^This poster sums it up nicely. ^

As for some fashion being expensive, it's because designers spend time designing their lines, and they need to make money somehow. And of course, the brand itself makes the clothing more expensive, but there is not way you can get the "same thing" of a $200 article for $50 unless it's on sale.

It depends kinda. Some brands use premium raw materials and are produced in Italy/Japan/Germany/etc. But the ones mass produced in Taiwan/China/India/Indonesia/etc., you're just paying for the brand name on those.

I hate all those clothes you get at American Eagle, Holister, etc, people used to go so nuts over them it pissed me off to the point i hate them.

Yeah, tbh that's one reason why I avoid buying shirts from AE/Hollister/Aero. They have their names plastered on those things like crazy. That's why I love Guess tees. At the most you'll never see GUESS on it, but rather have a small imprint of a red 'G' and they have really nice prints.

As a general question, you don't have to answer if you don't want, how much of your income goes towards your clothes? I'm just curious on exactly how expensive that kind of dress is since most of it is somewhere near the top of clothing in Australia which the 'general public' can get their hands on.

I spend about 10% of what I have left after taxes on clothes. That's a bit less than a quarter of the money I have left after the staple basic expenses like rent, food, transportation and the internet. I think it's also worth pointing out that in Finland we have to have separate jackets and shoes and extra clothes for winter.

As for the exact expenses my t-shirts usually cost about 25 and I have three pairs of jeans all of which costed 120-150. I make a little over 20 per hour at my regular job so I guess the clothes don't seem that expensive to me. Also, I don't think any other brands that I mentioned except for Armani Collezioni can be considered "top of clothing", more like good quality and designs with some thought put into them for a somewhat high price. The average AC clothes cost about five times as much as the stuff I buy more regularly, but I make 3000+ per month on vacations and I like to reward myself for the hard work with a nice cardigan or a couple of really good looking t-shirts every now and then.

I think I was a bit irritable at the time when I responded to your post, I had just trained hunter for two hours. -.- Sorry if I came off a bit angry.

Don't worry about not noticing that I'm Finnish, it's pretty nice when people don't immediately realize from my posts that I'm from a non English speaking country. ::'

I have loads of crappy clothes at the moment, but I can't really afford to go out and get good ones. I have one pair of amazing jeans that I wear quite a lot, some brown three quater lengths that are good and then a couple of good t-shirts and polo's but other than that most of my clothes are hand me downs. =/

Meh. Aeropostale's pretty cheap (I guess...) and have sorta nice clothes. Got my jeans there.

The only clothing store I actually kinda have fun in is Men's Express. They have pretty frequent sales of up to 50% off (making the clothes much more affordable for me), and some really cool clothes.

I'm getting some new clothes soon. Particularly shoes. I'm thinking those cool slip-on moccasins that've caught on lately. Maybe I'll go to my grandparents. Maybe one of their grandparents' friends still live on the reservation or something, and know how to make actual moccasins. That'd be awesome. I could shoot arrows into invading whites all day, and they'd never hear me.

I was planning to buy another pair of white Jordans until this caught my eye

@ the OP:

You're logic is sound. getting 60% off is much better than 0% off. Unfortunatly when 60% off costs just as much as 0% somewhere else for an equally cool shirt...you still end up getting gyped.

My style is my own. I do not view enthusiastic/styled wardrobes as gay. Caring about how you look does not make you less of a man.

I usually buy stuff from Kohls.

I get my pants, shirt, shoes, socks...everything there.

The only exception being my tees, which I buy from Hot Topic.

Umm, if you're trying to imply that I only shop at limited stores, you're wrong. The ones I mentioned are the ones I usually buy from, yes. But I browse a hell of a lot more stores than that.

Saw it in a store called Stoneridge. I think the store is only in Canada. But you can try stores that carries Adidas skate shoes, they should have those.

I hope they make more in that series, preferably some that don't say SLAYER on them.

Personally, I try to stick to light/bright sneakers. If I want to wear black shoes, I'd wear leather. It's just really hard for black sneakers to stand out. The downside is that white sneakers get dirty like crazy.

I prefer my white sneakers to be dirty, actually. I've got a white pair now, and when I first bought them they were whiter than John McCain. Every step I took I saw a bright flash below my vision and just felt pretentious. I ran around some dirt later on to darken them a bit. I never did understand the whole "keep the shoes as pristine white as possible, no dirt, no nothin'" approach, especially when people buy pre-destroyed jeans.

Eh, I'd like my shoes to be less dirty, but I don't much mind. It's just that my dirty means torn up as well...

A towel / cloth soaked in hot water will sort that out very quickly.

In the last 5 years I've never found 1 pair of good looking black shoes, where I live they're either worn by losers / geeks etc or immigrants (not meant in a bad way), they simply don't look good with pretty much any style of clothes unless they're dress shoes.

Lol, here it's worn by high school kids mostly. most catholic high school requires dress shoes but lets kids get away with black sneakers.

and my white shoes aren't horribly stained. i clean it often, but it's impossible to keep it from fading

I don't care about my clothes.

People make fun of me for not wearing jeans. So, I go up to them and say "Hey, ignorant fool, may the clouds of intelligence precipitate Albert Einstein's dark blood on your putrid unintelligent hypocrital soul."

People here like to copy cat Americans.

Abercrombie/Aeropostale/American Eagle/Hollister.

I dislike the stores, and the fact that if you don't have a giant ABERCROMBIE on your shirt you are immediately a loser. :|

I mostly wear my trusty old loose fitting jeans, and one of the 8 shirts i always have (which one is AM) and my South Pole jacket. Most of the shirts are not from a brand store, i buy them if they look cool, but i love the "graphic" and "cool" shirts, if you know what i mean.

i love those shirts

It's also ironic that all those clothes are made here and they sell them to you for alot more than it's worth.
