June 17, 200917 yr Next Tuesday night is the release of Transformers 2. My friends want me to go with them to the midnight showing (which I am thrilled about!). The problem is, the next day is swimming practice. 8:00 AM. I will probably only get 4-6 hours of sleep that night. So, my parents probably won't let me go. The swimming practice is minor and really isn't that big of a deal if I'm sluggish that day. Before I ask, how could I convince them to let me go if they say no?
June 17, 200917 yr Why do you NEED to go see it at midnight? You likely won't even get tickets unless you line up 2 hours in advance
June 17, 200917 yr Author Why do you NEED to go see it at midnight? You likely won't even get tickets unless you line up 2 hours in advance Friends are impatient. I told them to go the night of the day it's released, instead of midnight. They refuse and MUST go at midnight showing.
June 17, 200917 yr if you're fairly dillegent about practice, just tell your parents it's no big [cabbage] if you miss ONE. And aside from that, it's not too hard to function with 4 - 6 hours of sleep. I've had 0 on a few occasions, and even though I clocked out at 6 PM, I was able to get through soccer practice :P . But, if all else fails, RED BULL! "Don't push me; what's the hurry?" - Imogen Heap
June 18, 200917 yr if you're serious about missing out on practices, i would suggest to go for the 4-6 hour sleep method(or atleast TRY). you might get a little tired afterwards, but you'll be able to sleep earlier and regret nothing the following day.
June 18, 200917 yr It's hard to convince your parents if they're already set on it. General perception of these situations is your family is very group orientated and no offense meant, but you probably generally cave in to your parents easy enough once "They put the foot down". Just tell them you're old enough to know what you want to do, you'll never be independent if they're calling every shot.
June 18, 200917 yr Just tell them you'll come back as early as possible (3am sound good?). Also, tell them that it's is the summer and you need some fun time due to all the hard work that you did over the past semester. ^ Blog.
June 18, 200917 yr You can't. You're trying to get into something useless. Yes and that's what it is. You could watch it the next day. Making it at midnight is just looking to piss off your parents. I mean, if you said you're best friend who was going away for college and is throwing a get-away party then maybe; if you said you needed to get your driver's license since its the only open appointment till December, then maybe; but to see Transformers 2 on midnight only to get "I watched it 1st" status...it doesn't look good. :| "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
June 18, 200917 yr Nick summed it up perfectly. Really, it's just a midnight release, it's not that important. Honestly, being out at that time might be asking for trouble. It all depends on the situation, this is deemed unnecessary compared to, say, a going-away party for someone going away who is important. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
June 18, 200917 yr The "it's not that important" thing doesn't work. The whole point is that he wants to see it with his friends, and thats when they are going. Get back here so I can rub your butt.
June 18, 200917 yr The "it's not that important" thing doesn't work. The whole point is that he wants to see it with his friends, and thats when they are going. Yeah. Seeing a movie by yourself kinda sucks [wagon].
June 18, 200917 yr Just because your friends are impatient is no excuse for you to go. Tell them that you can't because of your commitments. They are your friends and they should understand. And if they don't, oh well. And trust me, little sleep sucks. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
June 18, 200917 yr Tell them you are gay, then staying out late will not seem such a big thing. 8-) This. Will work. Seriously, after a bombshell like that, they won't know what hit them. June 18, 200917 yr Four to six hours sleep isn't bad, I just took two exams today with five hours of sleep. I'm pretty sure I aced them, too.
June 18, 200917 yr Tell them you are gay, then staying out late will not seem such a big thing. 8-) This. Will work. Seriously, after a bombshell like that, they won't know what hit them. And they will never look at you in the same way either when you have your mates over. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
June 18, 200917 yr No, tell them that you think you are gay, and that the only way to really find out is to watch two hours of Megan Fox running around while checking if you get aroused. Then they'd force you to go watch. Or, alternatively, they'd force you to watch pornography as they check if you get aroused. A choice between getting away with everything and watching porn with your parents. Seem like a good plan? I think so. But I don't want to go among mad people!Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."
June 18, 200917 yr Tell them you will sleep from 6-11, go to the movie, come home, go to sleep. And you will have the same amount of sleep you would have had any way. Flawless.

June 18, 200917 yr Maybe spend more time trying to convince your friends to wait a bit, tbh going at midnight is probably just a waste of time. I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. I am an [Ex-Moderator].
June 18, 200917 yr Your parents have a good point in not letting you go. If they say no, they mean no. I've said it before on here. As long as you live under their damn roof, you follow their damn rules. They don't want you to go to a midnight showing? Then you're not going. It's as simple as that. There is no benefit to going to a midnight showing. Sure, maybe it's something I'd try do, but my sleeping pattern is that [bleep]ed that going to sleep at 4am one day won't change a thing. Meanwhile, you, I assume, have a fairly normal sleeping pattern, it is going to be worse if you do only get 4 hours of sleep. You'll barely have the energy to move on that day, and generally feel crap. You have caring parents. Don't complain about not being able to go to this. It makes you sound like a little brat who didn't get the toy he wanted. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198

June 18, 200917 yr You made a commitment to a team. Valuing these principles, if I were one of your parents I would not let you go.
