August 1, 200817 yr It's total in far northern Canada, across northern Russia and into central China. It's partial across a lot of Europe; people in upstate Maine USA can see the sun rise in partial eclipse. The official NASA site is being hammered right now; here's the Wikipedia page. August 1, 200817 yr The animation on Wikipedia isn't very clear, I'm not sure if it'll hit Taiwan. If it does, it'll be around sunset. :o Never seen a solar eclipse, but I've seen a bunch of lunars. Both partial and total. Edit: Damn. It stops right before a bit before Taiwan. I wonder if my friends in China will see it. I guess if I'm ever going to see a solar eclipse, it'll be the one in 2022 (I think, might be 2020) in Vermont. ...Or not. It's going to partial in western Taiwan. I don't know if I count...Only one way to find out! Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu.

I seriously hope that I can see it as today is going to be over in approx 7 hours... 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00 Break the Walls down!
August 1, 200817 yr Author Here's some screencaps for those of you who don't get NASA TV, or couldn't hook up to the web site. These pictures are from somewhere in remote China, out near the Mongolian border. Nice prominences. About the middle of it. A nice, calm corona. Diamond ring: put your eye protection back on! August 1, 200817 yr I've seen about 12 or so eclipses where I live, Canada. Don't know if that's a lot or what, but eclipses seem kind of boring lol. I've seen a purple eclipse once, and that was very interesting, though I don't think it was the sun & the moon, it was something other than the moon, an asteroid or comet I think. I forget, I researched it lightly, but don't remember, could someone inform me of what I saw again? Or were they gases?
August 1, 200817 yr I saw it start where I live at about 11:43, I'm too far north for a full eclipse :( . It was 8 years ago I saw a full one.

August 1, 200817 yr #-o It was cloudy. As in...It's going to start pouring rain like crazy soon. So if the Sun was blocked by the moon (Here, at least), it was also blocked by clouds as well. Though it was a bit darker than usual, so perhaps... Dsavi, got any pictures? I've seen a ton of general ones, from Heroes ( :P ) and while I was working on a science project, but none taken by well...Not professional people. August 1, 200817 yr I thought I heard somewhere that total solar eclipses occur every 300 years, but I wouldn't be surprised because my 8th grade science teacher didn't know squat. can someone show me a list of future solar eclipses? I tried on wiki but nothing came up.

But it's like dragon chainbody drops; you can have two very close together and they can be further apart. There's another total eclipse in China next July. August 1, 200817 yr Well I do know that that was the last solar eclipse in Finland for 118 years. :( I hope I don't live long enough to see it, I'll be 132 years old.
August 1, 200817 yr What solar eclipse? Translation: I missed it, if it was even available where i lived :wall:
