Ive been watching the price of granite for a while trying to decide if it was smart of me to bank my supply to 99 summoning at 11 gp for each 5 kg chunk of granite.

 

 

 

My theory is this...

 

 

 

Most if not all of the current granite on the GE was produced when the price was at 11k each. At the time it was worth something like 2-3 mil an hour to mine granite. Now that its at 200 gp each nobody wants to bank it, they'd rather just power mine. So no new granite is being supplied and people with high summoning are slowly using the current GE stock up. It cant be bought in a shop like raw beef, and banking it is not worth the hassle....until the price rises again. So expect the price of it to slowly rise until its worth harvesting, like when the supply runs out.

 

 

 

So is the supply gone for the moment? is nobody producing new granite? am i wrong on everything? or are we running out.

You cannot run out of a raw material, especially one that is so easily obtainable.

Mmmorgan, it's all supply and demand. If supply dies, demand will cause the prices to rise, therefore creating more supply.

Im saying the price will get up to like 600 each b4 pole are willing to harvest at the rate that summoners demand. look at unicorn horns or wolf bones, both very easy to get but high lvls people would rather buy than harvest.

 

 

 

u really think a lvl 137 training to 99 summon will go out to that horrible desert and harvest 38k granite...no he will pay 600 each. thats nothing compared to 4k each crimson for bursting.

it's also fairly easy to get granite. I mine a full load of the largest blocks, also filling up a terrorbird, and tele out. repeat until bird dies, and then get ready to chisel the hell out of those things. you get ten small blocks per one large one, so you more time chiseling than mining

dang i had like 5k 5kg granite too...

Well granite was ~700 each before you were able to chisel them into smaller pieces. Now you can get (10?) of those from each granite.

38k Granite? Who in their right mind would use Granite Lobsters all the way to 99? I switched to Spirit Dags at 83, Swamp Titans at 85, Wolpertingers at 92, Iron Titans at 95, and now Pack Yaks at 96. However, when I needed 500g granite, it was pretty soon after the second Summoning update, and it was hard to get on the GE, and you couldn't chisel large blocks down to size, so I mined a good bit myself, resulting in my having 86 instead of 85 mining.

How does a renewable product run out?

Yes, it's easy to get. But at a price of 80 gp each (or whatever), who in their right mind mines and banks it nowadays? Most of the granite today is indeed from when it was 10k per 5kg block.

 

 

 

The only counter argument you can throw in, is that with thise 5kg blocks, you can mine them faster than before.

 

 

 

But even considering that, I think it's possible to see them going to like 300gp each again. On the other hand, that would mean that each 5kg block you mine, nets you 3k if you would chisel them yourself.

 

Hmm.

I understand the point that you are trying to make, but it doesn't make sense to make Granite Lobsters till 99. Once you can make Swamp Titans, the extra cost in shards makes lobsters more expensive even if you got the granite free.

 

 

 

Now, if your theory is correct, then granite may be a good item to speculate on because the prices would be going up once the current glut is depleted.

 

 

 

But, as everyone else has said, granite is easy to come by now so there probably won't ever be a shortage of granite again.

One leaving trip gives 280 per person so the supply is still entering. The summoners stop when they get the swamp titans. Thus they cheap.

 

 

 

People arnt idiots who pay too much cash for something thats as easy as that to get. You dont need that' much of it until you can create something better. The supply is evidently enough as enough people bank something when they done.

 

 

 

It was worth more before as it was hard to get but with 10 pieces a block its just too easy. Get a tortoise out and you got 460 pieces in ONE TRIP. You really dont need that many of them.

I was buying 500 for granite lobster pouches.

 

 

 

I had to wait a while, but I did get my 500 pieces of granite.

 

 

 

It wont run out, it might just be hard to buy for a while.
