Ads that actually work

you know those tv lawyer ads that claim they will get you your money because you need it now!, that sick old man in the newspaper claiming to want a little boy to walk his dog, the popup on the internet that says click it for a free green card.

with all your experiences about ads which of their products did what they were supposed to do?

and which didn't?

Only food ads and the occasional movie/videogame ad literally work for me. Of course, subconsciously, they all work to some degree. If you're thinking what kinda shampoo you want, odds are you'll get one of the brands advertised a lot. It isn't that they're effective, it's that they pound their names into your heads. That's why they're called a brand; they end up branded on your brain.

Some more literally than others.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

A study showed that anti-drug/alcohol/tobacco ads actually work against themselves. Maybe I'll try to dig that up.. :-k

A guy I know tried pot for the first time years ago when he was in middle school because he was curious after seeing one of those anti-drug ads on television. Gf drug prevention.

They never work, my age group is quite at target now from Irish organizations to discourage underage drinking / smoking Via TV ads. The only thing I think when I see these ads is "hmmm, a couple beers with the lads would be good right now" or "I feel like a smoke". Seeing the anti-smoking ads doesn't discourage me, just makes me want a smoke

I agree very much so. Not so much the anti-alcohol ads though. I have to really feel like partying before I get to drinking. But when any of those stupid anti-marijuana/tobacco ads come on I just want to go smoke a cigarette or a bowl. I get tired of seeing money being spent on something that is causing, what society veiws as, negative actions. The "War on Drugs" is an utter failure and commercials are actually making kids want to get into those types of things. Wtf?

Sorry to OP, not meaning to drag this off topic.

T.V ads work, like freecreditreport, even though it is a scam, people still go there. When you think I need a credit report you probably think freecreditreport.

^Ah yes I remember that one from the 90s. I was rather little at the time and didn't quite understand why the lady was smashing things with her frying pan. It scared me. :uhh:

I think celebrity ads get people the most. "Omg the Jonas Brothers advertise Target. Mom, when's the next time we're going to Target?!?!?!"

I get that every time my brother and sister see that commercial on the Disney Channel. And the fact that they believe that hello-goodbye song was a Jonas brothers song when it was actually an oldies song brought back for Target. When it plays on my dad's oldies station, my little sister goes "Hey! They copied the Jonas Brothers Song!" :wall:

[hide=]

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Kill them. If they don't know a Beatles classic when they hear it, kill them. I explain your situation to my mom ALL THE TIME, but she ignores me. My sister sees something on T.V. that is advertised by Hannah Montana (or Miley Cyrus or whatever that personality disorder girl's name is) she instantly wants it and thinks it is cool. :wall: So much money wasted on toys and other items that are not utilizing logical enjoyment value #-o

You gotta hand it to Disney though, they know how to make money.

Yeah, by putting d*cks on their movie covers and sex in their films, subliminaly.

There's been only one time that one of those things actually happened. The rest is because human beings tend to see things as object or faces when they aren't really there.

All adverts are incredibly effective, I heard that after you have seen an advert a few times it kinda gets into the back of your brain, and steers people towards certain brands of product lines. I know one woman who will never shop in places like Lidl because they don't stock all the expensive brands, when I have found Lidl's products to be fantastic and for a 10th of the price of the big brands. Go figure.

It's even worse if you have kids as what they see on TV is what they want. The supermarket cheapo white boxed items will simply not do, even though in my opinion they are "usually" just as the same!

I stopped watching regular TV a while back.. well.. less than I used to.

used to watch tv for... 15hours and up per week.....

now... it's.... half an hour a week...

so cant say much about TV ads...

however.. ads in my gmail. never notice them.

ads in forums... never notice them unless they have a nice graphic... like a pic that's not moving.. and... trees in it. like my siggy.

ads in.... yea... that's it. cause the ads in most forums are the same... ads in rs are the same, ads in onemanga.com are the same... etc.

I'm actually tempted into buying those Shamwow towels. Might work for all I know.
