RpgGamer
fellow insomniac here. I go to sleep at 4-5am everyday and wake up around 9am for school/work. How do i manage? I fall asleep in class, and at random during the day. How would I fix this? sitting still in a chair for more than 5 minutes. If you stay up long enough, your body will eventually force you to sleep. So, try doing a hard reset on your body clock. stay up all night without even trying to sleep, then when the next "bedtime" occurs, just find somewhere comfy and relax. OT: Skip a night. If you get up at 4 PM, then stay awake all night and stay awake for the rest of the day, then go to bed at 8 PM. The trick is to continue going to bed at the beginning of the night, and not fall back into your old habits.

I like to think of it as temporary suicide. Because real suicide is way too extreme, people will have to deal with your corpse and your death, you miss out on the future, it's not a reputable way to go, too painful and scary, etc. Too many cons when you can just go to sleep in order to avoid the chaos of life, even if it's only for a while. Plus you get to have dreams.

Assume Nothing
I've heard that white noise usually helps in falling asleep, not like radio static or a ticking clock, but something like a whirring fan
Dupin
I've heard that if you get a some white noise, a red light, put the halves of a ping pong ball over your eyes, and wait thirty minutes, you can hallucinate.

The Runar
I've had problems getting to sleep for years. I'm almost never tired, unless I stay awake for over 30 hours. Recently I've found a good way to get to sleep: I grab my iPod and just listen to music eyes closed laying on the bed until I get tired. Usually it doesn't take very long, I know that I'm tired when I forget that I'm listening to music (once happened three times during one song) :D Once I even fell asleep while still listening  I also make sure that the last few songs are something I call inspiring (usually some light power metal songs about dragons and stuff like that - I ♥ fantasy very much). I have much better dreams if I do that. :) The Runar's (OSRS) DIY blog - most viewed Blogscape blog ever! Contract? /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
Lenticular_J
The only times I get a good night's sleep are after I've had an exhausting day. I need to be tired as a dog physically and mentally, fully fulfilled emotionally. That is always a great sleep. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
doomy
I have trouble getting to sleep alot, have had it for years and its really frustrating. I think its because I think about things alot more and alot more in depthly, and also because supersensitive to an itch or a crease in the sheet for no apparant reason :P I think its mostly because I think too much though. michel555555
playing some light music ususally helps me when i'm trying to get to sleep. Anything but country or heavy mettle. [spoiler=click you know you wanna]Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!
Assume Nothing
Never play songs that you would sing to, play something that is relatively neutral. Don't go playing something like Airplanes or Don't stop believing. I think the best things to listen to whilst sleeping is either smooth jazz, or the sound of rain. Hmm
Skeptical
I have to do something physical during the day: work out, hockey, dig, split wood, haul something, bike.... I find relaxing by reading or listening to music in the lowest light possible (not in front of a computer screen) is very helpful if I'm not feeling tired. Hawks
I take 3mg of Melatonin every night at the advice of my doctor because I have issues sleeping too. It's sort of natural, your body makes it as well. I want to say it's also in turkey and milk but I might be wrong. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
Bows
After sleeping with a fan on for the past twelve years I find it almost impossible to fall asleep without the noise in the background. It sits at the foot of my bed, roughly two feet away from my feet. I use the remote for it to turn it on right when I get into bed, set it to medium at first, and then as I get more tired I gradually lower the intensity until it's hardly more than a whisper; right after that, I fall asleep.
