No, I think it does, it's just that, I take an apathetic approach, I nkow it isn't right, but I still support it. I also support legalizing weed simply because, if people will do it anyways, and you can't stop it, then tax it and help other people with the money. In my mind, I think people are prostitutes because they don't have much of a chance of being something else (they're stupid, failed school etc).

Police here in the U.S. bring a decent number of people in on charges related to prostitution. I will admit most are caught through sting operations but a decent number are caught in the act or whatnot.

That's a very naive comparison. Saruman's taking a very pragmatic (and in my opinion) sensible stance, he's aware that whatever you do with the laws prostitution will still exist, you can only drive it underground by making it illegal. Killing people is nothing like prostitution.

 

 

 

I saw a Stephen Fry documentary recently where he visited a legal brothel in Nevada. It was a model business run by a very competent lady. All the prostitutes were pretty much their own business women who used the premises and paid commission. All the girls had regular health checks and would check all the men before they started. It was safe and contributing to the economy.

 

 

 

Granted i'm not sure i'm entirely comfortable with the morality of the situation, but i'm not naive enough to think that making it illegal will get rid of the problem. That simply gets the girls drawn into crime and gangs.

If it's strictly controlled where only licensed brothels can run it I'd suppose it's not bad as long as condoms are worn and the clients aren't allowed to ejaculate within or on the prostitute then I wouldn't see much problems with it.

 

 

 

As long as it's strictly controlled to stop the spread of dangerous STD's, prostitutes are checked every two months for STD's and keep clients on record so they can be informed if a STD is found to be had by a prostitute so they can get tested and if possible have it cured.

You're right. Even a zero tolerance policy and serious investment into the police won't eliminate prostitution. The demand is there, and someone is going to supply it. I think that the problem lies not with actual prostitution, but with the pimps who mistreat the prostitutes. They should get at least the minimum wage, they should have health checks, they should be allowed to leave/join the trade when they want, and all of the other laws that come with a legitimate business.

It really shouldnt be legal for a lot of reasons.I mean (im not 100% sure how this wors lol, not like I am involved any way in prostisution) the prostitute goes ALONE into the buyers house. There are instantly so many things that can go wrong, both ways.

 

For the buyer, who knows lol, it could be a thief in disguise, but idk i dont think that s a real issue.

 

 

 

It worse for the prostitute, they're at so much more risk. Who knows what sick mind the buyer might have, and how they could seriously take advantage of them with ease. Plus, the risk of STD's are in a way just too high.

Ie legalized licensed brothels which adhere to the laws / rules like in Nevada, where security is on hand for the prostitutes safety and condoms are mandatory for the clients / prostitutes safety.

Well, I think the policy here (The Netherlands) goes by population in a city. Meaning like 30000 inhabitants of the city = 2 brothels allowed.

 

In my city 2 brothels are allowed I think, the last one closed down a few years ago because there was no demand though. I'd say prostitution should be lagalized since not every person feels like building up a relationship with someone just to have sex. Some people are too lazy I'd think. We'd have to ask an actual costumer to know his motives though since most of us can only speculate.

 

Also in America the best example of legalized prostitution is the so called 'Bunny Ranch'. I've seen a documentary about it, the girls seemed pretty happy and it seemed quite hygienic.
