Party hats - Yellow surpasses green?

If supply rises or falls, how does price raise?

Kthxbye

First of all, the demand curve is only completely flat if the demand is perfectly elastic. Because no demand can ever be perfectly elastic (unless it has an equal substitute, which this does not), the line will always curve at least slightly downward. We both agree that, if the demand curve is sloping downward, the prices will rise when supply falls.

And I lost all respect when you said "kthxbye." You went from an educated person debating with me to an arrogant person having an argument.

It was a joke dude.

Tbh, I was upset when you insinuated I was uneducated, and needed a "class in economics" to begin to speak about it, without even understanding what I was saying.

Hence, you treat me with arrogance, I return it.

I'm done with this convo. You were quick to jump on what I was saying, no real need to continue to point out the inaccuracies in your argument. You wouldn't understand them anyway.

That's low. Really low. I really can't hold an educated argument with someone with this level of respect.

Once again. You flung mud, but didn't want it thrown at you.

There's a difference between telling someone to study up on their economics and making a personal insult to someone's intelligence. I was just fine with you telling me to study economics... I've only taken a year of it, and I still believe my arguments hold water. When you say I won't understand something, though... that's no longer insulting simply knowledge of economics.

The issue I had was not the lack of understanding. The issue was you flat out telling me I was wrong, and insulting me. I did not start that.

The "kthxby" was meant to be taken as a joke, nothing more.

I'm sorry if I was short. I am currently studying for my final Econ exam, which is tmw...

death666blooms, you can find the Edit button in the upper right corner of each of your posts ;)

Why does this warrant a thread? Go away price changing threads.

Not all threads will be of interest to all people. One of the beauties of Runescape is that it is a varied game. A very large part of the game is buying and selling. Some people buy and sell only out of necessity. But others use buying and selling as their primary form of gameplay. To those players, these threads can be quite interesting. But such players might have no interest at all in which 99 cape is the least newby. Grinders may be very interested in that topic. I say ignore the threads that are of no interest to you and read the ones that you find interesting.

well, I honestly don't think that green's are rarer than yellows, or blues are rarer than greens. So the phats actually becoming equal might be a natural thing, even though the GE probably doesn't help with it's sucky system.

I would be very curious about just how many rares really are in the game. Is it thousands? Tens of thousands? There certainly are a lot, but I have no idea precisely how many.

why is it whenever the price of a phat changes, we need a thread about it? :wall:

we should just make 1 thread about phats changing and leave it stickied forever.

Why is it when someone sees a thread he doesn't like, he feels compelled to post in it thus prolonging the thread?

Always love when a few highschoolers learn econ101 and feel the need to spam videogame forums

Actually a lot of people on this forum played this game since the beginning. We are a lot older than you think. The only reason why I still play this game is because I can do some merchanting on this game. For all those that isn't into this kind of stuff, just don't post.

As for those who doesn't think GE screwed the market. Take a look.

Say you have this one item that no one else on the game has (Theoretically), and there is massive demand for it. However, the GE has set a price for it and the price will NOT change unless there is an transaction going through the system. I own this x item, and GE thinks x is only worth 20 gp, when I know I could have sold it for 5 million. I am NOT willing to sell this item because I would be at a loss position. Since I won't sell it, GE won't recognize any fluctuation in the price of this item and it will forever stay as 20gp.

Same with green partyhats, I believe my green phat is worth a lot higher than it is right now, I would wait for it to grow. But the only way for the price to grow is if another person with the green partyhat sells it. With limited number of suppliers selling this, it takes a lot longer for the price to grow because GE sets a cap on the price. So it seems that there is no demand for it when it acctually lack of suppliers selling the hats through GE.

Relax, dude. Did you notice that, as predicted, the GPH made a nice move today?

I am 22, will be turning 23 in September. I just finished my final Econ exam, and will receive my Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Maryland on Friday. I also start my job as a contract specialist for the United States Navy, at the Patuxent River Naval Air Base on July 20.

I am well past econ 101. I will try to refrain from having intellectual discussions for you.

Green has a wave length of 520570 while yellow has a wave length of 570580 so it makes perfect sense.

yeah....not funny

I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"

walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come

Certainly it can happen, but not for quite another while. At least that's what I think. Really not much to discuss here...

I had a green phat about a week or 2 back...i was trying to downgrade to yellow. I spent all day looking for a trade, and ended up downgrading to purple in hopes I could trade that for a yellow. Spent all day trying to find a yellow seller and ended up just selling the purple for cash on ge (before phats were going up).

Sleep on...fly on.

In your mind, you can fly.

I would love to know this as well... Being that i was around when they dropped here is my guess. Im going to guess that maybe 10-20k party hats of any color were created through crackers(only way they come about)

Certianly at least 500 of them were dropped or thrown away or sold to a general store in the first week or two they were out.(they didnt do anything and took up bank space). Since then im sure at least 1k were lost due to people quiting. So at this point there was 8-18k p hats. Then they were dupped God only knows how many were created then. At least few thousand were created. Im sure some of them were deleted when people were banned for the dupping. But your guess is as good as mine on how many got added to the game at that time. Im sure there is less then 100k p hat out there maybe more like 30k of any color is my best guess.
