November 12, 200916 yr I agree with most except The community is strong, filled with fun, smart mature players. That's silly. Runescape hasn't changed at all. Go back to 2001 and you will see people complaining about stupid noobs/kids. The Runescape Wilderness - Meili's Blog
November 12, 200916 yr Lmfao, you crack me up kid.I don't just go to those places unprepared you know... I treat those places as if I really were "srsbusiness" PKing. The only difference is not losing your items, and not getting drops. I don't care about drops anyway. Well, I'm glad you have a good time there, but if you think that those two are the only differences then I guess that explains your current views on pking (because you have no clue what pking is).

I see where people are complaining about PKing, but some of the ideas cropping up and the sheer insanity of complaining about a game update two years after the fact scares me.
November 15, 200916 yr I got my first set of rune when I was level 45 and I was mining and running around scrapping together the money to it. The player base of younger children has destroyed the game. It was a glorious era, but those days have passed. This has been a thing all to true to me. The young players are a detriment to the community. So much spam and now the ridiculous quick chat. I miss capitalism in Rune Scape. We can only do the best we can to foster kindness towards the ones who show promise. Other than that, set chat to friends and the game is less cluttered. Also everything after the G.E. was instated has caused part of this vacuum that is the current community. The only good thing is the 1000 skill plus worlds. I am currently working on getting into the gates of paradise. The Following Animals Are Communist1. The Ant2. The Cockroach3. The Rabbit4. The Eloi5. The Mouse6. The Penguin7. November 22, 200916 yr I personally beleive that runescape was at its prime at the start of rs2 until it recently came under new management and i say that since it came under new management rs2 is over and rs3 has just begun i am not saying classic was bad but simply rs2 is better (in my opinion) and that the runescape i play today (this goes especially for frees which is more full of beggars spammers and bots then ever before) has been ruined by making the game too easy a prime example is the wilderness ditch if someone wandered into the wildy then it was their own fault there were more then enough signs.Jagex need to lessen restrictions and try to restore the game to its former glory Dragontale78

That way, newbs who don't want to enter the wildy can at the very least unlock some music by standing right by the ditch. Just because the game becomes easy does not mean the game is ruined. I enjoy the game right now, and if it wasn't for all these updates I would never have gotten stats like these, and my incentive for 1000 total would be lost. Speaking of which, if you go on a skill total world, there will be NO beggars, spammers, and bots. January 16, 201016 yr @ to everyone complaining about the community, here's three words: Skill total worlds  I disagree with that. Skill levels have nothing to do with how nice or mean a person is. Tbh I've found that most people who play only in skill total worlds are stuck up people who think every low level isn't worth talking to and they're above everyone else.

January 17, 201016 yr I agree with a lot of the points about the community and economy, I was playing during that age. I understand that Runescape needed to change, but I feel it went in the wrong direction for the older players of Runescape. Advertising it on Mini-clip was a good idea for Jagex, but I think they were only thinking of money, not the players. YES we can go play RSC, but there's barely anyone on anymore... :-( My signature got deleted :( And I lost all the links. Thanks Gandorf61.

It's just when the level 3s do it they don't care if they get banned so they use the auto typer but don't bother to slow down how fast it types so it's a constant wall of spamming in your chat box. The 80-90 level players at least try to make it seem like they aren't auto typing.

January 20, 201016 yr What, are we talking about merch clans now? Simple, they mess up the RS economy, and kill just about everyone except the merch clan leaders. (Remember smoking mils and ppots? Yeeeaaah. -.-) And to boot, they annoy just about everyone with their ge spammers. The only thing in ge more annoying then merch clan spammers is bullroarer spammers.

