Well I just got back to bowerstone, and while there are a few little things that bug me, it's a really great game so far. I like how the swords look whenever you level them up.

[spoiler=Another spoiler]Reaver is a total [puncture]. Again. Only a rich, pompous [puncture] this time. With an awesome hat.

[spoiler=Annoying/Awesome things to me so far.]The new shops. Why did they get rid of the menus for them and replace them with 1 item stalls?

Digging takes a bit longer than I'd like.

SAVE SYSTEM. WHY DID THEY CHANGE THIS.

Interacting with people seems awkward now.

ESCORT MISSIONS. I DON'T WANT TO LITERALLY HAVE TO HOLD YOUR HAND AND LEAD YOU SOMEWHERE AND PROTECT YOU.

Cool things

Executions are [bleep]ing awesome. (handstand, followed by a reverse flip onto an enemy's shoulders and snapping his neck with your knees? Yes please. Grab a wolf mid leap by the neck and stab it? Check. Kick a hobbe onto it's back and stab it through the mouth? HHHHNNNGGGGGGG.)

(physically) changing weapons

Chicken humor

That's all for now

Tell me, oh you kids with lots of money to buy games on release, is magic any more enjoyable to use over Fable 2? The mechanics of Will attacks in 2 destroyed it for me, they were so clumsy.

Same aim and charge mechanic, but different spells and you can't switch them mid-battle. Leveling magic improves the power of all spells. And apparently you can combine spells.

Just wondering; In Fable 2 in the end you had a to choose between something good (saving those people) something semi-good (saving your loved ones) and doing something evil. Well the last option really bugged me. You were awarded with 1 million gold coins for choosing the evil option. Why would anyone choose that? You can make a million easily afterwards. Fable 1 did this a bit better with the sword and your sister. Just wondering if Fable 3 has better option for doing evil stuff. Anyone who played it already know that?

Fable 3's end choice is much more morally gray.

[spoiler=Spoilers, duh]

The "Good" path is keeping all of your promises, at a great financial cost. This is important because you need 6.5 million gold in Albion's treasury or people will die. Doing every good option in the endgame will leave you about 2 million in debt, meaning that most of Albion will be killed. You can, f course, fill the treasury with your own money.

The evil option fills the treasury but makes you pretty much Logan 2.0. It's a necessary evil, though.

The douchebag option is to do the evil stuff and keep the money for yourself. Hope it was worth it, ass. Of course, the dead will include the shopkeepers, so you can't even spend the money after.

[spoiler=Maybe quite possibly might just potentially contain some small trace of game-spoiling spoilers.]Did anyone else think the Battle for Bowerstone (the first one) was kind of lame? I expected armies to clash, but instead, maybe... I didn't count, but I guess ~10-20 people fight alongside you and your two companions? Kind of lame, but still pretty epic.

Honestly I was expecting to fight Reaver. Darn... would've been pretty cool, hero vs. hero.

Do the spells in this game seem pretty much useless to anyone else? Even at level 4 they don't ever seem to do much damage, and against Balverines, they take too long to charge up. I've gotten KO'ed by them twice because of it.

So what did everyone chose to do/not do as their promises? So far, (I'm at the point where I return to the hideout in the sewers, waiting for fill up the treasury before I go on, since the days don't seem to be going down at all,) I've kept all promises except one, which was the Aurora one. Sorry guys, but YOU WILL EARN YOUR KEEP. Also donated the 700k gem to the treasury, since I'm so nice >.> I really don't like that new butler.

A level 4 charged fire/lightning area attack kills the [cabbage] out of most things. And those that don't die are stunned long enough to rush with melee. Ice/Lightning can be used for defense, since everything will be stunned by the lightning and take steady damage from the ice, even if they weren't hit by the initial blast. The fire/lightning one leaves human enemies weak enough to be killed by an uncharged targeted spell. Have yet to try force push or cyclone though. Blades is... Situational at best. Spam it, it can be okay, but against multiple enemies you have a death wish. Which is most of the time.

For balverines, I have wolfsbane, which killed a white balverine in a couple of hits. Sucks to be anyone who didn't get the deluxe one...

As for promises...

[spoiler=Spoilers again]I kept all of the promises. As a result, Albion's population is maybe 100 at most. I am the best ruler EVER!

[spoiler=hide tags usually mean spoilers right?]You do know you could take your time and collect 6.5 million for the army right? The days don't count down or anything if you don't do the quests.

I figured that was the case, but I wanted to see the end. Worth it.

[hide]So I beat it, but obviously 1.5M in debt. If I increase the treasury will people start coming back or am I screwed?[/hide]

[hide]

I believe so. A friend of mine started adding in heavy tax and pouring in money, and they began coming back.

I'm really enjoying Fable 3 so far. I've just got my first alliance. Loved the chicken en the drama/comedian play mini-quests. Really made me laugh.

Also loving the choices which are less obvious this time around.

It's extremely refreshing to have more than an empty shell as your main character.

I take that back. The same depth we see in the first 20 minutes is completely lost throughout the rest of the game. That, plus the ridiculously large amounts of slow-down, functionality glitches, and overall short gameplay is really...boring. All the side-quests are terrible re-hashes of Fable 2 side quests. And it's like Lionhead went, "How can we add endless hours of gameplay without investing any real plot-bolstering content? OH I KNOW, COLLECTION QUESTS!" Which, mind you, take ample advantage of the online features new to Fable 3. And well, good for them, that was an improvement...but it's not real content.

This game has become more of a disappointment than an enjoyment. It's like they tweaked a few things from Fable 2 and made it more like The Sims and sent it off to be packaged. This story, without a doubt, had the greatest potential for a truly mind-blowing experience. What we've actually got, though, is nothing to call home about.

Meh. I only paid 35$ for it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just rented it. John Cleese's presence is definitely felt!

Also, just beat Darkness Incarnate. God damn

...really?

After the first 20 minutes of the game it's just:

He did a better job in Jade Empire, through no fault of his own. For the catastrophe of letting his character go undeveloped I blame Lionhead.
