January 15, 200917 yr After reading an article that bursts of methane were found on mars, it made me think, if life was found on mars, do you think the government would cover it up? ITS A CONSPIRACY I TELL YOU! Quit Runescape 30th May 2006.Thanks to Hawkxs for my signature :)
January 15, 200917 yr I doubt it. There is too much coverage for anything such as life being found to be covered up, unless of course a Government found it first. I'm thinking Transformers now, with the snippet they had on another planet with life being found. :P ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)RIP Michaelangelopolous
January 15, 200917 yr They did find life forms on Mars, although it was rather frozen. What? No way! I'm pretty sure you're just talking about what looked like fossilized bacteria in martian meteorites. But I don't want to go among mad people!Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."
January 15, 200917 yr What motive would one government have for covering up findings of extra-terrestrial life when this has been such a prime area of research for so long? More importantly, what makes you think all governments would cover this up? Keep in mind that the United States are not the only ones making progress in space research. If life of any "intelligent" capacity had existed on Mars, we likely would have observed it long ago. If we were to find life on Mars, there is a good chance that it would be along the lines of microscopic organisms and bacteria -- certainly not a discovery worth "covering up." Here is an interesting link on possible fossils of early microscopic organisms on Mars: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap960807.html (Note that these are fossils, that is to say, even if these organisms do constitute life, we have no evidence that they still exist on Mars.)
January 15, 200917 yr The only reason they ever could cover it up would be for every government on the planet to agree to cover it up, and everyone hates each other so that ain't gonna happen. If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person.
January 15, 200917 yr What if they have already found life on Mars? And maybe just don't wanna tell us ;) ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!

You mean the 'bacteria' that actually turned out to be lumps in the gold covering which scientists put there to help with the imaging process? Seriously, they weren't bacteria nor fossils. If they were, you would have heard about it. I don't think I could predict what would happen if we found life on a neighbouring planet. It's such a crazy situation anything could happen. ~ W ~

January 15, 200917 yr What if they have already found life on Mars? And maybe just don't wanna tell us ;) Maybe there's an entire civilization. And they sent astronauts to Earth to found NASA and study us. *Twilight Zone music*
January 15, 200917 yr Government(s) would probably try to cover it up but it would get leaked eventually. Then we would wipe out said life and colonize mars. Orthodoxy is unconciousnessthe only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.
January 15, 200917 yr I for one think we need to make peace among ourselves and fully explore our own planet before going off finding new things. But thats just me.
January 15, 200917 yr I don't see any reason to cover up such a discovery. It would probably be one of the most celebrated, publicised discoveries of the last 50 years.

Culture shock. But that would go more for advanced extra terrestrials. Bacteria, I don't think anyone'll much care. Until we realize that means advanced life is totally plausible. Hm. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
January 16, 200917 yr You mean the 'bacteria' that actually turned out to be lumps in the gold covering which scientists put there to help with the imaging process? Seriously, they weren't bacteria nor fossils. If they were, you would have heard about it. I'd like to see your sources. McKay and co-workers applied a very thin coating of gold and palladium. Sometimes this coating can obscure or change surface features. McKay and his co-workers tested for these kinds of artificial features by examining other rock samples besides ALH 84001 that had been treated exactly the same as the ALH 84001 samples with the bacteria shapes. McKay and co-workers did not see the bacteria-shaped features on the other samples, and did not see them on samples of ALH 84001 without carbonate mineral globules. The found that the gold-palladium coating did leave a very fine cracked surface on the samples, but much smaller than the bacteria-shaped objects. So, they conclude that the bacteria shapes in ALH 84001 were not accidental products (artifacts) of sample handling and preparation. Source: http://www.lpi.usra.edu/lpi/meteorites/life.html Nobody is claiming to have found martian bacteria. We very well may have found fossils of Martian bacteria, however.

January 16, 200917 yr I love how government critics downplay the strength of the government on the country saying it is weak and poorly run and then turn around and say it has the capabilities to cover up a massive interplanetary discovery possibly costing millions of dollars, all to cover up an alien race discovery. And for what reason? You can't have such a massive undertaking such a huge secret that not a single word is uttered outside of the people involved. Believe it or not, people willl want recognition from generations to come for being part of one of the biggest discoveries in the last few centuries. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers.
