For your own sakes, before trusting a random person with 1 post, hover your mouse over the link in any standard web browser. It will show you the true URL. If it deviates from the original, just don't click on it especially if it takes you to a site such as "runsscapeforumz.freeeehost.com/login.html"

My firefox doesnt show a little pop-up box with the address in it, but it shows the real link down in the corner of the browser by the start button, like sbride said.

Such sites do not keylog you.

 

 

 

They are called phishers and they only steal your acc name and password. I personally have copies of phishers too - I can just upload them, make a domain rmnescape.com and start spamming it. It actually is a fast way to scam accounts.

 

 

 

Only reason why I don't do it is because I hate scammers and thus I never scam.

When it's filtered, like now, it's impossible for anybody to get scammed. If you click on the link it will just take your browser to an URL like "[scamurl]" and you get a 404 error.

 

 

 

I will use the filtered link & the address "trick" as an example to demonstrate the point:

As you see, now if you hover your mouse over the link, it will show the censored one instead, and nobody is fortunately at risk.

Jagex warns us multiple times never to enter our passwords on any other site then http://www.runescape.com

 

 

 

Bookmark it and only use that link when you visit the main forums. Clicking links sent to you in a private message or in a mail is just plain silly. :wall:

What can they actually steal? I mean even if you've done all the quests you can only give away 60k and you cant even do that unless the person you are giving away to also has done all quests. Is there any point in "hacking" people's characters anymore?

 

They could sell it for cash in real life...Or to piss the person who their hacking off.

and i have been scammed several times by these people, so buy just ip banninng, and deleting there account they can just reform there ip around the ban soo we need to find a way to change this :wall:

Unless he set out from the offset to be untraceable, and actually knows how to do so, he can easily be found with the right methods.

I think the guy can be traced. My friend got hacked, and he said if he had been with his dad, (as he knew who hacked him), he would have sent him so much (you fill in the blank \ ), and even hacked his comp,so I think tracing would not be a big problem...

I got hacked by this scam a few years ago on TIF "Dude you got owned in this vid. Click here to watch it." Yea.. i was an idiot back then.

It's very important to check the link BEFORE you click it, its possible with javascript to stick an image of the text "http://runescape.com" over the actual adress bar, or even change the text, in the latter case, the website could look ABSOLUTLEY like the official site, even the address bar...

 

 

 

So watch out, if something doesn't seem right, right-click, go to properties ("view page info" for firefox), and check out where the page comes from... trust me, its not that hard to replicate the runescape website to the letter...

That is what my friend does... does not stop him from getting hacked at all though :lol:, oh well i guess, but its partly his fault lol

Well if Kota gets hacked again, at least he won't lose valuables.
