Well in death note the manga is pretty much like the anime. In most animes they just sorta do their own thing with no order whatsoever according to the manga. I remember when I was young reading a pokemon manga (which I don't remember where I got it.) It wasn't anything like the show. (also at that time I was taught to read left to right, not in manga style). Anyway it's sort of what they'll do when they make a book into a movie, have the same names of the characters, and those are the only similarities. Ponies!
