Nintendo, A Console For Children.

There are games out there which are aimed at Adults, such as Resident Evil 4 and No More Heroes. But, I tell you this, watch a trailer of MadWorld and you will soon see that game is extremely gory. :o

The fact that the game is in entirely black and white excluding the blood really takes away the shock. Now both manhunt games and especially the removed stuff from Manhunt 2, now that was gory.

And isn't Manhunt 2 on the wii already.

If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person.

well let us concur

playstation-2007-2006 sucked balls for you, it's only 2008 that your scratching your way to the top so playstation fanboys gtfo!

xbox 360-for all your quality titles ive never seen you on top of the games industry :| a spot which both sony and nintendo have held so gtfo too

seriously the company on top is the best company, the company making the most cash is the best company, if your games and titles are that great then why aren't they selling more than mario kart wii, super smash bros brawl etc.Insulting the wii just because the wii has won this console war now gtfo! so wii can play.

xbox fanboys your the worse, at least have something to brag about before you put other consoles down, halo is nothing new first person shooters were here when you were probaly still in diapers.

ps3 fanboys i can excuse unless they take it too far, no one will forget the glory days of the ps2 no one! and i think most of the fanboyism stems from the ps2 than from the ps3 itself

nintendo fanboys- i applaud you every single person who even wants to call themselves gamer better give nintendo a round of applause, ever heard of the videogame crash of 1983?, if it wasn't for nintendo you douchebags would not be able to play your precious xbox or playstation.

nintendo saved the video game industry with their new heroes donkey kong and mario (first known as jumpman)

so before you call the wii a kid's console, nintendo can do whatever they please! no matter what anyone says, they made the videogame industry what it is too, single handedly fixing the crash, introducing 3d graphics, they did it all and playstation and xbox are starting to release kiddy games too, samba de amigo anyone? kung fu panda for desert maybe?, those games don't look hardcore, nintendo found the niche market in the casual market and playstation and xbox would be smart to get their heads out of their (censored) and release more casual games if they even want to touch the wii

Funny, I remember Nixon saying something similar. What was it,"It's not illegal if you're the president", or something along those lines?

Big deal if Nintendo 'fixed' the video game crash. That has nothing to do with the console they put out now. I'm not saying I think it's inferior - I quite enjoy WiiSports at a friend's house - but I think there are a few things it needs to work on, like any console. It also seems to me that you are too much of a Nintendo fanboy to judge other fanboys.

What is the top of the games industry, anyways? You have to remember that the Xbox 360 is only Microsoft's second console, it's not like they're going to get it perfect the first couple of tries. Even with that said, the 360, in my opinion, is quite the console for the second generation from Microsoft. Nintendo has pretty average online support from what I've heard, PS3 has okay online, and what I consider to be fairly mediocre exclusive games for the most part, whereas the 360 has probably the best online out of the 3 consoles and games that appeal to my interests, however the hardware malfunctions (Which I have never experienced, despite having a console that is vulnerable to RROD) are probably the biggest downfall of the console. Basically, the 360 fits my life better than any of the other consoles, although I would like to get a Wii for the Mario, Zelda and Metroid games.

Also, another bad point I have against the 360 is that it tries to copy Sony and Nintendo at times, several times. Either way, Microsoft has built the superior console for me, with the Wii next in line, followed by the Nintendo 64. I've just never really liked Playstation in any way for gaming.

I think you're pulling things out of your [wagon] here, he said the 360 was Microsoft's 2nd console, not Nintendo's. So you just exploded over nothing. Way to be a champ. Plus hardware was simpler then, I'm sure it was easier to make a working console. The RROD is pathetic, I agree, but MS does deserve some leeway here for being new to such an advanced age.

Yes, Nintendo is the pinnacle of gaming. With it's lesser hardware and poor game lineup. Sales figures are good, but it doesn't automatically mean that the games are awesome. I think this year's E3 proved this rather well- Nintendo had what, Wii Music? What is that? And Animal Crossing, yes, but that's really it. And before you say the Wii never goes faulty, lemme tell you a little story.

