vaping is so dumb. in theory it's really not bad at all but everyone i see vaping in public is some huge [wagon] blowing clouds of [bleep]ing cotton candy shit into the realm of multiple pedestrians, or some fedora-clad guy with a goatee doing it inside a building or something.

My wife was a very occasional smoker (a pack would go stale before she would finish it). A friend gave her his old vaporizer and she now hits it pretty often. She mostly uses nicotine-free liquid, but it still smells disgusting and always seems to follow me.

God damn it I forgot to turn on the WiFi on my phone earlier after briefly turning it off and I accidentally used a shit ton of data watching YouTube videos and stuff. Welp.

Does disabling wifi actually have a meaningful impact on battery life? I have unmetered LTE, so I generally just use that unless I specifically want access to something on the local network.
Not sure regarding the battery life, I disabled it because I was automatically connected to a very weak network while trying to load something. Phone kept trying to load it thru that network, I disabled it to just load it on data. Forgot to turn wifi back on :/

@ammako just turned that setting on, thanks

Went to a Renaissance Fair today, got super sunburned. It's October, what the [bleep]?

Lucky you. I went outside today once and wondered about frostbite. (Jokingly, but still)

It's not that cold yet is it?

Definitely not that cold yet, but our weather just suddenly when from 20 ish degree days to barely getting out of the single digits.

Yeah I don't get it either. My apartment is either really cold or really hot. There's no in between.

Don't have this?

You'd quickly notice videos are crap quality and remember you aren't on wifi :P

Or if you're on an iPhone just disable data for the Youtube app.

I just started reading Moby Dick at the recommendation of a friend.  The prose is gorgeous, I haven't been this engrossed in the language and structure of a book in a long time.  I'm only 2 chapters in (of 135), but I'm really enjoying it so far.

I'm also reading it out loud to myself, which really helps me to appreciate the writing more and forces me to actually look up things that I don't understand.  I might try to grab a physical copy from the library though, it's tough for me to read on a screen.

Just got back from an event.

Made one post.

To one single FB community with 200 members.

And that was it.

And I got 50+ people to the event.

And it all went brilliantly.

I am in [bleep]ing heaven.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

What a stupid fad

I don't get the cloud chasing fad, but you can get juices/coils that don't produce ridiculous clouds and are pretty much just like smoking without the cancer. At least once a week I see some douche walk into a bus shelter puffing on a dart, looks just as stupid.

I don't understand. Why would you want to do this, unless you're trying to wean yourself off smoking?

I don't know anybody who does it, but I always thought that was the idea.

Unrelated, and I've probably said it before, but I'll say it again. Phone interviews are, in my opinion, the one of the worst supposedly good things ever. Don't get me wrong, I understand how they can be beneficial to both sides. I just think that, for me, they do nothing but portray me as an overly cynical person. Anybody who has spent actual time with me knows I'm not, but I can't really express my true self via a phone conversation. Apparently I, through sighs and the like, showcase all kinds of negativity on the phone that I am quite adept at either hiding or ignoring in any other instance.

In case you haven't figured it out, yes I had a phone interview in the last hour. It was for a job I don't want (some general warehousing position), with a company I don't care about one way or the other (Coca-Cola), and lasted less than 4 minutes (3:43, to be precise). That might sound bad, but 4 minutes of my time, in person, has gotten me jobs in the past. Of course, I already know that, if I get this job, my time with the company will only end when they choose to end it.

I enjoy smoking but not the smell, cost, dry mouth and cancer it brings. I wasn't 100% sold on vaping but I tried a friend's and it's just as satisfying as a cigarette imo. So not really trying to wean myself off smoking as much as find a replacement for it.

Yeah phone interviews suck pretty bad. When I was looking for a job, almost all of my interviews were over the phone/Skype and it was such a pain in the ass. I guess it was less of a pain than traveling to interviews, but still

It is much cheaper for companies to do it that way. They don't have to pay to fly/house you for a short interview.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

As I said, I can understand how they can benefit both sides. They just don't allow me to show my positive self, like the in-person ones, and it shows. I am currently a lifetime 3-for-3 in-person and 0-for-3 on the phone.

Yeah I've never gotten a job via phone interview. I cant hear through my phone well and everything about it is impersonal and shitty.

I've gotten a followup interview every time I've had a phone interview >_>

I always ask them basic friendly questions right when the call starts (e.g. how's your day going) and try to get them to open up a little. As for the interview itself, I've got a list of questions I expect them to ask and a list of my carefully-crafted answers which I can just read verbatim out of my notes so that way it's articulated perfectly... as opposed to an in-person interview where I need to memorize and practice my responses to their questions beforehand.

Yeah I had some good luck getting follow up interviews, but the only 2 job offers I got from phone interviews kinda lowballed me a bit. The best offer I got was from an in person interview

I see muggi and RPG have a competition of who has more posts.

Right now muggi is in the lead with just 1 post :D

In other news, I haven't slept in 4 days, my lips are all bloody, and I haven't weighed so little in over 5 years.

Seriously, my BMI is under 20 right now. By quite a bit.

Well, I have slept, I just haven't slept enough. Had something to do all the time. Either a field trip coming up at 8 AM after arriving home from another event at 4 AM and so...

Did sleep properly today though. And am not expecting to sleep less until weekend.
