Howlin0001
I have problems getting/staying asleep. I could say go to sleep now and it would take close to an hour to fall asleep then I would wake up at about 9:00am. Even if i went to sleep at 11:30 still takes me an hour to fall asleep then up at about 9. Started about 2-3 months ago. I even changed beds recently and didn't help. I have tried alot of general stuff to try fall asleep: Counting numbers Counting back words Counting sheep Trying to sleep Trying to stay away Making up stories If I think of anything else I'll add it here. Can anyone help?
Lateralus
Avoid computer/television screens, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and the like for a while before bed. I think the most important thing is to reserve your bed specifically for sleep (and sex, so the experts say). I've always had trouble getting to sleep, but I'm staying with my mother just now until the lease on my new flat starts, and there's no desk or chair in this room so I've been using the bed as a kind of all purpose space. It's become hellish trying to fall asleep. EDIT: Unless I'm misunderstanding it seems like you're getting plenty of sleep anyway. La lune ne garde aucune rancune. BlueLancer
Heh, I tried everything for years since I started having sleeping problems at 15 or so.. Turns out nothing works. Sometimes I go awake for 24 hours and sleep 4, not tired at all.. Sometimes I'm awake for 15 hours and need to sleep 15, still feel tired. Sleep pills, routines, dark room, not using bed for anything else than sleeping.. Nope, nothing helps. It's not particularly bothering at least in my life but irrational and unusual sleep patterns can sometimes screw up schedules. Doubt you have a case of insomnia or sleep disorders but just throwing it (the possibility) out there.

Zierro
I have the same exact problem. Usually after a busy day I can fall right asleep though. So, do some work in the middle of the day and try to purposely wear yourself out - sorry, that's the best advice I can give. Oh and never work right before you want to try to fall asleep because that might actually keep you up longer since your body has just adjusted itself into the "energized mode". Although occasionally I can get right to sleep after doing work, but more often than not I will be even more awake.
BlueLancer
I know your pain though  Good luck staying focused on anything after 2 hours of sleep & feeling like your head is going to explode.. Total piece of crap advice, but at least works temporarily.. Energy drinks will make it so that you don't fall instantly asleep while you're at school/work and totally depraved of sleep. Howlin0001
I have the same exact problem. Usually after a busy day I can fall right asleep though. Don't work, I have been working for the last 2 weeks and that do not help at all.(I'm a general labourer, dragging bits of trees and timber from one place to another all day) Total piece of crap advice, but at least works temporarily.. Energy drinks will make it so that you don't fall instantly asleep while you're at school/work and totally depraved of sleep. But even with the little I sleep in bed I never fell asleep in school(no matter how hard I try) yet :D . (I think I kinda sound ignorant saying the ideas so far don't work but sorry I don't mean to be)
Ouchy
I cannot remember excatly, but these are a few suggestion I read on a website: [*:eyrwuaoq] Drink hot milk before bed [*:eyrwuaoq] Fall to sleep listening to music [*:eyrwuaoq] Wiggle your toes up and down about 10-20 times (it is said to relax your body) [*:eyrwuaoq] If you are in bed for more than half and hour, get up and get a drink of water, then try sleeping again [*:eyrwuaoq] Image you are in a happy place Good luck with your sleeping problems. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

megakiller32
Any counting is stupid, it never works. TRYING to sleep or TRYING to stay away doesn't work either. Just think about things instead of trying to sleep. But finally, Be more active in the day. If you spend all day doing nothing, obviously you won't feel tired at night. assassin_696
Don't try and force yourself to sleep and don't worry about your lack of sleep, if anything that just makes it harder to get to sleep. Give yourself 20-30 minutes before you go to bed of just chilling out in fairly low lighting. Read a (preferably not too interesting) book. ThurinEthir
Read a bit before you sleep. If you really want, pick the most boring book you can find. Not only is it good to read for pleasure once in a while, but unless it's one of those really cliffhangery, suspenseful books, then you ought to be tired a little afterward. Or at least that's what I've been told. Then when you actually try to sleep, just relax, let your mind wander. It might not help, but close your eyes (Obviously), and try to ignore all sounds. Basically, isolate yourself from the world. I have this thing with making connections (If I let my mind wander, it will wander very far), but it distracts me, and I eventually fall asleep Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. warren211
Seven or eight ibuprofen tablets should do the trick ;) On a more serious note, I have sometimes had the same trouble sleeping. Usually it occurs after a few late nights and I try to go to bed early a day after. My body is used to the late nights and I can't fall asleep. Reading a book helps me, just make sure the book isn't too full of action. If your mind starts to wander at all the events in the book and go crazy with thoughts, you have trouble sleeping. The same with TV and videogames. If you do them too late, your mind is a little too excited to put to sleep. Another thing I do is go on OT before sleeping. It keeps me busy while not too overexcited. Who knew the intrawebs could be your sleeping pill? [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. deloriagod
Avoid computer/television screens, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and the like for a while before bed. Interesting.. I spend a lot of time on my computer or around a tv screen before bed, I generally drink soda all day and up to the point when I go to bed, and I like a nice cigarette before I call it a night. And I rarely have trouble falling asleep :-k But on those rare occasions I do have trouble getting to sleep, sleeping pills are a good idea. As long as you don't let your body become dependent on them, then they're ok. Internet Marketing For Newbies

Yomyth105
do something really active during the day that will make u tired. whether its sports, weightlifting. or traveling from place to place.(working too) then it would make u tired so u would fall asleep. if u r trying to fall asleep dont just sit in bed trying to do so. if u really cant then read a book and it will make u go to sleep. + its useful. Returned3
For me its simple, just lay in your bed/mattress, look at the ceiling and think about stuff that makes you happy and imagine you doing it (I always think of having my crush as my gf, but thats another story) and you'll fall right asleep before you even know it. Thats the way I sleep everyday, never gets old. Hope it will solve your problem. 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00 Break the Walls down!
