I have mixed emotions about it...the whole avatar thing just kinda disgusts me...because as lenin said a couples days ago it's so disturbingly obvious that it's a WII ripoff.

The new dashboard is interesting, however I really don't like the new avatars, as stated above, they seem too much like the Wii Avatars.

They are alot more "realistic" than Miis. They are not that bad, really. Take my generic looking Avatar as an example. (Or limpbizkit's for the weird one)

seems like it might help out quite a few kids who arn't all that great in the first olace with electronics in general, imo

How does installing a game on the harddrive work, can I install my copy of Gears of War 2 on my brother's 360 then have his xbox on running it off his HDD while I run the actually disc copy on my xbox at the same time?

Only 3 hours until it is offically released..... i'm so physcied :D

You do need the actual disc in to boot the game, but you could probably boot the game and then take out the disc since it doesn't spin at all if your running it off your HD. I'd sure they thought of this and made sure you can't eject the drive, but you could try manually ejecting the disc drive (don't know how on a 360...). I'm gonna go try it now actually :D

 

 

 

EDIT: DO NOT TRY THIS! I booted Rock Band 2 from my HD, and when I stuck the paper clip into the hole to eject the disc tray manually (I tested it before hand to make sure it would eject fine, it did) it started making these really weird noises. Thankfully it still reads discs and my RB2 disc isn't scratched, but I'm sure this can easily seriously damage your disc laser.

And btw, if you are trying to use Netflix. It won't work with Columbia movies (It's owned by Sony)

 

 

 

They made it so you can't use it on the Xbox, however you can still stream it on your PC. That is what i call BS. At least they could have told people about this some time ago.

am i the only one who [bleep]ing hates it? i wanna go back to the old one. it's all pointless fluff. my backgrounds i have look like [cabbage] cause they are halfway cutoff now, the avatar can't even have a decent damn goatee, and the accessories look like crap. i already even froze my 360 cause of it once.

 

 

 

i used the "close tray" option, and it booted up fallout 3, which i knew was gonna happen, so i clicked the guide button, and clicked to go back to the dashboard, it didn't do anything. so i clicked the guide button again, and clicked to go to the dashboard again. and low and behold, it froze. wonderful. i love new things that don't work right. i want my old one back.

I don't see how it is that amazing compared to the old one really, the avatars are pretty similar to the Wiis and I haven't seen anything new apart from that and the party chat.

It's the little things that make it better, the more you use it the more you'll like it.

Yeah there's a ton of small changes that make it way better

 

The avatars are a lot better than I expected...

 

Party chat is a god send

 

Overall looks much better, cleaner if you will. Easier to navigate too and I much prefer the friend and ingame popup menu.

Seriously, why? Now that I've used it, I can honestly say I don't like it. There's so many added features, but none of them are really worth anything. I did manage to escape making an avatar, just hit the guide button and went to dashboard when they tried to force it on me. Bouya. My Halo Wars background is now obscured by all those worthless messages and such, and the picture for a good deal of games doesn't appear, leaving just a picture of a CD (the only one to work so far is GHIV). Oh, and I can't access the marketplace anymore.

 

 

 

Thank Fat Jesus I only have to deal with it between games.

So far the only problem I have (which is a major one IMO) is that the Marketplace is incredibly slow. It took me 10 minutes just to download the Dead Kennedy's Pack and Best of The Who for RB2, not including download times, so 10 minutes of navigation.