During the summer, my dad decided he wanted a Wii, for reasons I still don't know, since he never uses it. We call up the local Gamestop to see if they have any...and they do! Three left, shipment arrived that day. So we go in and manage to get it, buy SSBB and some kind of Bowling game. We go home and set it up, make the Miis and whatnot. The next day, though, something strange happens. The console refuses to run correctly, always getting an error message. So we take it back and the guy explains to us that it's pretty much RROD'd. Granted, this is rare, and I just got lucky, but the Wii is still prone to malfunction and hardware failure.

And let's not forget the game lineup, full of Mario, Zelda, and 3rd party shovelware.

Before you go spouting things out of your [wagon] think first,

I recommend the same

Owned lol 8-)

I agree with all that you just said Lenin.

Nintendo is moving towards the market that has been unclaimed up till now. And they are reaping the rewards. There are so many casual gamers and child gamers that hardcore gamers get left behind while Nintendo tries to milk the cash off of the former two. That's why the wii is more of a kids console this generation. It's being marketed towards kids and casual gamers.

Exploding at me for asking you what you consider to be the top of the video game industry is definitely the way to destroy me. Actually, it mortified me more than destroyed me. I'll be picking bits of you out of my hair for the next few weeks.

Now, to make like Lenin and pick apart your argument.

God forbid you actually give some basis for your argument (Oh what a hypocrite I am)

The reference to Nixon was just for impact. Also, it actually made sense and doesn't need to be explained. It looks like you might need an explanation though. Nixon did illegal stuff, then went around and claimed that he is innocent because he's the president of the United States, the top of the Government.

You claim Nintendo can do whatever they want, because they are the top of the video games market. Sure they can, but they can't without receiving criticism for it, which is what I think you mean.

The Wii is a good idea, but they made poor use of the controls. WiiSports is probably the best example I can think of that makes good use of the controls. However, the motion sensing equipment isn't exactly what it should be for a video game of this generation (Or even last generation, which is what the Wii is due to graphics, my basis of the generations). Several times playing at a friend's house, trying to play golf, the game won't react, react the opposite of what I'm doing, or react to such an extreme, when I'm trying to lightly put a ball into the cup the ball goes flying off the green. A new add-on for the controller was announced at E3, which gives from what I see very good control with the Wiimote. I was expecting this kind of accuracy from the beginning, though.

I'll get to the actual consoles later, now on to games.

Nintendo systems are known for having a slew of sub-standard, 3rd-party games being released on their consoles. This was the reason for the video game crash, and I know that it wasn't just Nintendo games. However, you wouldn't actually need anything spectacular to get the market out of that rut. There is next to no competition because of the crash, so Nintendo had the opportunity to make it really big. See, now Microsoft comes along and releases it's first console. This console goes up against the two powerhouses (At the time) of the console gaming industry - Nintendo and Sony. Microsoft has absolutely no advantage - aside from it's experience with computer systems - and certainly is not on a level playing field. Two companies with years of console gaming experience, versus a newbie to market. Yet, the Xbox does pretty well. Not only that, but Xbox Live is released, a first for the consoles. Then comes the second generation. Xbox 360 is quick out the gate with a year-earlier release than the Wii and PS3. Now, the Wii has grabbed the top spot of World-wide and U.S. sales, with eh 360 in second, and Playstation in third. I think we can ignore the PS3 from now on.

Yes, Wii has sold more consoles, and I wouldn't be surprised if it sold more games. However, Wii isn't aimed at a specific audience, it's aimed at everyone. That means that the quality of the games, for those in the prime "gaming-age", which I consider to be 15-30, is going to go down. From what I've seen, most of us want fairly fast-paced games, good online support, and good graphics. I don't mean to speak for the world here, but from what I've also seen, heard and read, the Xbox 360 rules in those regions. You can't talk to the other person for Wii online, so it's just like you're playing an advanced AI. The games are often going to be calm games, or remakes of Nintendo's big 3, Mario, Zelda and Metroid. While the games are good, they've been milked so thoroughly that I can probably find better on past systems. As far as graphics go, the Wii does no have the capacity to handle the graphics of games such as Final Fantasy, Halo, Gears of War and Call of Duty. The Xbox 360 does.

