Stop argueing, we will all be right/wrong in a few days.

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

If they lose, that doesn't make me wrong. It just means they lost.

Heck, we could have a load of faithless electors this year, who knows.

We won't officially know for a while. :P

Is anyone here going to not vote just for the sake of not wanting to vote for McCain/Obama?

No, because they both suck. We're not arguing over who's the best, we're arguing over who sucks the least.

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

I know a few people who are apparently "making statements" by not voting for either, but voting for a third party candidate.

From a realistic view, it's even better to abstain totally from voting, than to vote for a 3rd party which has no chance of being elected.

Really, if it came down to voting for Stalin or Simon Cowell since they spent hundreds of millions of $ on campaigning, had almost equal support in polls... I'd select one, even though I hated both, instead of wasting a vote on a candidate I liked more but had absolute zero chance to win.

Think of it, from the point of affecting the outcome as a voter, it makes no sense to vote for Gene Amondson/Ted Weill/ anyone else than either McCain or Obama in the 2008 elections, because like it or not, either one of those 2 will be sitting in the White House come January 2009, and there is no other alternative. You're just throwing away a vote.

That's exactly the point I was going after.

Or we could all vote for Ralph Nader out of sympathy, since he has been on the ballot too many years.

That man needs to stop running. #-o

Ain't it strange all these miscallibrations always seem to select the Republican candidate? I remember such incidents in 2004 and I'm told it happened in 2000 too.

Especially given it's a problem which takes about 2 minutes to fix.

MUST BE CONSPIRACY FIGHT THE SYSTEM!!!

She's more qualified than Obama is.

Palin's dire, and has no presidential qualities, let alone vice presidential ones. She has little to no knowledge of the wider world, foreign policy and economics.

Apart from "Alaska being close to Russia" (True quote) Why else is Palin good with foreign policies?

She ordered French Fries at Burger King \'

I seriously hope McCain doesn't get elected, I don't have much of a problem with him but what I don't like is the prospect of his age and Palin being next in line if McCain was to die during his term. I could imagine her trying to exterminate the middle east simply due to a couple of extremist muslims :|

What makes me laugh is there'll be a record voter turnout in the leader of the democratic free world, in the most significant election for a while, and I bet only 30% will get off their [wagon] and vote.

I don't know about other states, but I know Pennsylvania and Florida are expecting 80%+ turnout.

As of 8:33 AM PST this morning, my vote for the next president of the United States (*cough* Obama) has been CAST!

BOOYA!

Guess the people in my town ain't that hardcore...I was so dreading a bunch of people lined up from 3:00 AM and onward. Got into the building and casted my vote within 30 minutes ::'.

Thanks for the great memories folks :).

Most would probably not vote because of work, of course they'd have to be allowed to go vote. Most won't vote, so they don't get to pick. Probably in about nine or ten hours we'll have results on who will be the next president.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

No way. I'm expecting like 55-60%.

I'm currently on a break from canvassing, but here's some [cabbage] from the local area that I'm at:

http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plan ... ealth.aspx

And then there's this, from a Rock the Vote rep: The polling precinct for Virginia Tech students in Blacksburg was moved to a church that sits on an unmarked road six miles off campus. Better carpool, Hokies.

So, before I saw this, I went to do a small door knocking section in the dorms. I knocked on 8 doors, and then the Hall Director (Head Hancho of the hall) comes up and tells me that without an escort, I can't be there.

I said alright, hid behind the steps, and then continued to knock. 3 doors later, he tells me the same thing, but this time escorts me out. He's like "I could write you up for this, but this is your last warning."

Kinda funny, it's no wonder this country has such low voter turn out.

My polling place was an elementary school buried in a suburb- no lines, even during lunch hour.

To be fair, part of the problems with voting stem from a long tradition of voter apathy- a record turnout is of course going to cause problems. Hopefully 4 years from now situations will improve.

How can I watch the elections?

I live in England, where it's broadcating on BBC1 from 11:30 till 6:00. I can't stay up all night because of school, but I can probably get up at 5:00. I don't want anyone to spoil it for me, so I have to watch it before school. Will it be broadcasted online? Can someone point me in the right direction?
