September 3, 200817 yr ouch. that must hurt. fortunately my parents never blocked anything off the internet. im sure they know how to but they always know that i will find ways out of it or substitutions. ;)
September 3, 200817 yr Mlb is not cursed. People who talk in third person have a tendency to get shot at some point, statistically speaking. Fair warning. By who? Lots of different people? There isn't much of a mode for that kind of thing. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.
September 3, 200817 yr My parental controls only control the amount of time I'm on. Which is currently set to 3 hours per day... which isn't enough when you're trying to get from level 65-70 in two weeks  (not talking RS here). But you want to know something funny? All of last year, my school district was getting harsher and harsher about everything. This site blocked, that site blocked, often for no reason. New rules. No gum on campus. No dark blue or black gloves allowed (gang stuff). This year, no iPods at school (even during lunch). No phones at school (again, even at lunch). Then last Friday, a big surprise: GOOGLE IS BLOCKED Now seriously.. WHAT THE FRIGGIN HELL? What are they thinking blocking google? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!! This is madness! Madness?? Madness!?!?? THIS... IS... PUBLIC SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!! *pushes computer off desk, sending it crashing into some freshmen*

There's a difference between blocking inappropriate sites, and blocking COMMON SEARCH ENGINES. But still, get a linux boot CD then they can't block you, even with that synchroneyes/fortiguard crap. Only in America though. Is the school system that afraid of students not knowing about stuff? What's left for them to block anyhow? Might aswell disable the internet. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
September 3, 200817 yr I have my own computer that I bought. My parents don't mess around with it. They trust me enough to know that (usually) I won't intentionally look at something I shouldn't. And to the school website blockers, at my middle school they blocked everything under every category. Fun, games, sex, boredom, education, etc. (Those were all things I found blocked, funny story when I found the block on sex I was actually trying to get to an online shooting game. I also believe they blocked rs under sex as well. :wall: ) Edit: Also read the rules about school having no ipods/cells. They did that last year at my school and saw it wasnt working. This year you can use cell phones and ipods during passing periods or lunch. So maybe that same type of thing will happen to you. :? Ponies!
September 3, 200817 yr My parents don't know how to use a computer. They can't even work a scientific calculator. My brothers don't give a damn either  Ultra Unholy,Hearted Machine...
September 3, 200817 yr My parents really don't care about what I do on the computer, so I guess I'm lucky. It really sucks for you though, isn't there a way for you to bypass it?

September 3, 200817 yr My parents know zip about the intrawebz. : Besides, they trust me. :twss: There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
September 3, 200817 yr never had parental blocks, never will, dad can't do ANYTHING with a computer (literally) and mum trusts me enough, plue she doesn't know a thing about my 2nd boot (Ubuntu) other than the fact that I have it \ we were so close to bypassing the school restrictions so we could do whatever on them, too bad it is impossible to bypass the Board Of Studies for free internet, except by using a mobile (cell) as a satelite modem Steam | PM me for BBM PIN Nine naked men is a technological achievement. Only in America though. Is the school system that afraid of students not knowing about stuff? What's left for them to block anyhow? Might aswell disable the internet. I seriously don't get why the school blocks anything. As long as people aren't downloading a virus, there should be nothing wrong. If people want to look at porn, they can easily go to the library down the street. And you can install a virus from a CD anyway. I bet it's because of all the overprotective parents "My Jhonny was exposed to pornographic images at school, and now he look them up at home! I don't know what to do!" "Well, ma'am, you have 5 options here you can either 1) Take matters into your own hands instead of blaming it on the school, and ground your little Jhonny 2) Slap your little Jhonny for looking up such dirty things online 3) Not let Jhonny hang out with friends that are going to influence him like that 4) Accept that that is what children do. Your husband did it as a kid. You kid's kids will do it. Get over it. 5) Overreact and call up the school board, and [bleep] and complain at them until they agree to change something."
September 4, 200817 yr Nope, not at all. I have been threatened with them, but never implemented. The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132.
September 4, 200817 yr I'm 14 (almost 15) and I've never had any sort of parental controls, except for porn channels on TV  My dad works with computers for a living (he's like the vice-pres of a computer company), so if I piss him off enough then I'm screwed. One time I got grounded and he did something so that I couldn't connect to the internet no matter what (and I'm pretty good with computers), and whenever I tried to open a browser a little window popped up saying "haha not a chance" But now I have a laptop, and when I get my new HD I'm going to dual boot Ubuntu so in case my mom decides to set up parental controls when I'm not home I'll just use Ubuntu (not that she knows how anyway, and if my dad does I'm screwed).
September 4, 200817 yr Well at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel for me. I'll need admin privlages for the second quarter of AP Computer Science, which means no more parental controls! Unfortunatly I have to wait nearly 38 more days (school days that is. Which means I'll actually be waiting about 54 days. In other words, the end of October).

My dad has done something similar to that. He has removed my login name from my computer (I share a computer with my brother), and he has also just taken the wireless internet connecter (I don't know what it's called, but I'm sure those who do know what I'm talking about know what it is) so that there is no way to get on the internet. The dumb parental controls (It's the CA security center from roadrunner too) used to block youtube channels and some gaming websites like gamespot for no reason whatsoever, that has since changed and it allows me to go on them, but still it blocks many things for w/e the reason. I used to not have parental controls, but ever since we got roadrunner in June they were turned on, and I never do anything on the computer anyways Forum Updates & Suggestions <------ Let your voice be heard!Forum Games <------- Coolest place on Tip.ItTip.It Forum Rules <------- Read them!
September 4, 200817 yr Well, i'm lucky, my parents never thought it was necessary to use parental controls. 8-) Yeah, i think they're more of a nuisance than helpful. Thats pretty funny that your computer at home blocked more than the one at school, cuz they usually block everything :wall:

September 4, 200817 yr As I said here earlier, I am cursed when I'm using my parent's computer. But I have my own computer, they don't have any power over it so I can do whatever I want. Fun (In a way) fact: In beta versions of Loghorn [Known today as Vista] what is now known as "user account controls" was "user account protection". And UAC in Vista is strong, I haven't managed to get past it, not even with proxies. At school, we can't even change the desktop background, because right clicks on the desktop aren't allowed... Or can we? Our administrator didn't block the entire control panel, so I just got it through there. I have so far managed to install Blender 3D, the GIMP, and Firefox on a USB stick that I carry around with me, but our administrator has blocked windows+R, so I can't get to cmd anymore, which is my current project. The security they use at school is standard Windows Server 2005 security as far as I know. None of the internet is blocked; Teachers use YouTube in lessons to demonstrate things (Like in chemistry, our teacher used it to show us a chemical reaction that was too dangerous and expensive to do in class) so our admin doesn't block it, and other things like that, because he wants everything to be available, in case the teachers need it, and he can't block off every flash game site that the 6th graders use. (It's a elementary and secondary/middle/high school in the same area.)
