runesmithie
Who here still buys lego sets? I was recenlty thinking about spending a few hundred on some bulk piece sets, but decided on a laptop instead (which I'm kinda starting to rethink, since Legos rock  ) Anyways, lately all the sets seem to be mostly specially molded pieces that you really wouldn't use if you were making your own ... thing :S For those not familiar:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LEGOs Sorry How2pk, couldn't resist I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. Necromagus
I *hate* the direction taken with lego roughly since 1999, which is when the commercial tie-ins began. It has really lost it's appeal to me, the way it used to stimulate you to experiment with your own constructions. If I wanted to be told what I can and can't play, I'd be a Playmobil addict. The only modern series I've liked are the 'Designer Sets', that basicly just come with a big heap of parts and a booklet with about a dozen possible models and ideas for a lot more. Those are the only ones that remind me of how the old sets used to stimulate creativity... I do however still buy old sets at conventions/off ebay, since I've been collecting sets of the Knights series from 1978-1998. I have four large castles, about thirty smaller sets, a large crate of unsorted parts and 63 figures besides the ones that belong to the sets I own. My pride and joy is the original castle, complete to the piece, with box and booklet in good condition. runesmithie
that is an old castle o.o My oldest would have to be something in an old space series, I'll try to find the manual, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet =X I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. Bubsa
I was recenlty thinking about spending a few hundred on some bulk piece sets, but decided on a laptop instead (which I'm kinda starting to rethink, since Legos rock  All is not lost ^_^ Hehe, I know nothing compares to the real thing, though. Lego simply rox. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

Lego simply rox. AHA! I used to have that, but forgot the name :D I thought it was unnecessarily hard to get some pieces moved around on it :( I hate most CAD programs :P Nothing can compare to a quick glance for a piece, then deciding on another piece for a quick on the spot renovation :D I might get my webcam out and take a pic of my lego projects if I have time (sadly all my 2x4 blocks are Mega Blox or whatever the name is, but they fit just fine  ) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. -Til_Galind-
Well those are way better then the creations i've designed in the past. I still have my old old old lego bucket somewhere in the attic, though my nephew makes great models out of them. :D Maybe i'll get'em to make some later on and post pictures of them. Pete_the_Viscous
Ahhh Lego. We used to make prisons and death-camps for the little men, with glass walls so that they could be jeered at.... Evil_Elf
Legos went out with my constructive creativity. Really though, its been at least 9 years.
Scruffy5389
Ahhh....legos....... Every afternoon. For years. I was an addict. We have two big boxes with all sorts of pieces from all sorts of different sets in them. When I created something original, I used pieces from every series from the amazons to ninjas to the undersea thingers. I have buccaneers and dark knights and ninjas and astronauts and......monkeys and alligators and horses and dragons and parrots......good times 8) I moved away from it naturally a while ago though. And now, I have to say, the sets I see in stores look pretty pathetic. Like Necromagus said, it's all commercial tie-ins and fancy molded parts that can't be used out of the context they were created for.

vladmoney
Legos used to rock, when i was a kid i used to love them. They let your imagination run wild, i used to love to build with them. Most of my pieces got lost though, and now I have just 1 small box of them. I still love them, but dont play with them anymore. indy500fan
ok, legos are the pwnage. i still play with mine, and just yesterday i built a stand for my playstation (out of bulk blocks, dont use the special ones anymore). ran out of shelf space so i made a tower and set it on top  . i used to be killer into legos, id get the monthly catalog and id sit down with a notebook and write down the name, serial number, and price of all the lego sets i wanted from that issue. then id get the total from the previous issues and add it all together for a grand total. had like $10000 worth of merchandise written down, but i threw the papers away, along with the stack of catalogs (i kept them all  ). the sets i got the most of were the old alien sets, and then a few extreme sports ones, and the sometihng that had to do with digging. cant remember exactly what they were, they are in a bucket some where. i just buy the bulk sets now, get a good amount for $20. made some weird stuff before, i always think they are the awesomest creation ever and then my friends see them and ask me why i still play with legos and look bored. i really like legos though, they are freaking awesome! Its all stashed in my closet, probably never to be seen till i move out, or till i move out and have kids and they play with it. It was fun, but boring fast. Ive just never had a creative thing for lego... Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!
