I havent been on Tumblr in a couple years now, but porn/adult content is a HUGE part of their userbase. Plus now they're going to have no user base, so good luck with ad revenue there.

 

At least NewGrounds might be relevant again

Tumblr's advertisers are 100% made up of absurdist clickbait articles and nothing else. No major brands since Denny's have used tumblr as an advertising platform. And I can't imagine the kind of clickbait junk that's advertising on tumblr is really worried about being seen next to porn, so...

And my majority conjecture was regarding adult content as a whole, not just porn. While porn is the main target, there have been posts of much more ambiguous content being removed en mass.

Upon further digging it seems that Tumblr's extreme reaction is an early attempt at shedding liability for sex trafficking which according to newly introduced US laws (SESTA and FOSTA) they could be(liable) even if completely unknowledgably. How this shit became law is beyond me, but given our current administration it shouldn't surprise me.

Agreed. Looking at it, it buts up against Tauros, which is I assume why it's not farther south. But, honestly, just let them overlap, no one lives that far north anyway.
