Juhnie
Today Jagex added a new RC MiniGame, the Great Orb Project. I went to try this game out, because it sounded good, but I immediatly found at least one big stupid thing in it - nearly every single person is flooding to the Yellow team, leaving only few players on the Green team! Then, the game starts. I'm on the Green team. We go in and... What?? There are three people on Green team and five on Yellow one? Well, I first think that "Hey, we still have a chance, this isn't so bad.." My god, how wrong I was. Even the two player difference was too great - opponents were dragging all their orbs there with a horribly fast speed and still they had loads of time to create barriers in front of our orbs. We tried our best but we just simply were unable to block their orbs and drag our own orbs at the same time. Of course, now some people are thinking "it's a matter of skill!!" Well, let's say that it only is a matter of skill. We keep losing every single round of the game... Then, I try to start repelling the opponent orbs to stop them from scoring. But, when I try to repel an orb my opponent is dragging, I just turn and watch the orb! This starts to get idiotic, you can't use your Repel wand to repel your opponents orbs when they are attracting/repelling them! What's next, we are disabled to attract our orbs? Well, luckily this hasn't happened yet... Also, when I was trying to repel an orb that no-one was attracting, I found out that I can only repel them ~3 blocks a time and I can only repel them once in ~3-5 seconds! Then, an enemy just came and started attracting the orb, leaving me unable to repel them at all and leaving all my attempts of repelling worthless! Then we get to the people.. When I try to use barriers to block at least some of their orbs: "barrier noob!!11" When I'm on Green team: "green noob!11" When we lose a round: "hahahahahah we won you!!!!!!!" When we "lose the game" (having less victories): "omfg yes!!!! we won!!!!!!111 hahhahhahahahahaha" When we win a round (extremely rare, still, this has happened a few times..): "omfg, this is sad bs" Seriously, Jagex needs to do something to repair these things... 1) You should be able to repel your opponents orbs though they are attracting them, or even slow them down! At the moment you can't move them a square away if they are being attracted! 2) The teams should be more even, this is a horrible problem that basically disables the team with lower amount of players from winning even a single round! (except on rare occasions) DON'T POST MESSAGES OF THIS KIND!!: -"Just join the Yellow Team!" -"Don't play the minigame if you don't like it!" -"Omfg why do you people have to rant about everything Jagex does!?" (I have only ranted about BH and this minigame, otherwise I have always supported Jagex's updates...) -"Just ignore the people who flame/annoy you" -"Stupid rant" -"wtf u r so stuped dat geim is teh b3st of teh m1n1geims zast join teh y3ll0w t34m n u win pl0xx!!" Wow, that really helped. So, once more, if you don't have anything constructive, or feel like flaming me, leave this post NOW. I don't want to see your witty messages, they just build another wave of anger and annoyance inside me leaving making this rant completely useless! If you agree with me or have something constructive to say, feel free to add your opinions. Felter_Laur
Well, since you took away all of the standard replies that would be applicable to your rant, I figure I will try to encourage you. You can look at this a few ways. You could see it as a new challenge. You can remain on the green side (for principle sake) and not get any tokens. You can keep playing a game that absolutely frustrates you (meanwhile not getting any xp or improving your character). You could pay special attention to all of those that are flaming you. I think that about covers what apparently you wanted to hear. Now that I am done being obnoxious. I say this maybe you should give Jagex a few days to fix the obvious problems with this game. They will make it more balanced; I am sure of it.
Omali
I played on the green team, we lost horribly every game. So I moved over to the yellow team and got an entire set of runecrafting robes after only a few games. The team balancing definitely needs to be fixed. Bad911
I have never been laughed at or insulted in any of the games i played. I went to go test it just like 10 min ago, and i see what you mean about the team balance thing. I got CRUSHED so bad. I hope its not too bad of a problem. Every other team-based mini-game has forced equal numbers on teams. Yes, for sure. I haven't played it cause I'm a little short of requirements..... but anyway, the orb attract/repel stuff you are talking about is explainable, first day, bound to be balance issues. Now wether Jagex fixed them or not is yet to be seen but regardless, teams should be balanced. And clan wars is different. You don't compete for anything and you pick who you play. I don't think it's fair to have one team winning every game and gaining the rewards, while the other team loses all the time and gets nothing. Baezal
I think another problem is that people will quit if their team doesn't win after the first round, even by 1 point!
Ravenkana
I dislike the fact that one token equals one pure ess. I'm all for lowering pure ess prices, but is this really the way to go? If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Foodfight13
I know how you feel. It's not just the evening of the teams, but also how the wands work, the size of the orbs, how they react to your wands, and where the orbs respawn. I was very frustrated at my first experience with this game yesterday. There were quite a few rants going on the RSOF, and I hope Jagex saw some of them, because they have a minigame to fix. -Runescape Addict --- Seven-time Writer for the Tip.It Times-"Yes I have tricks in my pocket, I have things up my sleeve. harper128
I've played several games today, it appears that they are trying to make the teams even. However, players can skew this. the teams are even at 3vs3, player A joins the Yellow team. Player B must then join the Green team. Player C is able to join either team and chooses to go with the Yellow team. Player B then decides to quit. You then end up with 5 vs 3. I had something similar happen to me, as it was to be a 2 vs 3 game, but the other player on my team decided that it would be too hard that way and quit. I played it through and almost beat the other team on a couple of the altars (one of the altars they got the win in right at the end, another one I was actually ahead until they saw I was ahead). So, on the last one, they decided that they needed to block. 3 blocks up to keep me from being able to bring in yellow stars. *sigh* 3 on 1 and they still have to block. In any case, if your team is losing, stick it out, you may learn some new tactics, and it's a chance to learn how to use your wands better. Personally, I've been having trouble with it in full screen, the "dead zone" around the mini-map is quite large and I keep clicking on the altar trying to run around it, so it keeps asking me if I want to craft runes. *blah* Unfortunately, this is also a way for players to "fix" a game in their favor. Have a couple of their friends join the other team and then quit out. Then do the same for them. Cheap and cheezy and I'll bet there are quite a few people who end up doing it. Alg
I played 3 games yesterday, once yellow, twice green. All were wins, including green. Really, what you get are people on yellow who hear that it's easy wins. This makes possibly more experienced players on Green. Then, you can sweep them. Another thing to remember is that the first week or so of an update is the beta, or you could read it as that. Hopefully it'll be balanced then. And less crowded with people trying to get the newest gear first. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
upthebanner
I played 3 games as green. I was logged out during first game, won the second, and lost the third. Personally I will not be playing again in a hurry. I suspect that the next plan for most players will be to organise their own teams of experienced players with high rc levels so that when they compete they can nearly guarantee a win. (Anyone need a level 89 rcer?)
Resonae
I also only play in green, two things I'd like to say: 1. I was paired with 1 green against 5 yellows in my first game and we won. So... yeah it is about skill. 2. I was paired with a green against 1 yellow... so not everyone flocks to yellow. Go to an empty world and find a game with a lot of greens. MR. Fairness
Neither of which addresses the point of uneven teams. That way, starting out, numbers are equal. BTW - a good player, on their own can get between 3 and 10 orbs in. That is to say at the air altar, 7ish, fire, 10, and body/earth, 3. Well, I have at least. The trick is that you have to push the orb diagonally, and then it will travel and slide past obstacles. What upsets me is when i'm doing fine manipulating an orb by myself, and someone from my team feels like they have to help. And then they just pull it to themselves and never let go. Experience is definitely > numbers. I also found that if you push the orb when no one else is around, even if its theirs, you can do tons of stuff with it. my 2 bits. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪
