Now i'm pretty sure everybody around the world has noticed the huuuuuugeeee leap in gas prices, and i'm pretty sure everybody in the world is angry about it. I was shocked at the prices, i would think it would be a long time before prices reached a dollar, but they skyrocketed this summer to....a buck thirty+! ! !! Danger!

Now, everybody is angry about this. I was at first even!

But not Alberta as of yesterday! For you guys wondering, Alberta is a province in Canada where there are lots of oil rigs:

As we have profited insanely from this, the primier of alberta, Ralph Kline

gave all the houses in Alberta 400$....per member! So, in other words, many Albertan families including myself got 1600$ I get to keep 400$, and i'm very happy about this and hopefully other provinces in Canada and around the world will do the same. So maybe these high prices aren't too bad after all :o 8)

don't waste the $400

There's a popular drawing of a forest out there, whos artist's name escapes me at the moment. Anyway, when you look at the picture, you at first just see a forest wall, trees, brush, roots, branches, etc. However, change your perspective, get rid of any pre-concieved notions, and you'll see a 16th century gothic city.

Anyway, that's how I think you've got to look at this little deal here. A hemi-billion dollar oil company raises it's oil prices, even though none of it's rigs were lost during some hurricane or natural disaster, but still wants to keep up with the big dawg companys, so it gouges it's prices anyway. It doesn't matter to them, people need gas, they can't practically live without it, so they can sell it at whatever price they want. Anyway, they strategically raise their prices and give the consumers some pocket change that they'll inevitably spend on gas anyway. Even if not directly on gas, then they'll buy some groceries or a dvd player. That dvd player has to be shipped, and shipping comes at the expense of oil. Win/Win situation for the "generous", multi-billion-dollar-a-year oil company.

After Hurricane Rita expect to see even new records set on gas prices. Yeah, its disgusting, but what can ya do. Everyone tries to cheat us out of our money, to better themselves. Its a cruel world.

Prices are about 1.00/Litre, CAD, which is back to regular from before Katrina, but still a lot. They raise the prices sooo much, so when it goes back to what it used to be, people will be happy. The gas companies think they're being smart or something. I remember just a few years back when gas was like 50cents/Litre. Perhaps in a few days, this time next week, prices will be 1.50 CAD/Litre. :x

Oh yeah, 50c/L, those were the days :( Kind of sad how it really wasn't that long ago either

I'm suprised Catlex hasn't jacked up the price as it is now. They jumped the gun when Katrina came.. cheating bastards

I think the gas prices rock whatever happens, people should be happy they're getting it so cheap. Ever looked at the european prices? It costs about $1.6 (1.3 euros) per liter, which is 0.25 gallons, making the price per 'gallon' (they don't count gas in gallons in Europe though) $6.4. Americans are usually paying less than half of that and still the whining continues. Accept the fact; American gas is still too cheap. :)

Maybe the oil companies have started to realise that their oil reserves are running out so they're trying to maximise their profit while they still can :P .

Anyway, here in the Uk prices are a little steep, but my dad run's a diesel so he gets very good mpg, and my mum's car is a Renault Clio, so it's fairly frugal on the fuel side of things. I just hope prices don't skyrocket with Rita on the way.

Once they start making efective technologies to remove the oil from the oil sands in an efective manner the money will be flowing in.

Hopefully the next president doesn't pull a Bush and claim Canada is stockpiling weapons of mass destruction :|

I know the price. I pay it gladly.

Argh. They're estimating as high as $2.00 CAD/Litre by time Rita is said and done with. Disgusting. According to googles calc, 1 US Gallon is about 3.8 Litres.

3.8 Litres at $2 each is about $7.60/gallon.

:x :x

How do they expect people to actually live? Are we becoming like cavemen, where we'll have to get rid of any luxuries just to survive or what.

Edit: I was wrong. They were saying at this moment, prices are already hitting the 2.00 and above mark. This is sickening. The hurricane hasnt even hit yet...
