March 4, 200917 yr Blogs, web logs, online public diaries are maybe an older phenomen than is often believed but one that has only now been widely recognized everywhere. Someone who has the time could find out how many there are believed to be out there, my rough guess is... few millions? There are ofcourse many types of blogs, and while each naturally differs from the others, there are some rules too. These blogs cover all possible topics, and thousands more are made daily. Enough with the yadayada, here are a few points you could discuss.. - What do you think of blogs and their writers - How many blogs do you follow, why and how did you find them - What makes a good blog - What would it take to make you start writing a blog - What do you think of companies sponsoring blog writers (especially fashion bloggers) - HI
March 4, 200917 yr Interesting people write blogs, that people actually read. I have started and given up on many blogs ect, I'm not interesting enough to gain an audience or perserverant (lol is that even a word? :? ) to keep it going for more than a month or so. I mainly use blogs to just keep me informed. I read LittleKuriboh's LiveJournal, a few blogs from YouTubers and that's about it *shrugs* Company sponsored blogs = go die corporate sellout I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. I am an [Ex-Moderator].
March 4, 200917 yr I read blogs with a grain of salt. With that said, I read the blogs in my sig, which are mainly economics or news based. Beer
March 4, 200917 yr Bored people, I started a game one when I was bored one time and haven't looked or updated it since that day It's tough at the top ;)
March 4, 200917 yr I read a few blogs: http://economistsview.typepad.com/economistsview/ (economist blog) http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/ (economist blog, typically criticizing Obama) http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ (fantastic blog about all things politics, by Nate Silver) http://narcosphere.narconews.com/thefield/ (blog about politics, usually focusing on the Drug War) http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/ (economist blog) http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/ (political blog, Sullivan is an Obama supporter that claims to be conservative) http://scienceblogs.com/ (scientific blogs about new research etc) Those 7, usually. Every once and a while I read DailyKos, but for the most part the users there are just twisting certain pieces of evidence to fit their theories, and it's really just a rag of circle jerking. Oh, and I read Matthew Yglesias: http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/
March 4, 200917 yr I tend to stay away from blogs because, to be frank, I don't care about your life. But now blogs are being used as websites and homepages. :| "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
March 4, 200917 yr I'd imagine people like Da_Latios would post blogs. With as many pictures as he posts, he just seems like the type of person. No offense da lat. YOU! ATTEND TET EVENTS! CLICK HERE!
March 5, 200917 yr Dusqi's blog is the only one I read, though not very often. I'm not big into blogs, but I like Dusqi and it's nice to see how he's getting on. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
March 5, 200917 yr I've barely ever read any blogs, it just doesen't seem to have a point. Want to be my friend? Look under my name to the left<<< and click the 'Add as friend' button!Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^
March 5, 200917 yr I read blogs but generally they are more news based then personal. www.joystiq.com www.massively.com www.wow-insider.com www.engadget.com
March 5, 200917 yr I feel that people who run blogs have a lot of time on their hands. I personally can never keep a blog going because I end up slacking off. It usually ends up on page 37 or around there before I realize that I gained 100 levels since then. :(
March 5, 200917 yr Those are like poll questions :uhh: I don't read other people's blogs they bore me. I do read Engadget, Lifehacker, and a couple music blogs I have bookmarked. I've started a few blogs myself none have survived very long.. I think the longest blog that I've keep going was for two months about music.
March 5, 200917 yr I tend to use a blog but its written so its more of a diary. I use them mainly to keep track of what i've done, look back to see if theres anthing that might help and its quite usefull when you suffer depression as it helps (me anyway) me keep track What I've Done (plays linkin park) and to check on any improvements. Popoto.~<3
March 5, 200917 yr Not a case of what kind of people write blogs, but more a case of who doesn't. Most people do it to keep track of goals, progress reports, and things like that. There's plenty of reasons why you should make one... My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
March 5, 200917 yr People who are extremly extroverted and have a lot of spare time on teir hands. Not saying thats a bad thing, I actually spend my time reading a few very interesting blogs.
March 5, 200917 yr People like dusqi It's true, he would... I mainly read blogs like Lifehacker, Art of Manliness, and Schneier on Security I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
March 5, 200917 yr People like dusqi Dusqi's blog is the only one I read, though not very often. I'm not big into blogs, but I like Dusqi and it's nice to see how he's getting on. I should clarify that I just have a livejournal about stuff I do, for online friends and my own gratification. Also because I use it to keep up with other online friends that have them. I am not interesting enough for random people to read about my life. Concerning public blogs, I read two Facebook developer blogs (since I am one), and also a blog by an academic about life as a female science professor, which I recommend to anyone considering academia (or for some reason interested in the politics of being an academic): http://science-professor.blogspot.com/ Edit: With that said, I read the blogs in my sig, which are mainly economics or news based. I completely approve of the LSE podcasts. Universities are giving access to a lot of materials that are very interesting, especially if you are someone that enjoys hearing things rather than reading books (or just want some variety). They're also great to listen to while travelling. Last summer I listened to a series about the history of physics from a university in California which was very interesting.
