Hawks
--> On DevART So I've been working on this some, I think the shading's pretty good so far, but I have no idea what to do on the sky, grass, beach/water, sun, and the rock... Also some advice on his hair would be helpful, it looks weird and I can't figure out how to do it... sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
Skull
Lower saturation on those colours  After that try working on perspective, it's difficult but it's one of the things I'd say are most important. The shading is decent though. Try not to over dither though, I did/do that a lot and it ends up making it look less real and sort of spotty. Unoalexi
Gah! My eyes, it burrnzz us! :wall: The Seven Comandments: 1. Thou shall not use the shoddy base colors given to thee in paint. Use the Edit-Color function instead. 2. Thou shall not dither unless dithering is needed. Legs are like cylinders and not like tables! 3. Thou shall not simply stick the sun in a corner. The sun is an orb, not a pie wedge. 4. Thou shall not disregard perspective. Objects in front are closer than those far away, and I don't think you want your guy to be eleven stories tall, as he appears to be. 5. Thou shall not disregard anatomy either. If you are new to pixeling, it is best to start with inanimate objects. If not, there are plenty of human-anatomy tutorials on your Deviantart. 6. Thou shall add textures to every object they see. Leave no blank spaces of color, unless you want things to appear flat. The sun burns with a scorching flame, the oceans churns with waves, and grasses sway in a gentle breeze. 7. Thou shall remember that the color of the sky grows lighter and less-saturated towards the horizon. NOTE:Disregard this if you weren't aiming for realism. Nadril
:wall: Don't use gimp for pixel sigs. Try Graphics Gale So you can go pixel by pixel. Do you ever have any useful advice? GIMP is fine for pixel sigs. Anyways, hawkxs, you need to pick a much better color scheme. Your current one is god awful and hurts my eyes. People do not look like that in real life! Also you still need to learn to draw, you're drawing the exact same as you always do.

Star.
Do a bit of anatomy practice first (on paper). Look at a few references on the internet and practice hard before attempting a signature. That dude's leg is broken. I go to life drawing classes yet I still suck at proportions >.< Work on the perspective. As things get furhur away, they get smaller and closer together. Just google perspective for some examples. Try a different theme. The classic sitting on the shore is a bit unoriginal. Don't put the sun in the corner, reminds me of how a little kid draws. Also the tide shouldn't be that straight, at least a little bendy to show the waves and the froth needs to be bubbled up to the max. But you have added textures in yet. The size is a little awkward, 300x200? Atleast do 300x150. What I can give you credit for is shading. Though the pixels are visible, at least you have a light source :) The colour... well it's been mentioned before, too unreal. Don't use the colours off the pallete (unless its black or white). Double click a colour to get into the editing option. I think I the colours around this general area (and the bar on the right) are good to use for realism: (Maybe the sqaure should have been bigger) But y'know, it's not like I'm an expert or something. Just keep at it kid ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢

No clue though. Why were they denied? Probably because they're all incredibly choppy and low quality? Stop complaining. There is nothing artistic I can criticize about a cutout and I'm not about to point out every single point where you screwed up at. And when you say things like Idk lol... dsavi
You have some serious problems with perspective there. Wow, that's something new... And why can't people give friendly advice, instead of trying to make people lose interest in painting? Oh well, it's an okay start. hiimben
NOTE:Disregard this if you weren't aiming for realism. It IS an RS sig :P The inspiration for the sig is no excuse for a lack of skill. It's the job of the artist to make a realistic or whatever they're going for approach to the runescape idea. You can make a beautiful piece about runescape, but the subject doesn't take away from the realism. You still need to understand and use the basic principles of art. I was really just saying that one needs to be hardened against strong criticisms in order to succeed in art. Not everyone will love what you do, and thus you must learn to let the cruelest comments go because, after all, you can't change people. If you get angry about it, you're just letting them control your emotions. Here be dragons ^ Dragon of the Day
