First off, nice guide. =D> Second, I'm kind of new to all of this Bursting/Barraging stuff, but I heard something about Giant Rock crabs in the Chaos tunnels? Are these better than Lobs?

I've just been kind of confused about it.

Those run away at low health, and the ice effects don't stop them...

There are actually two rooms with them though; the one I tried is an entrance room. The other room may work better...

Posting in this guide for later today.

Felt the urge to use 9m in bursts to propel me back into summoning and will leave my 800 crmis short of 90 sum.

Should also get 15.7m mage xp from this. <3:

My only question. How long does using 1k casts take? :?:

My only question. How long does using 1k casts take? :?:

One of the things I've never really tracked, most of my trips I end up logging out and can last a couple days lol. If I was to give a very rough estimate I'd say 1k bursts could be done in 45mins and 1k barrages could be done in about 75mins but again these are just very rough estimates.

~>~Check Out My Bursting Guide~<~

Current goals - 99 Slayer, 99 Summoning, 85 Dungeoneering

Achieved goals - Quest Cape, 99 Strength, 85 Slayer, 99 Range, 88 Summoning, 90 Slayer, 99 Magic, 99 Farming

OUch, that's off very far for a guy who has made a whole guide about this.

You can do 500-600 casts an hour. Personally, I manage an average of around 570.

Thanks guys. :D

Went there for my first time today. A lot easier then I thought it'd be.

I over estimate everything in this damn game. #-o

Yea well I did say it was rough, took the data for average casts used per lure (15 for barrage, 25 for burst) and did some calculations with some numbers I thought sounded right. Guess I'm just not very good at estimating. :P

I think I know why it was wrong: It's only 18-22 bursts a lure. Certainly not 25. 20 or so should be the average.

Yea I just took the data off the info for this (

) youtube video Muggi posted a couple pages back so yea it's most likely wrong.

Is it worth a third age amulet and third age mage hat to burst? or should i just use a fury instead of a amulet?

And you may find arcane spirit shields the best in the shield spot

If you can afford it I don't see why not but fury does the job fine and having max mage bonus is not really necessary, I've been using a setup to conserve run energy lately and have not noticed any difference in the amount of charms I'm getting. The shield is the best that you can wear but only an elite few can afford one or got lucky enough to ls one.

As mentioned before, infinity robeskirt is an excellent replacement (shaves off a ton of weight).

And for those who want to bring pray boosting equipment, replacing proselyte with monk robes also saves tons of weight. I have yet to notice a real problem with getting ripped apart by the range dags while wearing monk robes (and I'm fairly certain monk robes have a better mage def than proselyte, making wallasakis less dangerous0.

Excellent guide andylax.

  • 1 month later...

This is my current setup. I tele to waterbirth with the lyre, using my fremmy boots 3. Then I bank both of those using my imp box. I have someone else open doors and bring axe. I also bring a terrorbird filled with 3 monkfish for running to lobs.

I don't get hit that much so I don't bother bringing verac's skirt or something, and my run practically never goes below 70%.

Last trip I got 580k xp from 3k bursts and 110 blood bursts, and got 862 crimsons.

@ D Jay99 - Unique setup very cool, whatever works for you man. Also I have most of the weight reducing gear in my second setup in the guide.

@ Dillingham1 - Appreciate it, good luck with summon, one of my goals for the summer too :P

great guide, helped with the setup alot...one question though...is it best to finish off all the lobsters or get more lobsters once you have less than 4-5 of them in the safespot.

Good question and the only answer I can give is I'm not really sure. I personally always just finish them off since it's still pretty good experience and the ones I have already killed usually don't respawn until I finish all 9 lobs. Only way to really know the answer to this would be to test it. I think finishing off all the lobsters is faster but you might get more charms per trip if you waited for them to respawn once you got down to like 3-5 lobsters.

I'd say killing all 9 lobs is the best. Once you have killed ~5 of them the rest are under 1/3rds of their hp too, so they take like max 5 bursts to kill. If you were to wait and kill new lobs, it would take you at least a minute more (respawn + luring). Plus, you'd have all those unfinished lobs walking around, so you'll have to kill them next time anyway.

I personally wouldn't bother, it probably gets you slower xp and less crims/burst, just more xp/burst.

so:

wealth = crims

seers = more kills

life = chance to save 44m if i were to die

what do you guys say?

I always go with life, I don't think wealth has any effect here, since it is only suppose to effect rare drops and when your killing a monster that drops crims fairly regularly like rock lobs I doubt crims are considered a rare drop. Seers will get you a few more kills but I don't think it's worth the risk. Dieing and losing everything when you've already been there for two hours is just awful.

Explorers is the best if you're going for effectiveness, from what I've heard, 4 mage bonus don't do anything if you've got decent mage attack.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

Hi,

Very nice guide. I have a question, sorry if you have already stated it somewhere.

How long does a "trip" take you? Trying to figure "Crimsons per hour".

Thanks.

Thank you and to answer your question, I've been told that when bursting the average cast's per hour is 550. So if you use my bursting trips which were all done using 3150 casts and divide that by 550 cast per hour you get 5.73 hours per trip. Then taking my average crimson charms per trip which is 914.2 and dividing that by 5.73 hours you get 159.5 crimsons per hour. Also keep in mind that you get other charms while bursting too not just crimsons (even though they are the real reason your there :P).

7 pages of posts ..so it's easier to ask a few things here.

Smoke barrage or ice burst?(barrage is cheaper and more xp).

Average amount of charms/1k casts.I use all the charms.

Thanks for the info.