Now, to hardware and firmware/software.

I personally say that the 360 dominates the Wii in this again. A standard 360 now has a 60GB hard drive, previously 20GB. A Wii has 512MB of flash memory. 360 wins 39-fold, and 117-fold.

A Wii has a single 729 MHz processor. A 360 has THREE 3.2GHz processors. The 360 has 13 times the processing power of the Wii.

The Xbox 360 can play games, movies, music, download videos, games, movies and music, download demos, download trailers, play music off of USB-connected devices, and buy original Xbox games.

The Wii can play games and buy backwards-compatible games through the Wii Shop Channel.

The Xbox 360 has backwards compatibility with over 500 original Xbox games.

The Wii is backwards-compatible with all Official Nintendo Gamecube Titles.

Xbox 360 is $349.99 at FutureShop.ca

Nintendo Wii is $269.99 as FutureShop.ca

As far as I'm concerned, the 360 wins. It offers much superior technology and service, for an albeit greater, but better price taking into account the capabilities of each system.

The RRoD is, according to Microsoft, fixed on all new consoles. That 3-year warranty has covered RRoD issues up until now. I know I'm downplaying the effect of the RRoD, but I have never had it, so I don't know how bad it is.

Now, I would like a reasoning behind those Bush-360 jokes, along with some proofreading on your part. Oh, and a mop to clean up that mess you made earlier.

why does bush play the xbox 360? because a dead-beat president needs to play a dead-beat console.

and another joke

why is bush's favorite console the xbox 360? because they both fail!

I fail to see any connection between Bush and the 360. the 360 is quite popular world-wide, Bush is definitely not. The 360 managed to pull a profit, Bush created the greatest financial deficit in the United States of America's history. And learn some good jokes. You're just spouting 4chan humour there.

All facts I gathered regarding system specs and sales figures have been through Wikipedia.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

All facts I gathered regarding system specs and sales figures have been through Wikipedia.

why must you be ignorant, go back to wikipedia and find out about the real crash. ATARI, ATARI, ATARI, ATARI caused it,

if the 360 has all the specs and hardware why is it currently jostling with sony for 2nd place, 20 million console sales behind!

i don't think viva pinata for the 360 appeals to the hardcore now does it?

all your hardware specs doesn't mean crap if you can't sell your consoles and idiots i was comparing the xbox 360 to the super nes in terms of impact and sales (for their respective releases) and it's clear which achieved more, why do you think that mario games sell more than halo games *facepalm* it's definitely not because of the graphics, if you haven't figured it out by now may god help you!

nintendo has proven that graphics do not =quality games and while your at it search the conduit which is a gorgeous wii game that is far from being finished so the wii can definitely handle high graphics

Guys, we may need some fire extinguishers here.

why must you be ignorant, go back to wikipedia and find out about the real crash. ATARI, ATARI, ATARI, ATARI caused it,

I'm sorry if not all of us waste our time reading random things about video game history. Sorry.

if the 360 has all the specs and hardware why is it currently jostling with sony for 2nd place, 20 million console sales behind!

What? Look at the sales numbers. The 360 is some 6 million copies ahead of the PS3, the Wii is 6 million copies ahead of the 360. If the Wii has all the great games and stuff, then why is it currently jostling with the 360 for first place, if you call 6 million copies close?

i don't think viva pinata for the 360 appeals to the hardcore now does it?

Who said every game for the 360 is hardcore? It's just like how you guys always pull the "NOT EVERY NINTENDO GAME IS CASUAL AND KIDDY LOLOLOLOLOLOLYUZLUOLULW" card.

all your hardware specs doesn't mean crap if you can't sell your consoles and idiots i was comparing the xbox 360 to the super nes in terms of impact and sales (for their respective releases) and it's clear which achieved more, why do you think that mario games sell more than halo games *facepalm* it's definitely not because of the graphics, if you haven't figured it out by now may god help you!

