King Black Dragon: Needs a Update?

I belive that the King black dragon (KBD) is in need of a update, and I'm going to present a few reasons why I belive this.

 

 

 

King Black Dragon (KBD) Vs Dagg Kings (DK)'s.

 

 

 

Drops

 

 

 

Ok, so in this department you must be thinking "the KBD drops a visage therefore its drop are better then anything that the dagg kings could drop," well your wrong. Yes the Kbd drops a visage, or is suppose to, but there insanely rare, I hear your have more luck slaying metal dragons for a week then slaying KBD's for a month in order to get a visage. The dagg king's max drop is only worth 2.5m, and the visage may be worth 24m but the rariety of the visage to the zerker ring or even the dragon axe at Dk's is stupid. What I'm trying to say is in the time it would take you to get a visage from the KBD you'd more the likely make double the cash if you spent your time at Dk's.

 

 

 

Levels:

 

 

 

KBD: 276

 

Dk's: 303

 

 

 

Ok so Dk's are higher in level so shouldn't they drop rarer items more often? No, read on to my next section to understand why.

 

 

 

Difficulty:

 

 

 

Now if were talking about on the basis of solo'ing these two 'boss' monsters then think about this. In one trip I can solo 25 rex's with magic (even more if I used better then the average equip), I could solo 20 primes with a low range level easily, Infact I could solo 20 supremes easily with low melee stats. The KBD I can only manage 5-6 solo kills a trip with my best equip and the same stats, doesn't this seem unfair considering the KBD is lower in level? Yes!!

 

 

 

 

 

I'm not saying that Dagg king's requires 'nerfing,' I'm just saying that the KBD is over the top for its level, and it's drop's don't represent the time and effort it takes to kill it.

Then don't kill it if you don't think it's worth it. I remember the days when you needed a team to kill the KBD and now you're whining because you can only kill it 5 or 6 times solo. That's [cabbage], man.

 

 

 

Lol we can say that about lots of things in runescape, I've played in RSC, I know what the KBD represented but now its trash more then everything, its not even seen as a boss now just a big monster.

 

 

 

-They changed pvp, 99% of people that use to PVP don't like it, so they should all stop and quit?

Also, another thing that you have to compare when fighting both...the inventory and required items to go fight these bosses.

 

 

 

DKs require a lot more money base to kill as you use brews, along with expensive armour, while killing the KBD, you use sharks, and basic items that are easily obtained.

 

 

 

Another point is that it is a lot easier to die at DKs, in comparison to KBD, therefore with bigger risk = bigger reward.

TIF has been going downhill for a long time. I could tell you the real reason but "someone" will delete this post and I'll be censored yet again. But if you think it's flaming that's taking TIF down, feel free to think that. You're quite misinformed.

I'll still think your find that with the same team you'd kill more Dk's then KBD's, but thats just my opinion.

 

 

 

And true on the armour, But Dk's armour can be as basic as torags, however I wont disagree with the invents as Dk's is more expensive. Risk shouldn't be taken into note anymore, as if were going to be fair if your with a team theres no risk due to blessing graves.

What Boss Updaters want is further seperate the level seperation between normal monsters and bosses. Wouldn't you agree, like most boss hunters, the need of more bosses? Then why not leave the KBG as a 'easier' boss and add some hard ones. Besides, to someone starting out Boss hunting he could try out the KBG for first-time experience if you think its so easy.

 

 

 

Deloria is absoultly right. If its too easy don't fight him. We need some boss varity in both levels and difficulty. The more varity the better, right?

Yes and No; the only way I can explain what I mean is taking the god sword as an example, now we could of said before it we needed some variety of swords, but now we have the god sword people complain about how over the top it is, Where do jagex go now from the god sword? Do they make even more of a variety just to please the customer? Until the day comes when you can 1 hit someone with 99 defence.

 

 

 

Same goes for bosses, the more the variety the harder they will get, and the more stupid the game will become, we already have a few bosses that can 1 hit you, or kill you in 2 hits, you create more varieties and it will just become over the top, just my 2 cents.

 

 

 

And my post wasn't suggesting that the KBD needs new UBER AWESOME POWER RANGER DROPS! - I was just saying that it needs updating or tweaking.

KBD should get a buff

 

 

 

Keep the way he attacks, but give him a weak range attack that hits 10s EVERY time

 

 

 

Let him drop like a 1/4th shard of d kite, whenever it comes out.

