this is by far the most annoying thing within the game community right now. so when a random person walks up to you and says hello!, then almost 96.4% of the time the next thing that comes outta their mouth is "wuts ur lvl?" . heres my thoughts on that.

 

 

 

1) why the heck should you even care.

 

2) maybe i dont want to tell you

 

3) stop interrupting what i am working on

 

4) isnt there something more important you can come up with?

 

5) and no i dont care what youre level is.

 

6) and for the love of guthix dont keep asking me!

 

 

 

really it gets so stupid and annoying after the first 2 or 3 people ask you. i think it needs to stop.

I dont think ive every been asked it outside of training a skill in sight, like slayer or combat, and then its usually to start a conversation, this is an online game don't forget.

 

 

 

P.s my pet peeve is made up %'s to seem as though something is fact, at least say 'id guess around 90%'

if i wanted to start a converstaion with someone i would at least think of something more original/important than "lvl?"

 

its has just become so common that its become annoying. maybe try something like: how bout them cowboys? or, im hungry, or how long ahve u been on ?

I just feed them a number with quickchat and respond to anything else they say that's predictable with a "nice" or "cool". It usually gets it into their heads that I don't want to talk, but if something interesting comes up I won't miss out.

 

 

 

Plus it's a lot less effort than ranting about it.

 

 

 

Or you could pretend you're muted and respond with just QC and they'll get annoyed and leave you alone.

I think its alright. They are trying to converse. And there is no way that people say that 94% of the time. Usually, they say it when your doing a skill like mining or smithing, or if your fighting something. Usually people like to ask because they have a higher level and want to be dirtbags about that, or just because they are curious. Its not that annoying compared to some stuff you can find on F2P Fally.

if it bothers you that much and you don't want to use ignore list or change the public chat, why don't YOU ignore them? just concentrate on whatever you're doing instead of what the other guy is saying.

 

 

 

otherwise: i ask peoples level in something all of the time. i can get a pretty decent conversation going after some one asking that. why don't you use quickchat? it's a message allready typed out for you that you can use via mouse or keyboard. it's like heaven for lazy people. and plus you can't lie (like some people do) when you say your skill on quickchat. i think of it like people saying, "what's up?" because chances are you're answer will always be something along the lines of not much.

 

 

 

people haven't heard of the blessings of the ignore list yet. when i see people breaking the rules and i don't like them (never because i ONLY don't like them, they have to break the rules and i don't encourage it) because they're being nasty to me or some one else i report em, tell em, and then ignore em because they'll just try to trash talk you afterwards :lol: .

If you are that anti-social, I suggest you buy some other gaming device such as an x-box where you can guarantee no human contact. I cant see how anyone can play RS without talking. Interaction is what makes the game fun! If it bothers you that much, turn public chat off. Think yourself lucky that they are not abusing you. If this really frustrates you, dont play the game.

actually i dont mind converstaions. and i do prefer conversing instead of dead silence when training. but i get bored of having to do the same conversation over and over and over again with a different person each time.

 

for example: try asking me about football? thats much more interesting than my level. or maybe ask me what my car is, or what i plan on doing during spring break?

What annoys me is when people advise me to cut yews after I tell them my woodcutting level. That's probably the most often reply I get, then the "how long did it take" and "are you member?" replies...

I care because the whole point of the MMORPG genre is improving yourself. What's a better way to find out exactly how good (or bad) you are than comparing yourself with the people you meet in the areas you train?

I have 99 woodcutting. People start annoying me with stupid questions when I tell them my level so I rather not say it. You'll probably understand this, seeing that you got 2 99s.