So...Why are we comparing the 360 and SNES again? If we're comparing the companies, let's look at Microsoft and Nintendo. Which has accomplished more for gaming? Microsoft by a few miles, PC anyone?

nintendo has proven that graphics do not =quality games and while your at it search the conduit which is a gorgeous wii game that is far from being finished so the wii can definitely handle high graphics

Oh...Kay? Like Nadril said so well a while ago, though graphics alone do NOT make a great game, they actually play a factor, believe it or not. Will you spend $50 to buy a game that looks like crap (And you don't know if it's good or bad), or would you rather get a game that looks great, and likewise, may or may not be good. That's simply the way humans work, we care about looks and appearance. If you don't, guess you aren't human.

I want to see you pull this on me. Come on. :P

In lieu of a flamewar, I think I've fed you enough. I'll just go with 4chan's rules of the internet - I'm sure you are quite familiar with them - and quite before I "epically fail".

Just a last comment though. I may be a 360 fanboy, I may not. I just don't like it when you go around thinking Nintendo is a God that can do what they want because of their past. That is the reason for the Nixon quote. Nintendo has always been the best video game console/handheld company, but I think they belong more in the handheld market now. Also, they need to develop some original games. Mario, Zelda and Metroid are fun and all, but they can get old. Pokemon too.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

why must you be ignorant, go back to wikipedia and find out about the real crash. ATARI, ATARI, ATARI, ATARI caused it,

One of the main reasons for the crash was because third parties started forming after the court ruling. These third parties included companies that didn't have anything to do with video games, like pet food companies, Quaker Oats, etc. Other game companies also formed as well. Because of all the new games, which the majority of were garbage, consumers didn't know what was good or bad. In the end, people didn't know whether they were buying good or bad games, so they stopped spending money on video games.

My guess is that people are looking at future releases, and like the PS3 lineup more... Or maybe because of games that came out now, like MGS4... Must be the games though, I don't think hardware matters at all in this issue.

i don't think viva pinata for the 360 appeals to the hardcore now does it?

Microsoft is trying to appeal to a wider audience. Expanding your market is good for business.

I don't see why you're comparing sales of the past to current sales, back when Microsoft wasn't even involved with consoles. It just doesn't make any sense since Nintendo didn't have to compete with Microsoft.

Using sales of games for this generation, and last generation, no Mario game has sold more than a Halo game. Unless you're adding them ALL together...

According to vgchartz;

Halo has sold 6.43M, Halo 2 has sold 8.46M, and Halo 3 has sold 8.46M.

Mario Sunshine has sold 6.28M, and Double Dash has sold 6.96M.

Mario Kart Wii has sold 7.35M and Mario Galaxy has sold 6.86M.

Mario Party 8 and Mario Olympics have bout sold over 5 million.

Mario is a good brand for Nintendo, the main games sell very well, and it's not like Microsoft will stop with Halo, since it's a million seller too.

nintendo has proven that graphics do not =quality games and while your at it search the conduit which is a gorgeous wii game that is far from being finished so the wii can definitely handle high graphics

Well.. Yeah, graphics don't make games, but they do add to the experience. I think a lot of Wii games look great.

Actually I would have to say it's because Mario games are geared towards people of all ages whereas Halo is marketed basically for teenage boys. As you can guess, there are more people who would buy Mario for their kids (and themselves) than there are teenage boys looking to talk trash on XBL.

Fanboys, why can't we just kill them all?

Attention fanboys of consoles, platforms, whatever, why don't you all just shut the [bleep] up. All you are do is argue pointlessly, over the stupidest [cabbage] on the face of the planet. Does anything that your argumentative little minds actually make sense? You're the reason the internet should not exist. To quote Patches O'Hollihan, " It's like watching a bunch of [developmentally delayed]s trying to hump a doorknob." You guys make the kkk and black panthers look tame.

Flaming, trolling, or whatever the [bleep] you wanna call what I just posted, I don't care. Just remember fanboyism is just one step from being Jack Thompson.

I'm 13 and I enjoy Mario games. Why? Because they're simple, fun, and sometimes so (beep) hard!

I don't get it, are you trying to prove something here?

I think its a failed point to say that its not only for kids.

Everyone plays Mario anyway, well most people.