 

 

 

It is as rare as visage, and he only drops ONE of thr four shards

 

 

 

Maybe something else drops other 3

I think he is fine the way he is like someone mentioned earlier we need variety of bosses. I remember my first trip up to the KBD when I was in the high 80's. It was funner than hell, it was a 3 man team and all we took was prayer robes and a few pots and lobs or swordies. For the lack of knowledge and organization I was suprised how many times we took it down. Of course didn't really get any good drops (I think we made most of the money on the hides :lol: ) , but I think the KBD is there for people who can't KQ just yet and can't have fun killing the KBD. With all the other high lvl bosses I think the KBD is just fine.

Nope I disagree. If we change one monster that's not giving a sufficient reward, then why not all of them? People used to be able to make millions and millions at Abby Demons a day back in the old days. Now you make nowhere near as much money as people had before. The game changes - we just have to deal with it.

Lower the KBD's level to further accurately represent the difficulty level of each monster would be the best resolution

Things change. It's not that the King Black Dragon is what you call it to be, it used to be a big challenge back in the day. However, with the addition of new equipment of armour and weapons, the difficulty level of monsters of course needs to be adjusted. They keep the KBD there as sort of a flashback to how boss hunting used to be back in the day. When the KQ was released, it was hard. Now, it's a joke. I'm sure that's going to be the case for the GWD bosses when new things are added to the game ;)

Varity isn't making a harder monster. Varity is having like 3 monsters at the KQ difficulty, or having more of group bosses at the DQ level.

 

If we take these into numbers (regardless on its real difficultly) having Jad at 702 and then making a new monster at 850 isn't varity. Having the KQ at 302 (or something around there) then making a new, say Dark Beast Boss at lvl 290 and a Demon boss at 315 gives more varity than just making a harder boss.

 

 

 

Varity isn't always a harder, but just more of the ones we have. We as RuneScapers only have (in order of difficulty) KBD, DK, KQ, GWD, Jad as major bosses. What if we had say SK, TG, KBD, PRF, GG, DK, DBB, KQ, DB, GH, GWD, HY, Jad? MUCH more varity but none being more powerful than Jad.

Sure the KQ is easier-but it's not a joke. Try this: it is harder to solo the KQ than Bandos or Zamorak bosses. It hits harder and more frequently. The only thing wrong with it is it's drops.

If it really has that bad drops, tell me why it's almost impossible to find a free ls world at any time. KBD is not really that bad to kill, in my opinion. Not sure how many kills I can get in solo trip, but could as well try now and post result after. But it really drops nice amount of crimson charms and also has good regular drops (Rune longswords, 100 noted yew logs, etc.)

I have a much harder time at solo KQ than at solo Bandos, solo Zamorak, and solo Saradomin. If any monster needs an update, it's the KQ. For being that hard to kill, its drops are terrible.

Even with my nub stats and gear, on a Slayer task I can just mosey on in - easy access - and solo about 11 kills. KBD is, to be frank, piss easy. Solo DK needs an experienced DKer with good gear, a mate to let him in and then has to get to some island and rune through loadsa dags before even getting there. KBD = tele to bh -> wildy teleportals to lvl 44, -> KBD is bout 20 seconds walk away. You get in, there's only one monster fighting you and it's only some nub level anyways. You pray melee, use dragon-shield and anti-pot for dbreath and poison, then smash away at him for a while, eating when the ice breaths and such hit you. In DK, 3 lvl 303s using all sides of the combat triangle attack you as you enter, and Spinlopsys attack you from the sides with mage and range.

 

 

 

KBD even drops visage and rare KBD heads, and you always get a profit killing it, so personally I think that they're fairly well balenced and should stay as they are really.

the KQ has two forms, making it one of the hardest monsters to kill. graardor can be taken down at once in addition to the minions which have weak defence. i can't say the same for the kbd since it has a fewer HP then Kq and it can't atack multiple players at once. comparing to the drops, i should say this is a fair logic. sure you can get a visage from the kbd, but the kq has more variety and drops the drag chain a lot more frequently.

Personally I think the KBD needs a boost of about 100 levels and possibly made 3 times more dangerous than a steel dragon. Its supposed to be the KING of dragons, not just a random 3 headed one.
