fgfuyfyuiuy0
Many of us are cursed with those dreadful balls of puss. Some are not. I have tried many things to get rid of my acne. I have tried oral medicines, Tazorac, creams, colon cleansers (Disgusting!!!), sprays, pills... whatever you name I probably have done. Nothing has worked and I am fed up with that crap. So, I was looking online/real life and I found 2 sources on how to get rid of acne without medicine/w.e. I am going to be a test dummy and see which one works and post my findings here to help anyone else out (If it works). First One I heard from my dermatologist that 4 types of things cause acne: (1) Grain (2) Dairy (3) Sugar (duh) (4) Carbonated substances I am going to eliminate these substances from my eating habits. It will be difficult as I do like my energy drink everyday or the occasional soda, so I will have to try very hard. I began removing these from my eating habits (As of 8/23/08) and replaced these with more fruits, vegetables, and all water. I am now looking at labels on foods to see if any foods contain these. You will be surprised as to what all these substances are hiding in. Second One I purchased an electronic book. I downloaded all 125 pages (sigh). I watched some videos on YouTube and explored a couple Forums looking at customer's posts to push myself into buying the book... I am skeptical and worried (as most electronic buyers) that the 'customers' are false and the claims are made up. So, I decided to do this for members of society as I am not affiliated with the company nor did I make this account 1 day ago to trick more people into buying it. I am concerned about my acne and found no other choices than to try dieting. I will be updating my post to ensure everyone of my daily progress. If the diet does work, I will share the secrets with all of you instead of having you pay $34.95. : "First One" Progress - started Aug. 23, 2008 Day 1 - Everything looks the same Day 2 - Noticing more pimples... Day 3 - Everything pretty much looks worse. I can suspect this as my system is releasing the toxins from my body still. Day 4 - Everything looks like it did yesterday. I started the other diet thing today. I am so sick of it. Day 5 - Everything has calmed down. No new break outs and my skin isn't red. Day 6 - Dry and flaky, but nothing "disappeared". "Second One" Progress - started Aug. 26, 2008 Day 1 - IT SUCKS!!! I have to follow a strict diet thing. I can only eat 1 food ten times a day with tons of water... I can't have a meal! Only 2 more days until I can eat food again... :( Day 2 - Everything has calmed down. No new break outs and my skin isn't red. I am starving, though. All last night I was dreaming about eating ;) Day 3 - Dry and flaky, but nothing "disappeared". In order to keep this topic flowing, we need something to discuss. The discussion topic is "If you have acne, how bad is it? Have you tried everything? What is/is not working for you?" Wish me luck  I <3 Gears of War 2. SirHartlar
I don't have acne really, just the odd spot. It doesn't look too bad unless it gets infected, I've tried all sorts of different face washes before but they never seem to work so I just give my face a good clean before I go to bed. nine naked men
I used to get really bad acne, but then I saw the ad for Pro-Activ on TV and decided to try it out. It works pretty quick, and it actually does work. I don't ever get acne anymore... but I keep using the Pro-Activ preventer thing, just in case. Good Lord, that sounded so much like one of the people from the ad. #-o sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
Iamdan
I still get pimples but not that much. I put toothpaste on the fresh ones before I go to bed, it dries them out and shrinks it right down within 1-2 days. The best way to prevent is just diet, drinking plenty of water, and keeping your face clean.

