Chain Letters

What's your view on chain letters? Do you support chain letters/messages sent on via e-mail, mail, instant messaging, myspace, facebook, ect? Many include a consequence for not doing so, eg. harm to family/self, bad luck, good luck, and all that. Personally, I don't believe in such letters and feel that they are real and true. I never have believed one of the things could have happened to me if I did/didn't spread the message, but many people do it. I might do it for fun, but I don't really expect anything to happen to me unless it's coincidence.

SPAM.

They're an annoying stupid/annoying letter people just post to block out comments. ESPECIALLY ON YOUTUBE, no joke. Every little 8 year old is scared out of their mind and believe the letters so they have to spam it on like 300 videos so they are 'safe'.

I do all of the things they say because they're TRUE! It'll happen!

If you don't send this to 50 people you know, a giant statue of mickey mouse will decapitate you at midnight! If you do, you will obtain the secret to ETERNAL HAPPINESS!

Biggest load of crap I've ever heard.

I hate chain emails. I delete em as soon as I get em. They're stupid and made up by a fat loser with nothing better to do than make up superstitious stories scaring the easily fooled into thinking a dead lady will come at them with a knife in 23 and 1/2 seconds if they don't send this to 23 and 1/2 people.

I once got one from a rather religious friend. It was a chain email that was started by two christian brothers, telling about how chain emails are the spawns of the devil and makes people believe in superstition and not God (or themselves if they're not a believer). While I sort of agree on the latter, what I really hated was at the end of the message the email encouraged to foreward this to everyone they knew.

There's also another type of emails in which some loser creates a sob story about a single mom struggling to pay medical bills, kid's near death, unemployed, etc. It is pretty sad, but the email said "if you send this to 10 people, AOL and Yahoo have agreed to give our struggling family 5 cents." First of all, it's bad enough you're turning a sad story that is a reality for many struggling families into a way of getting a chain email started to spam your friends inboxes. Second, you're fooling the idiots and the caring people of our nation into thinking they're the saviors of the family by sending an email. Third, AOL and Yahoo are businesses. Not charities. They would not pay someone for a chain email because they felt sorry for them. And finally, which family can live off less than a few dollars a day? If you're a struggling single unemployed mom with 3 kids near death, the IRS knocking on your door, and your house falling apart, 2 dollars a day isn't going to be your saving grace.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

I once did two so the true love of my life would confess her feelings for me, and have sex with me, on two separate days, just to create a logical fallacy.

Nowadays I just bin them. In fact, I don't even go on MySpace anymore.

Seriously, who's going to say the like chain letters?! ;)

Me. I think they're funny. I get them from friends on a regular basis. Well, only two guys send them. And one of them gets them from his grandmother (you can tell by the way it's signed at the end).

A few years ago I sent an email out to about 20 people asking them to send on the attached email because I wanted to see how far a chain mail could go.

The email I sent them, as an attachment (technically they are the ones starting the chain mail) contained a few tricks that allowed me to track how often it was displayed. The count got to around 3,000 (I don't recall the exact figure) but these days it's normally impossible to tell if someone opened an email but I do get the occasional request for an image I hid at the bottom of the email so it is apparently still out there  .

I seldom see chain emails but judging by my little one the spread like wildfire.

I don't mind chain emails so much because it's easy to spot them from the subject. 'Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:...' I never even bother reading them. What I really hate is chain texts. I really hate when my phone goes off at 2am and it's some random person sending me a [cabbage] story about a girl who died. I hope whoever invented chain texts dies a painful death. -.-

I think I'm overdue with 20+ girls killing me at night, 10+ of my friends getting hurt and 30+ curses of me remaining single and being unhappy for the rest of my life.

Yea... Chain letters. They tell a good story at the start and ruin it when the "Spread this to XX people by XX or you will die!?!" line at the end. They're really nutritious and full of vitamins for my recycle bin but I've gotta empty the load every once in awhile.

When I was in school i used to send whoever send me the message back to them however many times it said so in the chain. i.e. If it tells you to forward to 20 friends i send the message back to the person 20 times. I stopped getting sent chain letters then.

Never believed them. It always irritates me to see chain letters, not only on the networking sites, e-mails, and instant messaging programs, but also on YOUTUBE. :wall: And it's always the same thing: " [...] Send this to # of people and you will ."

No chain texts yet, but probably because I threatened to delete anyone from my phone and not pick up their calls should they try to pull a stunt like that.

In a way, it kind of reminds me of the old Bloody Mary stuff in the school bathrooms back in elementary school. :?
