What are some random things you've seen in RS?

I went into the Lumbridge basement and offered to kill the dragon for him and he gave me two Skill Lamps.

Anyone else find some odd stuff like this?

That's not odd...

That's part of the reward for Learning the Ropes quest...

Ignorance is bliss... for the ignorant. For the rest of us it's like a headache that refuses to leave us alone.

(I'm sorry, but the blatent ignorance of the OP on the reason behind the guy giving out the two exp lamps just put this into my head and I felt I had to share it.)

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

There are only 10 types of people

in this world: those who understand

binary and those who don't.

This statement is false.

something about herring on tree monty python reference...

Right. Use herring > tree. "This is not the mightiest tree in the forest. Exception, a strong yew (example, south of Lumby, the grappling yew). Standard response for that is "nothing interesting happens."

However, use herring > Grand Tree, yields another Monty Python quote: "It can't be done."

You have to be pretty deep into the "Quest for the Holy Grail" to get the reference though. Just a silly little programmer's Easter Egg. Makes life interesting.

To everyone who is being ignorant about this topic: I completed Learning The Ropes on Tutorial Island. Therefore, I had no reason to go to the basement in Lumbridge. And before anyone say's "Well, you should have read Tipit's Quest Database", anyone who needs a quest guide for the freakin' tutorial is an idiot.

To everyone else: I'd heard about the Herring in a tree thing, never found anything about it though.

Let's just put it like this:

Everything in RuneScape is random.

So if I click somewhere and walk, it is random? No.

Why would you be an idiot for reading about something you haven't done before?

It's not that they're an idiot for that, but for needing a tutorial for a tutorial.

Hehe, this is like Jagex telling half of Runescape players that they're [developmentally delayed]. Sort of. That's how I interpreted it. :P

Runescape is why I support abortion.

I had a feeling there would be someone who would reply something like this..

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

Jagex included the reward for fairness. Some new players at the time of the King Green Dragon version of Learning the Ropes got the lamps as experience rewards. Then Jagex removed access to the Green Dragon version of Learning the Ropes and reset the initial starting spawn location of a new account back to Tutorial Island, the way things were before. Because of this, newer accounts, as well as accounts created before the Dragon version of Learning the Ropes, couldn't get to see the cutscenes or obtain the lamps. Thus, to be fair, Jagex lets players claim the reward and see the cutscenes even if the account went through the Tutorial Island version of Learning the Ropes. Jagex only did this to be fair, not to be utterly random and illogical. I don't see why you'd be complaining about XP lamps and cutscenes, whether or not the reward is the best thing in the world. It's also a possibility that Jagex is planning on fixing up the Dragon version of Learning the Ropes, so they left it there. But in the original version of the Dragon quest (and, before that update, there was no "Learning the Ropes" quest, Tutorial Island did not count as a quest) did actually make you do a few things before you get the rewards. This is little more than another example of how video games don't follow real world logic. I don't see you complaining about how random it is that you magically come back to life after dieing, and that your body disappears but a gravestone builds itself and buries your items for safekeeping :?. There's countless random things in RuneScape, simply because it's a game, and not the real world :o