saif
did you ever try a face wash? I recomend a neutrogena acne wash, with a salicyc acid (sp.) base. After that follow up with a benzaclin acne cream (need prescription). You can buy the wash at most super markets. Only costs about five dollars for a bottle that lasts a year. The benza clin costs about 30 dollars. At least it works
cadburys_egg
First One I heard from my dermatologist that 4 types of things cause acne: (1) Grain (2) Dairy (3) Sugar (duh) (4) Carbonated substances Ive never heard of anyone getting acne because of grain. Though im not particularly aware of what is in grain. Its most likely something they put with grain, rather than the grain itself. Dairy is a given because its generally quite fatty. Sugar and carbonated substances are synonymous really. But what about grease or fat in general. I used to get clusters of spots (not really acne) which were often influenced if id eaten a lot of food such as bacon, burgers or the like. Perhaps try lowering your intake of greasy foods? The thing I found when I used to get spots is that sometimes the creams can just make it worse. Although they often get rid of the spots, they tend to just burn through them and onto your skin, making it red and puffy. I find that often a simple solution of soap and water works best. I have these sort of glove things that I use, sort of a spongy/coarse texture, which really get into pores. They help alot to get the soap into the pores and not just form a layer on top. And I know it may sound girly, but try some face packs, they do give some surprising results. Find a decent seaweed based pack, mix it up and let it set for about 30 minutes and scrub it off. The most important thing is that you just keep it up. Get a routine of cleansing going and do it atleast daily. Aren't you supposed to eat grain daily? Not really, celiacs dont. anonymous1234
Grain is kind of a big part of...living in general. Where else are you going to get energy from huh? Sugar and Fats are out of the question, so what're you gonna do, load up on cheeseburgers and steaks? on topic: I almost never get acne and when I do its a barely noticeable little pimple  I started using a tea tree oil face pad thing but I don't know if it really works at all. Celiac disease is a condition in which the lining of the small intestine is damaged by an allergic reaction to the food protein gluten which is present in a number of grains. It is said to be an auto-immune disease since antibodies produced by the immune system against specific gluten components, namely gliadin, cross react with intestinal tissue which contains similar proteins. I assume you're around 17 years old? At that age, acne won't completely go away no matter what you do. If it's just related to puberty, then it should go away by that time you're 19-21 years old (obviously different for different people). There is heavy duty acne treatment, Accutane, that you could ask a dermatologist about. I didn't do that one though because they have to draw your blood every month or so. The two things that have worked best for me have been washing my face regularly and using prescibed ointments. Unfortunatly though, I think you just have to deal with having acne for awhile. Theres a vast difference between natural sugars and manufactured sugars. Rice is a grain, technically, but its.. different. Hard to explain in laymans. Instead of using wheat they often use soya or maize substitutes. Its possible to raise bread without using wheat. That's why it's called a "disease". In most countries less than 1% of people have it. Thats not to say it doesnt affect people, though. 2 people in my family have it, im just saying its possible to survive without wheat grain specifically. DieselX
I used to have very bad acne as kid. Mine started before everyone elses and lasted longer than everyone else. It was really horrible, how awful I looked, and how the other kids were annoying about it. It went away overtime. The first thing I did, I started washing my hair more often and using good shampoo(rusk's), and got my hair cut so that it wouldn't be in my face anymore, all at the advice of my hairdresser. Then I discovered I had a small health problem, that could have affected my hormones, so I got an operation, and got that fixed. Then I started eating healthy food and taking natural vitamin supplements. I stopped taking milk and cheese, because most adults are allergic to it, and started taking calcium supplements instead. It's important to look for natural vitamin supplements(found in natural foods stores), as opposed to the normal cheap ones, because they're poorly made and don't work. Most notably, you have to take coral calcium, a multivitamin, vitamin D, selenium, omega-3, silica, and most importantly zinc. Either you buy capsules, or eat them through normal food. Then you have to stop using chemical products of any kind on your skin, it will just make it worse, just use water and hypoalergenic soap. Avoid all fried-foods. I'm somewhat of a health nut ^^' Nowadays, I got rid of all my acne and I look pretty good, and I managed to not get away with not too many acne scars. (1) Grain Grain is not bad. What's bad is when you eat proccessed grain, like uncle bens and things similar to that. You have to buy the unaltered hard grains (like basmati rice, millet, and all of that) then make it boil in water a couple of minutes. (2) Dairy Yep (3) Sugar (duh) Yep, fat also. (4) Carbonated substances Not necessarily. Carbonated water is alright, but don't drink softdrinks (diet or not, they're all harmful). fruit contains a lot of sugar, which he is trying to avoid The sugar in fruit is a completely different type of sugar than processed white sugar. Processesed sugar is assimilated very quickly and makes sugar levels skyrocket, whislt fruit sugar is a complex sugar that takes a longer time to digest and wont make the sugar levels raise. Acne is a sign that either your hormones are all over the place, or that you are doing something wrong to your body and its reacting, or a mix of both. Anywho, what do you mean by the bolded part? Medicinal chemical products make acne better while make-up and some moistrizers can make it worse. Surely you don't mean chemical products in general, right? Beer

aquariusman
Currently, I'm supposed to be using "Dalacin T - Clindamycin Phosphate Topical Solution USP 1%" It's a liquid in a bottle that has an applicator. I dab it on my back, which is where my acne is most prominent. You also have to realize that there are two kinds of acne - surface acne and below the skin. The majority of mine is below the skin, meaning that I will get bumps, and they will only turn red and inflamed if I pick at them. Unfortunately, I have developed that habit because I always need to be doing something, I can't just sit still and watch TV - thus why I have taken to video games and computer so well, my hands are always kept busy typing or playing - so I end up picking at my acne. Anyways, this lotion or whatever you want to call it works great for me when I actually manage to remember to use it for more than a week. My acne all but disappeared for a month or so when I didn't change my daily routine. Now that school will be starting, I will probably get a routine that will not change at all, so I'm expecting my acne to completely disappear. Oh, and any acne treatment you use, you'll be using until your 19-21, so I'd go for something that is the least obtrusive. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience.
