August 9, 200817 yr So I suddenly discovered that I would like to start a discussion about accents(accents used when speaking English). What accents do you like? Are there any accents that appeal to you more than others? Do you like the sound of a certain accent? Spill it all here! Personally, I am quite fond of the standard POSH accent. It is usually associated with the bourgeoisie, but I still like the sound of it. Nice on the ear, and no matter what you say, you sound like you know a lot about it. Alongside this topic: How do you feel about my accent? fJEwWQJN1hs * Here I am speaking English with my natural English speaking accent. I am trying to lean as much as I can towards POSH, but I hear a lot of stuff about it, like: "Perfect British accent" - My English teacher(from Norway). "POSH"/"Like an old English person" - A bloke from Leeds, UK. "A bit heavy accent" - A bloke from somewhere in Florida, the US. "Wicked" - A bloke from somewhere in Australia. "Sounds like Stewie from Family Guy" - A bloke in my class(from Norway). "A weird mix of POSH, Strine and Middle-Norway accent" - Me. What do you think about this accent? I would like some constructive criticism. I do feel that this thread contributes, and I searched, but could not find any thread similar to this. Sorry if there is one already. * I am wearing a hat, not a towel. It might look like a towel, but it is a hat. Filesharer.org - Upload your mugshot to support The Pirate Bay!
August 9, 200817 yr I just like no accents. I'm from California. Theres not really an accent here. Southern accents are kinda hot on girls though. My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet. These are the times that try mens souls...
August 9, 200817 yr Personally, im quite fond of Stephen Fry's accent. I suppose his is somewhat posh, or atleast is stereotyped as, anyway. However, my accent is a weird cross between The Wurzels and Hugh Grant. Bloody England.
August 9, 200817 yr Author An accent is tone of voice. Everybody has an accent. Even people from California. So with "no accent", I suppose you mean "Northern-state American accent". Filesharer.org - Upload your mugshot to support The Pirate Bay!
August 9, 200817 yr I have a Pennsylvanian accent, so I talk like a hillbilly. Indian accents are the funniest though. :)
August 9, 200817 yr This brings up a question I've been wondering about, do Canadians have a different accent than the majority of Americans? Excluding words, and just accents. Norwegian accents are pretty cool. =)

August 9, 200817 yr A Russian accent sounds the most...not cultured, but..what's the word? Just plain awesome I guess, but there's something I'm trying to think of... Command the Murderous Chalices! Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow- Death to Moby Dick!BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
August 9, 200817 yr Aussie Accents ftw... Being Aussie myself \ My accent is a faint Aussie Accent with a (west) Londoner Accent... Also involves countless swear words... Luck be a Lady
August 9, 200817 yr I would love to have British, Scottish, or Australian one (though that leans more towards the British). I'm Californian so I'm one of the boring ones. :(
August 9, 200817 yr I can't stand posh English accents... except when Hugh Dennis does it <3: I love the Welsh and French accents too, french music is nice. This guy has the coolest accent ever!
August 9, 200817 yr I have the heavy mid-western accent. I say "Ohh yahh?" a lot and once in awhile the "Eh?" I don't really care about the accent as long as the girl is good looking, although I do not really like a French accent. Please, get the bread dough out of your mouth and PRONUNCIATE the words. Thank you. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."
August 9, 200817 yr This guy has the coolest accent ever! CAT EMPIRE!!! "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."
August 9, 200817 yr Author Norwegian accent, eh? Since not everyone knows how standard Norwegian accent sounds like, I have made a little recording. In this recording, I am speaking English with a Eastern Norway accent, which is the most common Norwegian accent. It does not come natural to me, so it might differ a little from the real accent, but should hopefully give a good image. This video is also good: Q66HNKQ-tIw&hl=en&fs=1 Filesharer.org - Upload your mugshot to support The Pirate Bay!
August 9, 200817 yr I recently watched The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (pretty meh movie) and I love Skinner's (the invisible man) accent. It's British but with a specific touch. Similar to Claude's from Heroes.
August 9, 200817 yr Has to be Chinese. One of the funniest accents out there :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
August 9, 200817 yr Has to be Chinese. One of the funniest accents out there Haha, can't argue with that. I always have a smile on my face when I order Chinese. :)
August 9, 200817 yr I think the Danish accent is my favorite, You can't understand a thing so you just smile and nod.
August 9, 200817 yr I love my hispanic accent, sounds like I wasn't born in the USA sometimes. It's kinda of hard when giving a presentation or talking about my essay to the class though. When I go fast, I sometimes lose people. I guess, I keep reinforcing it by listening to Spanish Music and watching Spanish Television. But accents which are funny are Jamaicans and Indians. August 9, 200817 yr Not sure what you'd classify it as, but I find John Rhys-Davies's (Gimli) accent pleasant to listen to. 7 years 'scape knowledge and counting99 Attack - June 8th 2010 99 Defence - August 2nd 2011 99 HP - December 2nd 2011
August 9, 200817 yr British and Welsh are just awesome :P I also like Russian and French in that with Russian, you could be saying the nicest thing in the world and it still comes out sounding brusque :D, and the opposite with French: you could be cursing your brains out and it'd sound like you're trying to seduce someone  Last.fm Signature Overlays
August 9, 200817 yr You all fail! The best accent is the Middle-Eastern accent, (even though my friend canineteeth has latino ancestry, his accent reminds of a terrorist) But, seriously, I would kill Lenin64 for a Stewie Griffin accent.
