I made a Greasemonkey RuneScape Assistant.

I have made a Greasemonkey Script that harnesses the power of several sites, mainly the excellent Tip.It RuneScape Tips and Help site, but also including the RuneScape Hiscore and Grand Exchange database, and also the RuneScape Wiki. It's called 'RuneScape Assist' and is a Greasemonkey Userscript.

Basically the script adds some Javascript to the RuneScape Game page and adds a menu down the bottom of the screen, offering a range of tools like User Lookup, Item Lookup, Quest Lookup, NPC Lookup, Calculators and SwiftIRC. Because you don't have to download any executable files and you can continue to use the Official RuneScape web page as normal, you don't have to worry about all that scam stuff.

Because this tool makes use of the Tip.It website, I'm sure someone here will benefit from it. I originally made it for myself, but I thought I might as well share and posted it on http://www.userscripts.org/ . If someone in Tip.It wants to help develop it, then let me know and we can make it a ultimate tool for all RuneScapers. Also any suggestions and bug reports are welcome and I want to make this tool as safe, bug-free and great to use as possible.

I don't know what the policy on linking to external material is around here, so I will refrain from linking to this tool until someone gives me the go-ahead. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/35920 - Direct link to the script - DarkDude98

Actually, a grease monkey is someone who works with complex machinery, like cars or conveyor belts. That's where the grease part comes from. Monkey probably comes from the fact that monkeys are agile and nimble.
If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

I never commented on WHERE the term grease monkey comes from.

I merely said in this case it fits nicely as it is firefox usage trend that you have a word (eg grease, fire, thunder) follwoed by an animal (eg monkey, fox, bird)

Thats pretty cool!

I think imma download it

Does it only work for HD though?

Yeah it works with any detail.

Any suggestions to improve screen real-estate? Maybe a resizable menu?

I installed it. Doesn't work. None of the buttons do anything. Think I'll stick to the tip.it one for now.

Just quoting myself to say that I fixed the problem. Not exactly sure what it was, but I think it might have been the AVG antivirus toolbar... thing.

Still think the tip.it toolbar is better :P . The little popups it brings up overlays the game window instead of forcing the stretch-mode applet to adjust, and it brings up just the calculators instead of whole pages.

I like that yours has swift IRC and quest guides on it though, and particularly the item lookup (tip.its brings up the item in its own database which is nice... but the GE price listings are like 7+ months old... #-o). It would be awfully nice if yours didn't cut off the header thus disabling tip.it's toolbar when yours is active so I could possibly use both.

Or allow the IRC to be hidden, with a - and + sign kind of thing.

Pretty sure it should go here.

That would be correct. Good luck with your program just remember it should be posted in that sticky.

While most things that are advertised do belong in the sticky, this particular program is a completely Runescape oriented tool, an add-on for the Firefox browser and I feel that it has a place in the Runescape general discussion forum, like the other add-ons that have been posted about and were not required to pick up and move.

Alright, I'm free to play, and I'm using this script (very good work, by the way.) My concern is that since downloading your script, there are no ads displayed for me anymore. I'm worried that this script somehow disables the ads for free to play people, which of course is against the rules (Rule 15). Any solution?

As far as critique goes, I like this script. The only thing I think would make it better is if it imitated the tip.it add-on and put any open windows on the side. (I guess I like a vertically smushed game better than a horizontally smushed one ::' )

-.-

Not saying you're trying to scam us (the people who think everything anyone ever posts here is a scam/virus/harmful are not very educated), but that's technologically untrue what you said (I highlighted it in bold). JavaScript is executable and can be used harmfully too. I'd recommend reading up on XSS.

Don't mean to be annoying, but I would like like an answer to my question above. Anyone else getting this problem? Should I just go back to using the tip.it microhelper?
