Prostitution, should it be legal?

As the topic says, should it be legal?

I think it should, it's not the government's job to tell you what to do with your body... (exceptions with crap like murder and child porn and whatnot).

It was proposed to be legalized in San Fransisco (anything goes in SF).

But my opinion? Yes it should and it should be taxed :).

It'll be good for some bow chicka wow wow action to help pay for child education.

In my opinion, it should not. I find it terrible that a woman should use such a sacred act as a last resort for money.

And someone please edit the title so that the spelling is correct.

Taxing? Honestly, how easy will it be to simply add taxes to prostitution? It's already an underground business, adding taxes will simply promote it to still be done behind the backs of cops. Either way it works, we still having the police force and government going out of their way to regulate it. Either have cops scouting the streets to arrest the people involved or have our taxes go to helping educate the prostitutes and help control STD's and make sure the business is properly taxed. So we really will probably not profit off those taxes. Either way, whatever the governments decide to do will take tremendous effort on everyone's part.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

In Amsterdam where prostitution is legal, only 10%-30% (I forget the figure) of prostitutes have papers. That means that the government hardly gets any revenue from prostitution, and they clearly will never be able to control it.

I think the Swedish system works best. Since women are always the victims in prostitution, the government punishes the customers. That way, severe risks are given to customers and, theoretically, the entire business would become obsolete. The government has a much better control this way because prostitutes travel, not the customers. However, like everywhere in the world, prostitution will always exist no matter what the circumstances. It's sad, and it really sucks, but what can you do

It is already legal here, in New Zealand.

On Topic:

They cannot make it illegal. People will still do it. There is no way they could possible stop it, as it would be impossible to catch them doing it.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

Eh, if we all had the mentality that anything is fine as long as it doesn't affect us, our world would be chaos. We're supposed to strive for the betterment of mankind...In my humble opinion.

Yet chaos affects us in adverse ways. Your argument falls down there.

Personally i think it should be legal, but im not a fan of selling your very body off for a mere bit of pocket money. i mean who knows what diseases you'll get etc, i've heard and seen some pritty horrible stories relating to such. :|

Chaos has its advantages?

Yes, it should be, but regular tests should be required, and a license should be needed. And yes, while it's sacred, who gives a [bleep], people will get it anyways, so tax it crazy.

Yesss.

Ohh yes please.

:twss:

It goes both ways.

Really it should only be 'legal' in a building (brothel), where the 'prostitutes' are checked for stds every week or something.

Anything outside of this should be illegal.

meh i'm only 14 :|

You, being a frequent defender of Christianity (Is God real thread), believe that sex should not be used as an act of bonding between a man and woman who love each other, but rather to make money? Hm...

well for 14 you've got your eye on the ball. having check-up's would benefit both our health and the brothel part saves having you drive down a quiet ally, almost hoem then BAM! prost' is next to your window with a sign saying "$5 Good Time"
