The night saw Russian rap, ambulance, drunk Belarusians, pretty much the highest authority in choir world in Estonia (we both sing in a choir, so this guy is like a god to us) so drunk that he was asleep on a toilet, the President of our country and a ridiculously jealous cat.

It sounds like you survived the events. Did you enjoy your date being there with you for the experiences?

Think of the people you like being around. Chances are, they'll generally reflect positivity--talk about things they ARE doing rather than things they can't / don't have time for, talk about people they DO like rather than people who annoy them, talk about where they WANT to go in life rather than brood over the opportunities they've lost for whatever reason.

 

My golden rule is that if there really is no positive way of looking at something, turn it into a joke, or else don't bother mentioning it to strangers or acquaintances. Your friends would probably care, but strangers won't.

I have zero self control it seems. Spent a juicy $350 on Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. Pretty much bought a ton of new clothes and shoes. 

I spent nothing. Didn't see any worthy deals.

Oh on the subject of first dates: I've found that it helps to invite them to something you were already planning on doing.

 

Like if you like to go out to lunch on Thursdays, go ahead and invite a girl with you once in a while. Just try to go to a cute bistro or something instead of like McDonald's. Or if you like going to trivia, you can invite her to that.

 

That way it doesn't feel like a high pressure situation, just sharing part of your life with someone new.

 

It also forces you to do things besides work, gym, and sleep on week days.

Jetlag is lame.

Had a hook-up with the same girl I went out on a date on Saturday with and my car died in her backyard. First freezing weather of the year, but still, awkward...

And the car has never failed like this before. Probably some gunk in diesel filter, which froze overnight, and thus it doesn't have high enough fuel pressure.

I ran into this when I was buying parts for my PC a couple years back. I think it was like B&H photography? I just sat there like, since when does the sabbath apply to machines? There's no human involved here, why is your website closed?

 

And now they send me a phone book of full-color prints of their catalog every year, despite the fact I've never even visited the site since.
