusting. An artist can do whatever they want when creating their art, providing it's lawful and not harming anyone. I don't think there was any use in you making that comment about crime. Breaking conventions does not make an artist any better or worse, though perhaps a little more interesting. Artists are not defined by their ability to paint excellently or sculpt excellently, but by the emotions they can portray - through whatever medium they choose. An author who chooses to include illustrations in his book shouldn't be thought of as any less of a skilled word smith for including them. It might just be that it helped to create the overall package or feeling that he was trying to achieve. I don't see the merit in the piece myself, but to dismiss it because it's unconventional and not interesting to me would be supremely arrogant. La lune ne garde aucune rancune. And it's not like it's any kind of "special" blood, it's still just blood, and there's nothing wrong with painting in blood. Command the Murderous Chalices! assassin_696
Strange, but probably inevitable in the world of art, which is inherently constantly pushing social norms and taboos. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

Or is it just the though that she used "body fluids" to paint with? It's pointless. I've no problem with her using her own menstrual fluids if that's what she's really into, I just find it evidence that she's obviously a bad artist if she needed to do this to convey what she was trying to express in her paintings. There is nothing special about this art except what it's made out of, and what it's made out of doesn't exactly have a point either. Unless this painting was supposed to get us to challenge our own views surrounding women having periods, it has achieved nothing. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
Nadril
Ginger, I think you're pretty ignorant to completely shrug off an artistic idea because it goes beyond traditional mediums. I'm not trying to say that I understand the point this person was trying to make, but rest assured people don't just start menstruating all over their art for the hell of it I disagree with you on most of your points, other than the fact that it is a little disgusting. Ginger_Warrior
Ginger, I think you're pretty ignorant to completely shrug off an artistic idea because it goes beyond traditional mediums. That's not the reason I dislike this art at all. What emotion is being portrayed in this art that couldn't otherwise be achieved through a more conventional medium? This is simply to create a 'shock' value. Likewise, I shouldn't appreciate art simply because it doesn't follow traditional mediums. Art has to have a point. You yourself have admitted you can't understand the point in this art either. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

warren211
Meh, I don't see much wrong with this. Sure, its body fluids. But so what? The painting looks pretty good, the idea is the cycle of a body function in a woman. its funny, the art world tolerates pictures of naked people, often people engaging in intercourse, but then they see an image of a natural body function and vomit uncontrollably. And then there's you guys, many of whom frequently visited the "mature content" tagged threads that are now gone, laughing at the disgusting stories and engaging in discussions that cross all lines of sanity, and then gag at the thought of how this picture was created. #-o [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. VjuliusT
The painting itself looks "pretty" good in my opinion, Quite annoying that people get all "" over the thought that it's made out of menstrual fluid. I also agree with the quote that Nadril included in his post and Nadrils post itself. Just another weird person looking for attention.I can't really see how this is a scream of attention unless she called the press herself, didn't bother to read the whole article as I'm tired.
