We should euthanize anyone who lacks the capability to contribute to society in any way.

Yeah heard about this a while back. I really like RDJ and enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes books a lot. I'm probably going to have a hard time finding someone to watch this with though lol

Robert Downey Jr. playing a guy who is brilliant at his job while addled with drugs, where did he get the inspiration for that one?

On a more serious note, I'm not sure about this one. I don't mind the Sherlock Holmes literature (we even published a version of The Hound of the Baskervilles for uni last year) but I don't like Guy Richie's style of directing, it just gets in the way of the story for me. That being said, Robert Downey Jr is great to watch in most things he is in regardless of how well written/directed it is.

He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart,

and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.

- Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

Why is everyone saying this is unexpected? Iron Man came out about a year ago and it was common knowledge then that he was going to be working on Sherlocke Holmes before a sequel to Iron Man came out.