Will you people stop calling them "merch clans"? They're not "merchants", they're PRICE MANIPULATORS. For god's sake, there's a difference, in case you're too ignorant to know. Merchants don't work in clans, and they don't greatly affect prices or anything. They just buy low and sell high, and there is risk involved for them, and it is a legitimate way of making money since the more money they put/the longer they leave their money before a crash in prices, the greater the reward. Like PvP. Manipulators just gather lots of people and buy up a specific item, driving up the prices like crazy due to the huge lack of supply and great demand. Then, without telling the other members, the leaders just dump all the items they've bought back into the GE, and leave the poor members with worthless items or items worth much less than what they bought it for. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
January 20, 201016 yr Still, I wish both price manipulators and merchanting clans are banned (ESPECIALLY THOSE DAMN AUTOTYPERS). I want peace in the GE, kthx. ;) BlogTrimmed | Master Quester | Final BossBoss pets: Bombi | Shrimpy | Ellie | Tz-Rek Jad | Karil the Bobbled | Mega Ducklings120s: Dungeoneering | Invention
January 22, 201016 yr The year is 2004, and Runescape is about to enter it's prime age when the release of the version we play to date is to come out. The community is strong, filled with fun, smart mature players. Varrock is alive and bustling with traders attempting to sell their santa hats for 200k. Rune Armor is the top standard of armor to wear. A few higher leveled players are showing off their fabled dragon long swords and battle axes, along with their almost bronze looking dragon medium helmets. Along with the bustle of merchants, Varrock is alive with pkers of all sorts. Many people are not even pures, and are just out there for the fun of it. The wild is packed. This is the age where the term "3 hit you" came from. You literally held your breath as you watched your hits display and if you didn't hit enough, you clicked as many food as you could before you were engaged into a fight again. Many people perfected the art of catching your opponent before he ran, so he would be forced to stop dead in his tracks, literally. Magic is rare, and only really available to the wealthy. Many people stand for hours looting the castle in the wilderness's rune spawn. Few teleport out of the wild due to the cost of runes, and the risk of failing your teleport spell. A breed of pures which Runescape has not seen in ages is alive. Tank mages are alive and well. Imagine an incredibly low level wearing full rune casting god spells on you. Some were incredibly deadly! There are no warnings in the game, other then a few signs marked with X's warning you of the wilderness. Warnings were not needed. Players at this time were able to use COMMON SENSE. We managed fine. If you were dumb enough to fall for a trap, you deserved it. The economy of Runescape was a free economy, we traded what we wanted for how much. It evolved around pking. Smithing and mining were in their prime age. Huge profits were made off mining and smithing. Those who worked hard enough to Smith Rune items were Kings and Queens. Draynor village was the center of the economy for selling resources such as lobster certs, coal certs. Runescape 2 was released and was met with mixed feelings by the community. Some loved the new found freedom of easy fast movement of the game, some hated it. The players were given a choice to stay playing Runescape 1 or to move over to Runescape 2. Those who stayed behind were destined to be left in the dust. Runescape 1 today is a graveyard of few players. With the release of runescape 2, Runescape would boom. The new graphics were prime for their time. The community began to swell, however with the wrong type of people. Jagex began advertising on a popular gaming website for younger children called miniclip. This brought in hundreds of younger kids that were not supposed to be on the game of Runescape. However, due to the easy-ness of going around the age 13 rule, tons of little kids were let in. These kids that were too young for the game were taken advantage of by many of the players. Many young kids who lack the simple ability of COMMON SENSE were often leaded into lures that were obvious to most mature players. As the younger player base swelled so did the pockets of Jagex. Younger Children became Jagex's cash cows, therefore, Jagex made the mistake of listening to the immature cries of their younger players. Jagex would dumb down the game. Luring became against the rules. I myself honestly never lured, but I never felt sorry for anyone not smart enough to realize that magic piles of thousands of coins just didn't appear out of no where... ( although I wish they did!) . Home teleport was born which significantly ruined the thrill of adventure in Runescape. Players previously had the thrill of charting the unknown with no source of back up, which now is just a convient click away. The difficutly of quests were dumbed down also. Jagex began releasing many short easy low level requirement quests just to please the younger crowd. Some of the story lines were so cheesy that I just had to stop playing the quest because of my disgust towards it. A ditch was then dug across the whole span of the entrance to the wild for the players who were too oblivious! to realize that they were in a dangerous place! Well gee, really, anyone with half a mind can sense danger when they see A. The Wooden signs with skulls on them. B. The BIG WARNING message that pops up over your screen. And C. players attacking each other and killing each other in the area. Updates were released that greatly decreased the difficutly to raise skills. ( Pest Control is a big example of this) That place , in its prime days was a boiling pot of cocky young children sapping up experience like animals. Many of us veteran players felt betrayed as we had spent hours upon hours training our combat skills other ways. People zoomed to levels that had previously taken us months to get. The younger child base would also cause ( in my opinion I know many on here differ) the biggest loss to Runescape. The younger base of often dumber players that was swelling in Runescape fueled RWT websites. Gold was bought left and right by younger players who were not mature enough to figure out how to legitimately make money in Runescape. Runescape became an uncontrollable zoo of immature kids and scammers and bots. Something had to be done. The zoo was so big that only a nuke would kill them all off, and that nuke would be the destruction of what had fueled runescape for so many years. Free trade, the Wilderness, and staking were taken off and were replaced by bounty hunter. However, this also has been now closed. No longer do the banks flourish with merchants and buyers. The wild no longer flourishes with people, even in pvp worlds. Player interaction, which used to be the heart of Runescape has really died off. Any advantage anyone may be able to take, has now been crushed. Runescape is essentially run like a communist dictatorship government right now. We no longer have a say. I was level 42 when I first got my full set of Rune armor. I worked my hind end off for it by mining coal. By level 50 it was common for many players to have full rune along with a luxury item such as a santa hat. Nowdays in Runescape I see most level 40s and 50s wearing mith... I miss the days of Runescape where mature friendly players roamed the worlds. I miss the hustle and bustle of people buying and selling goods, along with the players interaction that used to go on. This is a story/ rant about what I believe this game has turned into and I miss the old days very much. I hope they will come back someday. Large quotes in hide tags please. ~ Jimmy_Jim yes, the mature players who lured random unknowing noobs into the wilderness to kill them for laughs and bought coins through other people with real money. Yeah, real mature back then.
January 22, 201016 yr yes, the mature players who lured random unknowing noobs into the wilderness to kill them for laughs and bought coins through other people with real money. January 26, 201016 yr eatrunearrow. That was the perfect post. You have summed up my feelings on the move from Runescape to whatever is now. I remember RSC vividly. I only made it to level 53 or so before the move to RS2 but those ~50 levels provided more fun than the few months I've been here since taking a nearly 2 year break. Imagine selling a green mask for 350k nowadays. It was one of the last things I did before RS2 took over. Also, The reason I quit was because of the community. It turned to everyone hating everyone else. Much of that can still be seen even in the posts above mine. The RS players nowadays can never know what it was like back then. Before it was saturated with content. It was probably around the time when 90% of the finnish players left. Those crazy finns. ;)
