Dragon Claw's Demise

Dragon claws, yea the glitchy, overpowered spec weapons. The ones that can hit through walls and 10 squares away. The ones...ehh enough of that...onto my point ;)

Today, the 12th of January dragon claws are 7.2m medium price on the g/e and 30m+ on street. When first released they were sold on g/e for an average price of around 150k-200k. They have risen 550% only in the last month.

So, with all this hype around them they are bound to crash sooner or later. Right? Well I thought that too until Jagex made tormented demons harder and uncampable. So my question is do you think claws will crash and if so, when?

I personally think they will crash within the next 2-3 months and maybe drop down to 2-3m on g/e. That is if no changes are made to them.

Drop the whole 'glitch hitting through walls 10 squares away' thing, it's just the delayed animation of claws. It's actually a disadvantage, as it lets you see you being attacked before your actually hit.

I suspect they'll stabilize at 60m+, then slowly fall down and level out around 30m, similar to most high priced items. It is currently the best melee spec weapon in the game, beating AGS.

And the nerf myths are lies, for the record. Tested, disproved.

Okay, I see where your coming from on the delayed animation but, for example have you ever seen those people with claws camping by the g/e shortcut? They do that because they can attack you right before and while you are in the tunnel with the claws spec, I can't say i've seen any other weapon do that.

Yes, I've seen that many times. It's due to the delayed animation; they have already attacked and ran towards you, with the game registering their hits, but because the animation freezes you (similar to rune crossbow), it seem as if they are attacking you from a distance.

even merchanters have trouble buying them. with claws exceeding to 3a plate, its constantly rising in street price and making it a lot harder for buyers. i wouldn't expect a crash yet. or maybe none at all if it stabilizes eventually.

as for the nerf. i don't believe jagex even touched them. its been working fine since the release date.

They should keep going up to like 30m on GE... I don't ever see a major crash happening; there are so many people that want them.

Perfect target for clan merchers :?

I know a clan that has about 70+ claws and one member having 23 :twss:

they said they'd dump at 50m ge. But they might do it at 30-40m.

(they got claws from soloing tormented demons and promised, as a group, to keep all the claws they got.)

You indeed are...

Wrong. When someone camp right there, by clicking the other person on the other side before they go through the ditch, the attacker is allowed to attack instanly. You can use this on any weapon, not just the dragon claws.

The dragon claws in my opinion will stop around 20-30 Mil. They are only useful ko, not attacking. Trust me, I got one from demon drop. The reason they are so wanted is because of:

1.) PvP hot item!

2.) Merchants!

Not only is the wanted % is high, but the supply % is low too. Why? The tormented demons are tedious to kill... if you're unlucky, you can get pile by 4 demons >_<. So overall, demand high and supply low cost the price of d claws to climb up the hill very fast.

By far, SG is a better weapon choice ;).

well its obvious its gradualy rising in price to a medium people are willing to pay, and at the same time the supply is getting bigger and bigger leading to an eventual balance and it wont be untill then before you can even think of a fall in price.

Uncampable? Have you TRIED demons since the update? or did you just assume to go with what everyone else says? Demons are still campable, just slightly harder and requires more skill.

The trick is to find a spot where you can kill one, and when the 2nd one comes onto you (if it does) , know where to run to to 'shake' him off. Trust me, it's still campable.

As for d claw price, i reconed ~ 5m on release so i'm not sure yet :$ I'll be keeping my set a while.

My opinion is that they will not even stabilize until 40M. From there on I don't really know but I am sure as hell that they will *NOT* crash before half a year has passed.

The GE tunnel bug has been like that since day 1 of PvP worlds -- I pked about 5m worth there. It's like doing a Skill Cape -- the hits don't show up cause you can't do anything at that time until that skill cape emote is done.

Dragon Claws never end up reaching street price before crashing. It's really hard to say, but I'm guessing 15m. 20m at most. I said before -- it has the speed over godsword, but it just doesn't have ko power. You spec with it, you're reduced to scim probably for koing (most people don't seem to be man enough to risk whips, and yes there is a point to it). With a godsword, you can still hit high after you spec, and if you're using scim for main weapon, you can gs to ko. Not to mention, in god wars GS can give you immunity to a god follower during kc, +8 prayer, and you only need 1 weapon. The only boss claws really would exceed gs is corp beast.

It's just not worth it, imo.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

I think it's funny that the topic name you made today on all days... Today is the most it has ever increased in the Grand Exchange.

He could of posted on any day and you would have put the exact same message...

I think it should be against the rules to post misleading titles here on Tip.It. By naming this thread "Dragon Claw's Demise," it's as though you want the majority of people to freak out before they even read the thread and go sell their claws so the price begins to fall. This just sounds like an attempt to price manipulate through rumors if you ask me.

I don't even own Dragon Claws, but I see what one idiot can do to a massive amount of players if they word a thread the correct way. (Or, in my opinion, the INcorrect way.)

You know, it's too hard to speculate IMO,

the claws could be a new AGS, as well as just become another dragon weapon for the simple reason that although it has an amazing special, it's stats suck...

And also, you could never tell in RuneScape, I can tell from personal experience that RuneScape has timed fashion, some lasts for ages, like the still very populer skillcapes, some last a long while and then stop, like the dragon chains, and some are populer for less than 2 weeks, like the dragon platebodies...

Its not speculation, its not *could*

They are here, you know the power it has, you know how hard it is to obtain them, etc etc...

You are talking as if it still needs to come, but jagex has told us what the spec will be like.

Unless Jagex nerfs them, I see no reason why there would be such a "demise".

They will be just like any other good item that is released, more are brought into the game, people buy, prices eventually falls as more and more people finally get to have them.

I myself did WGS just to try for the drop. Ended up getting a pair after only about 15 kills. I have no intention to ever sell, simply because I enjoy a new weapon to spec. I never PvP, and simply enjoy using the spec for my slayer tasks and the occasional CW night. In fact, until I could even begin to think about selling them, I would wait until I didn't have to have 50m worth of junk to do so...

Claws will follow the same path of any (useful) items on the G.E. They will crash eventually, due to merchants, but that is still a long way off.

The way it will happen:

- Claws will continue to rise until they reach the "market price" of junk traders.

- Once it reaches "market price" The claws will all suddenly be sold in G.E. making the G.E. price skyrocket.

- Merchants will see this and start to buy them pushing the price up very high (Anyone recall the ZGS [bleep]e to 60m?)

- One or a few merchants will start to dump them at very high prices, this leads to panic, everyone tries to sell.

- The price in G.E. cant keep up with the speed of people selling for lower prices, people start to junk trade them for lower prices.

- G.E. Stops being used for selling and they become Junk trade only with a super high G.E. price.

It will take months if not longer for them to finally settle down to a natural price. Think how long GS's have been out in the game, and their more common, and STILL not stable? I wouldn't count on anything being stable with these for a long time either.
