dru89
Ha, so I came back after about a year's leave [again] approximately a month ago, and my first thought was, "Well, hey! I know they've got construction, why don't I just give that a go?" The whole problem to me is that it seems to be basically a scam to spend a lot of money. With any other skill, excluding summoning, because I'm noticing more and more that it has the same problem with spirit shards, you can be pretty much self-sufficient if you're willing to work long enough. You've got what I would consider to be your "base skills" that you can use to level up your other skills, e.g. Woodcutting for Firemaking or Fletching. Construction doesn't seem to have any of this. In fact, what seems to be required is an endless supply of cash. All I'm saying is, if we could just get the ability to make our own cloth bolts and make our own of the different kinds of planks... things like that, (introduce a quest where we can learn how to do it, I don't honestly care how it's introduced), it would greatly reduce the cost, in my opinion, and make it a skill that, at least to me, would be much more enjoyable. I don't honestly care that I have to pay for a new room every time it's built, I'll understand that one, but I would like to see construction come to a point where it could be much more self-sufficient instead of having to buy everything to get it to work. blakdragon39
It was introduced as a money drain, and I believe they want to keep it that way. Plus, in it's own way I guess, it gives people a certain level of respect for high level Construction, because they had to have worked hard to get the kind of money needed for that high level. I think it's fine the way it is. Gives people something to spend their money on anyways. :o
Shazarabbit
Complete The Lunar Isle quests to make your own planks at a cheaper price (using a spell). It was introduced to take a large chunk of the money from the game that alching brought in. I think it's fine for the benefits it gives you (Alters, in house glories, teleports, repairs). Boris5000
Even though I it a money drain, I am definetly benefitting from it... I only have 51 contruction but portals, mounted glory and chapel are very useful. Also lecturns are slowish magic xp yet I can still make a small profit... Psycho_Robot
Complete The Lunar Isle quests to make your own planks at a cheaper price (using a spell). That spell is useless. Sure its a few gp cheaper, but you need 2 astral runes and 1 nature rune for each and every plank. If you bought the runes it'd be more expensive than just going to the sawmill. And crafting the runes to save a minuscule amount on the planks is a waste of time. You could craft 3k nats in the time it took to craft 2k astrals and 1k nats, then sell the nats and pay for the planks the normal way. You'd have money left over. reaper88888
It was build from the ground up as a money drain to help counter alching. :| But at higher levels it starts to pay off with things like tab crafting, portal rooms, gilded altars and mounted glories. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

It's not hard to mine 3k ess and craft 2k astrals and 1k nats  . And it gives good mage exp, so that should also pay for spending time on the runecrafting. SirHartlar
I appreciate the skill, gives me something to spend my money on when I can't think of anything else. If you're rich and want a nice house, Construction is for you.
warrior5024
I LOVE construction, and I'm proud to have spent 60m on it. Designing your house is fun, as is building it. Yes, it is expensive, but that is the point of the skill. So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
obfuscator
it is indeed a money drain, it was intended that way. but it has very many benefits, and is just cool. so i think that it is worth it. Skull
The fact that it's a money sink with barely any benefits beyond total level is why my construction was 11 up untill a week ago. The only real plus for me is the fact that it's amazingly fast exp. I got 25 levels in a little less than an hour which was a nice total level boost. dolphinsfan913
It was made because there was to much money from alching so they had to find a way to drain it, but now with all the pures gone because of the wilderness update, not many people alch anymore, but lots of people still do construction. Daviduhlich
If you raise construction high enough to put in a gilded altar, you will save millions training prayer. Besides, it was blatantly intended to rob you of your money. Why change it?

Xx_Flare_xX
The skill (as most Tip.iters have explained) is like that on purpose to help get rid of alot of money. When your 50+ in the skill wasting money on the skill is definatly worth it  plus you can do it really cheaply if you tried :
harper128
I have a member friend who uses construction as his moneymaker. He makes planks and sells them on the GE. People don't want to have to bother with collecting them, so he makes money this way. I believe that he's made a couple of million this way so far. Imamonkey
I myself was not referring to using construction to make money, because of my house, I can make a couple million a day fairly easy. and still have time left over to something besides make money.
