January 30, 200917 yr Musky me and my sister just got perm banned recently, we did the penguins got 15 points heard about the glitch but didn't do it because... 1. It's cheating. 2. It was fixed. We got banned for bug abuse which is rule 4 and they said they will be reveiwing this offence on the 2nd of feb.
January 30, 200917 yr Think I got banned for getting 15 points of penguins.. Only time will tell mod poopy did say she wouldn't have the kids who clicked a couple times banned. i think you mean mod poppy         1100 total achieved 03/02/09 880thousandth to reach it :P1200 total achieved 29/09/11 1.23millionth to reach it :P
January 30, 200917 yr Almost everyone including my friend who did penguins before glitch was fixed is banned now. They have to wait till Feb 2 for further investigation. So unfair because many of these people including my friend couldn't even use the glitch or were smart enough not to. Hopefully they'll see their mistake and get rid of his permanent ban. :( Pyramid Plunder Guide Tip.it Forum Rules Adventurer's LogThanks to Cowboy14 for the awesome sig!
January 30, 200917 yr Almost everyone including my friend who did penguins before glitch was fixed is banned now. They have to wait till Feb 2 for further investigation. Quite possibly the worst way to go about doing things from a community standpoint, and the best thing to do from a programming standpoint. Still you have to wonder if they couldn't have devised a way to better handle this situation. Like take a copy of the current XP of all accounts in question, log them, and ban them after further investigation. Now these paying members are going to be losing 2+ days of membership without compensation on the busiest time of the game week--the weekend.

Also, lady_ninane, I know of a good 30+ people that haven't been able to play now properly for over 130 days, including myself. Jagex Don't care. RIP Michaelangelopolous
January 30, 200917 yr Well, a lot of people were banned. I gained a lot of ranks in a few skills in which I gained 0xp. I even gained 2 overall ranks, so that means 2 people with an overall rank higher than 390 got banned. Ouch, lol. Sucks for them, but they should know better to not abuse a glitch.
January 30, 200917 yr Also, lady_ninane, I know of a good 30+ people that haven't been able to play now properly for over 130 days, including myself. Jagex Don't care. If you're referring to the ongoing lag investigation in the Tech Support forum on the RSOF, I doubt they'd even allow it to continue if they didn't care. Honestly though, now the players have more weight behind their opinions that it's NOT their ISP ever since Google came out with their throttle detection program (you can google it). People should probably look into running it and posting the results on that thread... Anyway, majorly off topic. Regardless if it was a temporary ban or not, honest players are losing money--REAL money, not pixleated gee pees--from not being able to play.

But i think jagex can check how many penguins i found, which was only 5!!!!! i couldn't go to port tyras because i didn't finish regicide :wall: 2nd troll to 840+ post count.

Hopefully they'll see their mistake and get rid of his permanent ban. :( Turns out Jagex has already started working on it today. My friend had sent in an appeal and he says his account has been unbanned now! \ I wonder if this is because there was no evidence he did anything wrong (which he didn't) and that he had no former blackmarks. EDIT Found this Mod Post Mod Jon H Jagex Mod 30-Jan-2009 23:50:35 Hello everyone, As you may be aware, there was a recent bug whereby some players were able, unfairly, to gain unusually-large rewards from penguin spotting. We have taken action against a number of players who gained more rewards than normal as a result of this bug. All offences committed, and actions taken by Jagex as a result, are private matters between Jagex and the account holder. They are not suitable for discussion in a publicly-visible forum, either by the player concerned or by another player posting on their behalf. The correct course of action for the affected player to take is to use the Appeal Bans & Mutes system from the Help menu. We are not going to 'name and shame' players, nor will we disclose what action has been taken against any specific account. However, we would like to clarify several points: 1) Offences were all applied manually. This was not an automated mass-ban. We don't release details about exactly how we catch people cheating, as these could help would-be cheaters avoid detection. However, we can say that every single player who has had action taken against them as a result of this incident was dealt with manually. 2) No-one has had action taken against them just because they happened to be in the area while other players were exploiting the bug. We do not punish players just for being present while bug abuse is taking place. 3) All players affected by this have received an inbox message to explain what has happened. If you are one of these players and you have not yet checked your inbox on the account in question, please do so. 4) Offences will be reviewed manually. We will manually review every single account against which we have taken action today. 5) All offences should be considered temporary until the review has taken place. Following the review, it is possible that some players may be permanently banned for this. It is likely that some of the players currently banned may be allowed back into the game with no further action. Finally, we would just like to remind you once again that discussing this issue on the forums is not permitted because it concerns private account details. Threads about this issue may be locked with no warning.
