Basically my Xbox 360 caused a circular scratch to go around my disc. Now it says "disc cannot be read" after about 5 minutes. I called microsoft, they said to goto their website and email them, I emailed then and the told me to call them up. So bascially Microsoft has their head up their [wagon]. No wonder im a Sony fanboy.

THE POINT OF THIS POST: Will I have to buy a new game or will Microsoft cover it because it was caused by the 360?

Pics or it didn't happen. I'm not spamming either, I genuinely don't believe you, given the fact you are a SONY fanboy.

I also doubt a company as big as Microsoft would have such a substandard customer service.

Me thinks you're lying, or you've at least exaggerated the truth.

Circle of Death on disks... quite common actually, especially if you have your xbox standing up (Verticle)

Nothing you or microsoft can do about it, unlucky.

EDIT: Not to be confused with RROD, Merely refering to it as circle of death cause thats what the guys at my local game store called it when I tried to trade in a game (Even though the game worked =/) they refused to accept it.

I've heard of this. Never knew it was because the thing's vertical.

I have heard of it happening if you move your 360 while the game is running/the system is on. Nothing you can do either way, though it can be fixed, from what I've seen.

yes, you don't want to move your running Xbox. Turn it off and move it if you have to. :?

This is weird. These things seem to be common, yet in the nearly 2 years since I got mine the only serious pronlem has been a red ring. But thanks to great customer service, it went from here (NY long island),to the Texas/Mexico boarder and back in less than 3 weeks.

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

We weren't doubting that the disc was scratched, we just don't believe the BS with the customer service, sure it's bad. But find a huge company like Microsoft that has really good customer service and I'll give you credit.

It's your own fault for the disc being scratched, that only happens if you move the xbox while it's running.

You hurt my feelings :(

Oh and heres the BS email I got sent

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft online support for XBOX. I am Scott and I will be helping you today with this issue.

We're sorry to hear that you found your NCAA Football 2008 scratched while inside the console.

Scratches on a game disc can occur for several reasons. However, scratches do not necessarily prevent the disc from working.

If you move or reposition an Xbox 360 console while the console is operating and a disc is in the drive, the disc could become scratched. You may also see a wide, cloudy film in a circle on the underside of the disc.

To provide the best game play experience possible, Xbox 360 games are optimized to spin at 12x speed. This speed enables the game to access information from the disc quickly. If the console is moved while a disc is spinning at 12x, the disc can make contact with the read head. This condition can cause the disc to be scratched.

If you think that the game disc has been scratched and the console has not been moved or bumped, please contact Xbox Phone Support at the number below for more help.

Note: To help avoid a disc from being scratched, turn off the console or remove the game disc before you reposition or change the orientation of the console.

You may contact Xbox Phone Support at 1-800-4MYXBOX (1-800-469-9269) at your earliest convenience, and we'll be happy to help you. We are open everyday from 8am to 12mn US Central Time. Please provide the Service Request Number below when you call.

If you need to reply to this e-mail, please reply 'with history' (include any previous e-mail) or reference to Service Request Number [REMOVED] so we can expedite our service to you.

Thank you for visiting Xbox.com. If you should have future questions on Xbox products or services, please be sure to revisit our Web site as we are continually adding information to enhance our service.

First of all, what the hell does GF mean?!

Second of all, you moved the xbox while the game was in it, and the censor scratched it. That's why it is scratched.

Penny, don't jump to asumptions. Things happen, parts break that could do that. Its not always the person's fault (though most the time it is ;) )

And, GF means Good Fight (right :? )

Funny thing is, I'm actually going to back MLB on this one. My halo 3 disc met the same fate, because of a power surge, which caused my disc to scratch. Then again, my 360 now just sits there, not seeing much, if any use. Chances are, the header-thingy described in MLB's post might've occured.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Well, this mainly happens because someone moves the xbox while the disk is inside the console, and it's running, which causes the censor to touch the disk, which scratches it. I don't really see any other possibility for this happening... :|

You might be able to just buff the game a few times though, that might take care of it if the scratches aren't too deep. My friend did that, and the game worked afterwards. Take it to a local gamestop or ebgames or whatever game stores your area has, they should have a machine that buffs games.

happened alot with halo 3 edition of 360, maybe a few other skus but i've read alot of disc scratching with that one. microsoft replaced that game in that case, not sure about your situation though. i'm pretty sure you just lost $60.

Yeah there was a fault in production causing it to create the same mark as if you had moved it whilst in a 360.

I'm pretty sure they also sell either a machine or a windex-like substance that can do just that as well.
