Might want to turn anti-aliazing off before you take the picture. ;)

Dunno. It has something about it. Some cool white glow-like... glow.

Cool glow? Lol, more like gif-raped lines. :?

It's because it's saved in .gif file format, which makes everything look choppy and low quality. If people would just READ (not skim through) the instructions first before posting their pics, we wouldn't have to tell them they're doing it wrong.

Viral, you'll have to take another screenshot, crop, save as ".png", then upload again.

original was png (i only ever save as png or psd) :wall: some error with loading or what not, i retook it :P and

Didnt even notice it before you said it. #-o

On the plus side, I found out how to make them transparent in photoshop without looking it up anywhere. :anxious:

Ha, I just found out that I had botched the URL by reading your post.

But otherwise, that's great. :)

Thanks mods I lost all my record of my 99's GF

When will the first version of the Tip pic be ready? Just asking, no hurry ;)

Due to my epic stats, I have now started WGS (but I still hate spoilers).

How do you make an image transparent (if you can) in Paint.NET?

How do you make an image transparent (if you can) in Paint.NET?
[hide=How to make a image transparent!]

  •
[*:1c6sep6b] Download Paint.Net for free from this link:
http://www.getpaint.net/download.html

[*:1c6sep6b] Open up Paint.Net, and Open up your picture, which should already have the white back ground, and be down to the size you want, so it looks like this when opened:

fortipit1.jpg

[*:1c6sep6b] Click on the little button that looks like a wand, and set the tolerance bar shown to 25% :

fortipit2.jpg

[*:1c6sep6b] Click on the background of your picture (The White Area), with the little wand, and the outline of the picture should have little dotted lines round it, moving. If you have any areas that are not highlighted, but are part of the background, then Hold Shift and Left Click that area. The whole image background should have the little dotted lines round it:

fortipit3.jpg

[*:1c6sep6b] Now, just press the Delete Key, and the background should go checkered like so:

fortipit4.jpg

[*:1c6sep6b] Upload your picture and you should get this:

Untitleda-1.png

[/hide]

I learned from this; it probably explains the process better than I'd be able to.

A new version will hopefully be ready within the next few weeks.

Retired Tip.It Crew Mapper.

Just thought I'd write a new guide using Pixlr.com (an online image editing app) to do transparency.

1. Go to Pixlr.com and click "Jump in!"

2. Open your image (via uploading it or using the URL if you have already opened it).

3. Using the Wand tool wand_tool.png, click on the white space behind your character.

It should look like this:

Magic_wand_selection.png

4. Now we need to Invert Selection, do this by going to Edit --> Invert Selection

invert_selection.png

5. Your image should now look like this:

inverted_selection.png

6. The rest is now quite simple, copy your image (Edit --> Copy)

copy.png

7. This part is quite important, go to File --> New (make sure you have copied the image selection).

Tick the boxes in the popup to look like this:

new_image.png

If the popup does not look like this, you have not copied the image selection (Should look like Step 5).

8. You should have your character cropped exactly, and with a transparent background:

final.png

9. Save your image (File --> Save) as a .PNG

svae_image.png

I know that it is not the best method, there are still some white spaces between the arms and so on (but that is quite self-explanatory to get rid of (Wand tool --> Delete)), but at least you do not need to download any complicated software :)
